Chapter 36: Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me

I followed Harry down secret passage ways after long corridors. His firm hold kept me right at his side. We both came skidding out of a portrait only to find ourselves outside the Great Hall. Harry finally released my hand out of his iron grip.

"Harry," i waved my hand in front of his face.

"Not now," he answered as he stuck his head around the corner, "I don't see her in there," he muttered.

"Harry?" Ginny asked as her and Luna Lovegood came down the marble steps. "Is everything alright?" Harry walked up to her and took her hand.

"Of course I just need to talk to you," