Intro: So this is basically just something that goes on during The Goblet of Fire. There will be a lot of events from the book, but Harry, Hermione and Ron really aren’t involved much. My whole goal is to keep it from being really cliché, and I’m kind of winging most of the plot. The first couple chapters will be a little boring, because it’s just getting into it. Please tell me what you think

Disclaimer: The only character that is mine in this is Hannah Lindeman. The rest of the credit goes to J.K. Rowling who created the Harry Potter universe.

Chapter 1
Draco Malfoy. Every girl’s dream. His eyes were icy, but beautiful. He showed them off in the green light of the common room. He leaned forward with his hands on the arms of the leather chair I sat in, trapping me. His hair fell into those wonderful eyes as they bore into my own. He’s used to girls doing anything he wants, and that look was a last resort that softened even the greatest armor over a girl’s heart.
Good thing I knew better. Draco was cold, mean, cowardly, and was very good at manipulating people. Which meant almost everyone in Slytherin loved him. Except me. I refused to be used or tormented by anyone in my house, so I was forced to be alone, unless I suddenly decided to sacrifice morals and feelings toward others. Maybe then I would be accepted. That’s what I hated most about them, so I really spent most of my time getting detentions to stay away from everyone else.
“Come on. I have better things to do than Transfiguration homework. You’re better at it anyway.” I’m sure he thought this was a convincing tone as he leaned closer, to the point where I could smell the toothpaste on his breath.
“I can help you with it. But that would require actual work on your part. There’s no way I’m doing it for you,” I said as I pushed him away. I tried to keep my voice even; controlled. Be nice. Be nice. I wanted to be the exception to the fact that Slytherins seemed unable to be kind to anyone different. I wanted to prove that I wasn’t just another one of them; cruel and distant. Being one generally told others to keep away. What a wonderful example Draco had set for the rest of us. I couldn’t stand it.
“Hannah, Hannah, Hannah. When are you going to learn? People who help me get places. You help me, I help you. We could do great things.” Oh, so it was time for THAT card. I was used to people trying to get me to do their work. I was almost the best witch in our year- not to brag or anything- and since I didn’t really have close friends, my free time seemed to be a perfect opportunity to do everyone else’s work.
Tired of the usual game, I got up and started leaving in silence, leaving a sneering Draco in my wake. He was immediately joined by his best “friends” Crabbe and Goyle. They were the size of small refrigerators and had the IQs to match. He usually had them leave the room when he was negotiating; they weren’t the prettiest and usually succeeded in ruining whatever mood Draco was trying to create.
He caught up to me and turned my shoulders so I was facing him once again. “You’re the only person who says 'no' when I ask them to do something for me. We’ll have to get that nasty little habit out of you. It’s a shame really. I’d hate to have to ruin that pretty little face of yours,” he said. He stroked my jaw with his thumb, and reaching my chin, took it between his thumb and forefinger, tilting my face upward. “You’re lucky I have more important appointments.”
I gave no response to the cold fingers that rested on my chin, which I’m sure made him angrier, as he probably expected me to be quivering with excitement and begging to do his assignments. He gave me one last look, a mixture of puzzlement and bitterness, as he and his gang pushed past me and left for whatever “appointments” Draco had to attend to. It was most likely nothing more than telling everyone in earshot about the Quidditch World Cup for the fiftieth time.
I watched the silver-blond head disappear down the dark dungeon corridor before I started moving again. As I walked, I conjured a trail of bright green slime behind me. It seemed about time for another detention to brighten my evening. Filch would really freak out at this mess, but I would probably end up cleaning it anyway. I turned, flinging my long braid out behind me as a surveyed my work.
“Hannah. Why is it that I’m not surprised? Clean it up and wait in my office.” Professor Snape’s voice was flat as he appeared out of the shadows. He never really cared what I did. None of the teachers minded me. Most of them actually liked me, and I tried to return the favor. Except for Professor Moody. He just plain freaked me out.
With a flick of my wand, the slime disappeared into a cloud of colorful bubbles that added light to the gloomy passage. I ran the short distance to Snape’s office and moved my chair toward the fireplace. There really weren’t any comfortable chairs in the shadowy room, but this one seemed bigger and softer than the rest. I grabbed some fudge from behind a jar with what appeared to be a tongue floating in a strange turquoise liquid. My books lay under the tallest cabinet, and my blanket under the chair cushion. I had a stash like this in most of the teacher’s offices, but Snape’s was my favorite. There were way more places to hide things, and he didn’t talk much. He didn’t bother me about why I was a trouble maker or why I didn’t find any friends. He let me do what I wanted.
I was drawn out of my thinking as a sudden chill ran through me. It was always ten degrees colder in the dungeons than anywhere else, and I was already constantly shivering. I decided to sit and read, taking in the warmth of the fire, for a good long while until the professor showed up. “Mr. Filch is less personable than usual because of all the extra people coming for the Tournament. You’re lucky I found you and not Mrs. Norris. If you are going to make trouble, find some other way than mucking up his hallways.”
“Alright alright… so what’s my punishment for today?” I said sweetly, following the routine I had made for detentions.
“This is your third detention with me since the beginning of term, so a real punishment is due. Pickle rat brains for an hour and clean every cauldron until it shines. Then go find something productive to do.” All the staff members knew that I usually did more work than my trouble was worth, so this was really my extent of harsh punishments. I put my things away quickly and hurried out, for Snape looked more irritated than usual. He was never really in a good mood, but I had learned his levels of anger and annoyance. This one wasn’t good.
The potions classroom was silent as I set to my work. I heard students passing loudly in the corridor, but it did nothing to cushion the unpleasant feeling that came with being alone. I pulled a small wireless radio out of my bag and charmed it to pick up Muggle stations. I had always liked them better than WWN. I let the music carry me away as I prepared for the thing I hated most: another night alone.

Before I finish reading it, I have to say, anything that starts with. Draco Malfoy. Is awesome, and following it with. Every girl's dream. Just complements everything! Because it is soooo true! Now, on to finishing this, which I can already tell I shall like.

Ahhh, finished it. Snape is the BEST! Hannah is epic, if I was in her position with Draco, I'd be swooning, hehe, but I am also cheering Hannah on as well.

I love it and shall try and be watchful of updates!

quill Chapter 2

Note: Some of these scenes (like the entrances of the other schools) will be REALLY short simply because they are J.K. Rowling’s and not mine, so I don’t like using them much.
Chapter 2

I’d hate to have to ruin that pretty little face of yours. Those words wouldn’t stop haunting me. I stared at the reflection that glared angrily back at me. My golden-brown braid was falling out, and I had wisps of bright blond hair falling in my face, as usual. This small amount of blond on my head was by far the most annoying. My eyes- which weren’t really a color at all, just the mixture of blue, green, and brown that makes them look like muddy water- were hidden behind the scratched lenses of my beaten and bent glasses. The crookedly set teeth residing in my mouth showed no hint of a smile.
Pretty little face. It made me want to scream. A simple compliment if it had come from anyone but him. Draco Malfoy didn’t give compliments. His voice rang in my ears once again, the tone of mockery never leaving my head. I would have liked nothing better than to return the favor and punch him straight in the face. Ruin those perfect white teeth of his.
I shifted the handle of the silver mirror in my hand as I admired its beauty against my lack of it, stroking the single sapphire that rested on the end. My parents had sent it to me after they bought it off a Muggle in Cambodia. They were there on business, studying magical plants and their effects on nearby Muggle settlements. They had sent a letter along with it, but I threw it out before bothering to even open it. I could already guess what it would say.
They would ask a few things about my classes, but most of the letter would they would be bursting about all the wonderful information they were finding. They wouldn’t ask about friends, the girls in my dormitory, or anything else about my house for that matter. They meant the best, but they were ashamed of me. I knew it. My mother was a Gryffindor, my father a Ravenclaw. They thought the same things about Slytherin that I did. I just wasn’t smart enough for Ravenclaw, brave enough for Gryffindor, or loyal enough for Hufflepuff. My mom acted so excited when she found out where I had been sorted, but it was all empty words and smiles that didn’t quite reach her eyes. It’s like they thought I would grow up to be a dark wizard or something. I guess that’s how the smart ones usually were, either really good or really bad. I knew they loved me and had only the best intentions, but it just couldn’t be enough to hide their true feelings all the time. I couldn’t stand causing them so much trouble. So I never wrote back. I just let them go on with their discoveries and have a life free of their snake of a daughter.
I don’t even know how I became a Slytherin. It was a great house and all, I guess. I just didn’t belong. The Sorting Hat sang a song once about how Slytherin wanted ambitious students. I wasn’t really determined to do anything; at least not enough to push others away from an opportunity. Slytherins were known to think before they acted. I was like a Gryffindor in that my motto seemed to be “act now, think later.” I just went along with whatever was on my mind. Was I a Slytherin because I was self centered? In the end, would I save my own life even if it meant losing someone else’s? What did that torn old hat see that I couldn’t?
It was then that I realized my knuckles were white from my grip on the mirror and my brow was furrowed in thought, which was interrupted by the stern voice of Professor McGonagall. “If you’ll excuse me for interrupting whatever little daydream you were having, Miss Lindman, I would appreciate it if you would pay attention to the lesson,” she scolded.
I muttered my apologies and tried to ignore the snickering from behind me. Draco had taken to sitting behind me in most of our lessons. It made things much easier when he attempted to frighten or annoy me into doing his work. As usual, today I refused (for about the seventh time). He responded simply by stroking my braid with one finger and whispering, “You’ll learn that it’s better when you see things my way soon enough. I can promise you that.” I didn’t let him see that it sent a chill down my spine.
He had been getting worse and worse since the ferret incident with Professor Moody. It appeared that I was becoming his method for forgetting his troubles. I seemed to see a flash of silver-blond hair around every corner I turned. He invaded every place I had to hide away from the rest of the world. My secluded corners everywhere were taken over. It looked like he was finding ways to torture me that didn’t involve ruining my face. I guess since no one noticed me, I was a wonderful object on which to release all that extra tension.
When the bell tolled to release us from our final classes of the day, I was more than relieved that we had been excused early to greet the students of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had been watched the entire period. I was like an experiment. I was to be tested. They wanted to see what I could take- and what it would take to break me.
I did my best to melt into the mass of students returning to their dormitories as we went to put away our things. Everyone was chatting excitedly as we flowed slowly toward the dungeons. The entrance into our common room stood wide open due to the constant gush of students, and I got in and out as quickly as I could. People practically ran back up to the entrance hall and out the door to where teachers frantically attempted to organize the squirming masses coming from the castle.
We all stood in the formation we were placed in, eyes searching every direction for a sign of the newcomers. Suddenly, we caught sight of a massive carriage as it soared through the air. We watched in amazement as it crashed onto the front lawn with its giant, red-eyed horses guiding the way. I stared at the creatures and the colossal woman who appeared to be their owner until my eyes were drawn away by another astonishing sight- a ship rising from the depths of our lake.
The foreign students looked around nervously as they left their strange forms of transportation and filed into the castle, their headmasters chatting and shaking hands with my own. Hogwarts students followed closely to get out of the chilled fall air, and boys and girls alike stood on tiptoe, whispering elatedly to each other at something, or someone, they had seen.
I filed into the overly crowded Great Hall to see that the Durmstrang students had chosen to sit at the Slytherin table, where they shed their heavy furs and seemed to mix well with the rest of my house. I was searching for an open seat, as most of the emptier sections I liked to sit in were now taken up, when I saw it. Someone had saved one for me.

Great cliff hanger. MUST RIGHT MORE SOON!! This is amazing. Even though I absolutely love stories about the trio, or Harry and Ginny, I really do enjoy reading stories from other "students" views and what happens with them. This really is great keep it up!

**If possible...do you think you could PM when you post a new chapter? That would be awesome if you could! Thanks! =]

I glared into that set of all-too familiar glacier eyes as I sat down in the place that had been reserved for me. I looked at the seats around it to see that I was surrounded. Crabbe sat next to me and Goyle across, both with their usual looks of blank agitation on their faces.
“You should be proud of yourself, Draco. You’re finally getting some space from your baby sitters. You’re sitting a whole seat apart? That’s a big step. Maybe soon you’ll be big enough to use the toilet all by yourself!” I said contemptuously. I had hoped for my words to have some sort of effect on that big head of his, but he just chuckled as he stared me up and down, taking in my resentment.
“Tut tut. I save you the best seat in the Hall and this is how you thank me? You really do need to learn some manners,” he stated coolly.
“I’m sorry. Were you expecting me to bow at your feet and thank you for an opportunity to dine with the most wonderful person at Hogwarts? I-“ Don’t lose your temper, Hannah. Don’t let him ruin you. Don’t give him the satisfaction. “I think that would be a bit much. Even for you.”
With a perplexed look on his face, Draco opened his mouth to reply, but was immediately distracted by the boy sitting next to Goyle. He was at least a couple years older than we were, and he wore the blood red robes of Durmstrang. He looked quite familiar to me, but I couldn’t remember from where. He had thick black eyebrows, and his face seemed to be set in a permanent scowl.
“He seems you haff a vild von on your hands,” he said as he noticed Draco’s expectant stare.
“Yes, yes. It’s about time we broke her of that. She’s been running around Slytherin unchecked since she was sorted,” Draco replied, laughing like he knew the boy as an old friend.
“Yeah sure! Talk about me like I’m not here! I’m fine with it, really!” I practically yelled. I would not let him present me like he was taking the challenge of taming some animal.
“That tongue of hers is her worst quality. She doesn’t realize how to speak to those above her,” Draco said as he placed a white hand on my shoulder. I turned my head to bite it, to do something to stop him from touching me, when Dumbledore began to speak. He gave a short speech to welcome our guests before mountains of food appeared on the long tables.
I glared at the foreigner as I loaded my plate with food I wasn’t even looking at, making my displeasure clear. I refused to be a good little girl if he would do nothing to stop the treatment I was getting. I think he caught on, because he reached across the table to shake my hand, completely ignoring Draco’s remark.
“I’m Hannah Lindman. It’s very nice to meet you,” I said, pushing Malfoy’s hand off my shoulder. I carried on polite conversation with the Durmstrang boy all throughout dinner (he never told me his name, and the scowl never did leave his face), and watched with delight as the smirk slowly disappeared from Draco’s face.
As I was leaving the Great Hall after the best evening I had had in quite a while, I realized a terribly large number of eyes following me out. I heard their whispers as I passed: “Who is she?” “She was sitting next to Draco!” “Has she always been a Slytherin?” “His hand was on her SHOULDER! MY Draco’s hand!” “Was she really talking to him!?” "And sitting by Draco!!” I recognized the voice of a girl in my dormitory, Pansy Parkinson, above all the others.
Everyone knew she fancied Draco. Obsessed with him was more like it. She talked about him constantly. When he had been “injured” by a hippogriff during Care of Magical Creatures last year, she did everything for him. “Oh Drakie, does it hurt? Do you need anything?’ seemed to be all you heard when she was around. Even after he recovered, she followed him around like a lost puppy most of the time. Since I was forced to sit by Draco in most lessons, it meant sitting near her as well. If I heard her go into a laughing fit over one of his jokes again I would kill myself.
Although that night in the dormitory, she might have done it for me. Her fury was almost comical as she tried to control it. Her face turned beet red, and she was shaking. Now imagine the cheesiest, most obnoxious lecture about 'true love' that you can. Now multiply that by a hundred, and you have about half of what I got from Pansy, I was given a very long speech that consisted mostly of “he’s mine” and “you can’t tear us apart.” She also threw in a lot of “you better watch your back,” with her gang of other Slytherin girls glaring at me menacingly behind her. It seemed like I was making enemies left and right. Just what I needed. More people to notice me.

quill Chapter 4

The Durmstrang boy was Viktor Krum. The moment he was called up as a champion, I knew that my hopes for a friend and protector were gone. He gained such a crowd that it became nearly impossible to go near him without gaining more unwanted attention. I got a ‘hello’ every once in a while, but nothing more. I ate every meal by Draco’s side for weeks with no one to save me.
He refused to stop touching me. It was nothing big, just a hand on my shoulder, brushing hair out of my face. He had realized that chills filled my body every time he set so much as a finger on my skin. I was afraid. I wanted more than anything to be embraced, hugged, caressed, but not by him. With him, every touch was evil; cold and distant. I couldn’t go anywhere without him close behind, whispering messages that foretold my defeat.
Every comment I had made, and continued to make, against him was a challenge. He was losing respect because of me. If some little nobody cold hold their own against him, why couldn’t everyone else? Draco would not have the pyramid of fear and power he had so carefully constructed go to ruin because of me.
As fall came and went, I took to sleeping every moment possible. Draco may not have been able to reach me in the dormitory, but Pansy Parkinson could. Even with the dark curtains drawn tight and my pillow over my ears, I could hear her and her little gang. All the extra attention I was getting was taking away from hers. Somehow that neurotic little mind of hers couldn’t understand that he was torturing me. She was convinced that I was trying to steal him. The night I told her that there was no way I could steal what was never hers; I knew that I had gone too far. I opened the drapes just enough to see her face contort in true rage before the others led her out of the room in vengeful silence, no doubt to plan my downfall. There was nowhere safe for me at Hogwarts.
Night became my only solace. I wandered the castle hopelessly, wishing for the first time in my life that I wasn’t a wizard. Even the disgraced existence of a Squib would be better than this terror. I could live a simple life. No Hogwarts. No Slytherin. No Draco Malfoy.
One night just before the winter holidays, I was drifting as usual somewhere on the seventh floor when the hated silence that I had become so accustomed to was interrupted by a strange sound. Clunk. Clunk. Clunk. I barely had time to turn around before I was almost flattened by Peeves the poltergeist as he zoomed toward me down the corridor. His arms were laden with what had to be contraband stolen from Filch’s office, and he dropped items with a loud thunk every few feet. His entire armload crashed to the floor when he saw me.
“STUDENT OUT OF BED!!!! STUUUDEEENT OOOOUUTTTT OOOOFFFF BEEEDDD!!!!!” he bellowed. I broke into a run with him right on my tail, screaming all the while. From a tapestry to my right I would hear huffing and puffing as Filch burst forth from it. I turned my head so he wouldn’t see my face and ran faster than I ever had. I need a place to hide for the night where they can’t get in! I need a place to hide where they can’t get in!! I searched my mind, not caring where I was running, leading them back and forth through the corridors. Suddenly, a door appeared to my right. I had no idea where I was, but I couldn’t run much longer.
I burst through the door and slammed it behind me, catching my breath as I fell to the floor. This was it. Any moment now, the door would open and Filch would come to take me to the headmaster’s office. To my surprise, I heard his heavy footsteps run right past as if he couldn’t even see the door.
“She was right here! Right here! Oh, I’ll find you!! You can’t hide from me!” he coughed out. As his voice faded down the hall, I lifted myself off the chilled stone floor to look around at the room I had stumbled into. It was quite large, but mostly empty. A large bed sat toward the middle, with a gloomily empty fireplace standing beside it. I pulled my wand out of my robes and watched as it filled with happily dancing flames.
As I examined the room further, I realized that it had everything I needed to hide out of the night; clothes, blankets, even a shower with lovely soaps and fluffy white robes. I was sure I had never seen that door before… everything I needed… the Room of Requirement! I had read about it in so many books… but I had never dreamed that I would find it! I had never dreamed that it was real! My first smile since dinner with Viktor spread widely across my face. I had found my safe place.

quill Chapter 5

*I wanted to just get this posted already, so it's not edited as well as some of the other chapters...* P.S. If anyone knows how to make cool banners and wants to help me out that would be sweet....
The Room of Requirement became my sanctuary. All of my time, except for lessons and meals, was spent there. As I started telling it specifically what I wanted, it grew to a place better than I could have every imagined. Shelves and shelves of books lined the walls, and eventually a fantastic shower turned up. It felt like tropical rain and had soaps that smelled like heaven; it was almost as grand as the prefects’ bathroom (which I had stumbled upon my first year). Warm blankets lay on the softest bed I had ever slept on, and I started sleeping in the Room every night. I learned to charm the pillows in the dormitory to look like me when I was sleeping- they even moved once in a while, and rose and fell as if filled with breath- just in case someone happened to check if I was there.
My absence did not go unnoticed however. I still ate with Draco, and he constantly asked me where I had been running off to. He tried to follow me every once in the while, but he was named specifically when I told the Room who not to let in; which was really just about everyone.
Pansy noticed my disappearances as well, and she constantly whispered “You can’t hide from me forever. You’ll get what you deserve,” into my ear in class. She really wasn’t smart enough to follow me though. I had become very good at throwing people off my trail, and I was used to people much sharper than her following me.
Even the staff members noticed the decline in my usual detentions. Most of them stated how proud they were of me, except Professor Snape. He just looked at me with those black eyes, seeming to stare straight through me, like he knew where I had been going every day and night. Mr. Filch noticed as well, but I could only tell by his mutterings to his cat, telling her what a trouble maker I was and that I’d better keep my nose clean. He had been quite bitter towards everyone since I evaded him that night, even if he didn’t know exactly who it was.
My days started passing faster and faster, and Draco and Pansy became mere whispers in the back of my mind. I was content to sit in the Room of Requirement and listen to the radio. Somehow, my world seemed a little less lonely there. If I had to be alone all the time, at least I could be comfortable. When the holidays did finally come, I almost never left. I was warm and safe there. I didn’t bother going home for Christmas- it would mean dragging my parents home, and I didn’t think I could do that to them.
Whispers of the Yule Ball filled the Great Hall during meals, and I watched as countless girls whispered and giggled at the boys they wanted to ask. I really hated giggling. It was just obnoxious. Even the word was annoying. Giggle. It was just aggravating.
Pansy Parkinson was a giggler. On Christmas Eve I could hear that irritating little voice over everyone else’s. I had decided to sleep in the dormitory that night so that I could get all of my Christmas presents and collect some of my things. I listened as the rest of the girls tried and tried to get her to tell who she was going to the ball with, but she would simply break out in a fit of giggles. They talked about how pathetic it was that I didn’t have I date, and how I must’ve thought I could get one since I stayed here over the holidays. Well now. We would just have to see about that.
As I opened my presents the next morning, I realized that my parents must have been thinking the same thing that I had. Among their many other gifts, they had sent me some gorgeous midnight blue dress robes (they had asked another local Muggle to hand make them), as well as a book of beauty spells. I knew my mother wouldn’t be able to resist getting me all dressed up. They had sent me a Muggle camera as well, with a note telling me to take lots of pictures. Well that settled it. I had to go. For them.
I fought myself all day as I got ready, constantly talking myself in and out of going to the ball. I stared in the large mirror that had appeared when I went back to the Room of Requirement as my appearance slowly improved with each spell. The only thing that kept me going was thinking of how Pansy would freak out when she saw that I showed up.
Night fell around the castle, and I sat in the Room as late as possible. I could feel knots forming in my stomach as I walked down the staircases. Most people were already downstairs, and I was glad that I didn’t run into anyone. As a descended, I noticed Hermione Granger walking a flight below me. She looked beautiful. It made me want to slink back up the stairs and just stay in my room. I mean, she had always been quite pretty in my opinion, but this… I waited for her to have time to get to the bottom of the main stairs into the entrance hall. I looked so horrible compared to her… this just wasn’t going to work.
I reluctantly forced myself out of the shadows and down the staircase, and to my relief saw that the huge groups of students were still occupied staring Hermione and her date. I watched Viktor Krum take her arm as he led her into the Great Hall with the rest of the champions. I felt a pang in my chest as I remembered our small dinner conversation. Like I could really catch anyone’s attention.
I looked around at the other pairs, watching as students greeted their dates, smiling and laughing. I almost wished that I could be one of them. Carefree; no Pansy or Draco on my back. Speak of the devils. I watched them walk in, arm in arm, with Pansy laughing loudly and obnoxiously as Draco stared off into space. I walked right behind them and watched as Pansy slowly noticed my presence. She looked me up and down out if the corner of her eye, glaring. Her face went red as she gripped Draco’s arm tighter. He didn’t even notice.
The night was long and lonely; all I could do was watch couples dance. And dance. And dance some more. Pansy glared and giggled, making sure that I noticed her date. “Oh Drakie! Tell that joke about the Mudblood again!” I gripped the thin glass in my hand so hard it shattered, cutting my hand and sending punch all over the table.
“Need some help?” Viktor Krum stood by my side, two bottles of Butterbeer in his hand.
“I’m fine, thanks for asking though. I bet Hermione’s waiting for you. She looks stunning, by the way. You do too, “ I said, smiling as I tried to stop the blood streaming from my hand.
“Thank you. Very much. I’m sorry ve have not talked,” he said as he grabbed my hand. He started cleaning it with the already ruined tablecloth.
“You’ve been busy with the tournament and stuff. It’s fine, really,” I said as he ripped the white cloth and started wrapping it around my hand. He stared at me hard for a minute, trying to read my face.
“I think I can take care of her for a minute. I just saw your date, Viktor. She doesn’t look happy. You better go find her,” I jumped at the familiar voice that came from behind me, almost landing on Draco’s foot. Viktor gave me a look of apology, but I knew that he wanted to go find her.
“Go. I’ll be fine.” At least I hoped I would. Viktor nodded his thanks at Draco and wandered across the dance floor to find his girl. Draco sat in his vacated seat and gave a disapproving glance at the mess of a table before grabbing my hand. He unwrapped what Viktor had done to take a look at it.
“You really are a clumsy little thing aren’t you?” he muttered. He ripped even more of the white cloth and started rewrapping my hand. Teachers gave critical glances every few minutes, and he would just put my hand in the air to show them the blood slowly seeping through the makeshift bandages.
“I could just go to the hospital wing. Madame Pomfrey could have me fixed up in no time,” I said as I tried to keep the pleading tone out of my voice.
“And have you miss all the fun? I don’t think so,” he chuckled.
“Don’t you have a date to get back to?” he glanced up to my face as I spoke, no doubt trying to see if I was jealous.
“She’ll be fine. I told her I was leaving ten minutes ago. It’s all a bit of a bore. She was angry about something anyway. I got tired of listening to her whine,” he said quietly. He tied the cloth on my hand and examined his work, turning it so that he could see from every angle. It was driving me nuts. He looked past the hand to see the glare I was giving him, and he laughed as he released my hand from his grip.
I loved how hilarious he found everything that I did. It was almost as awful as the touching. I gathered my things and muttered thanks for mending my hand. As I stormed out of the room, I heard him mutter, “You look lovely by the way,” and having another small laugh as he said it.
I needed my room. Now. I walked up the stairs as fast as I could without falling. I heard familiar footsteps behind me and walked faster. It would be ten times harder to lose him when the corridors were empty. I guess he realized that too. As I reached the seventh floor I heard the footsteps uncomfortably close. I pulled my wand out of my robes and sent a random hex back behind me as I rounded a corner. I heard an inhuman yelp and started getting worried. I took the risk of looking back to see Draco staring down with huge eyes at the form of Mrs. Norris, who was slowly turning a ghastly shade of yellow.
“I’LL GET YOU FOR THIS! YOU TROUBLE MAKER! I’LL FIND YOU!” I heard Filch yell as he pounded up the staircase, no doubt drawn by the small sound his beloved cat had made. I sprinted toward the Room of Requirement and watched as Draco ran down a different path. I need my room!! Don’t let Filch in! PLEASE! Don’t let him find me! Keep me safe! I ran back and forth three times and thought hard before the door finally appeared. I heard Filch screaming something outside, angry that he had been evaded yet again and somehow knowing that it had to be the same person who had done it before.
I looked up expecting to see my room, but it was dark and looked much different than usual. It was much smaller, and seemed to have a screen down the middle. I desperately wanted to investigate, but I was too tired to really care. I took spare clothes out of a trunk in the corner and changed, yawning and panting from my run so loud that it echoed across the room. I crawled into bed and was lulled to sleep by the peaceful sounds of the creaking castle settling down for the night.
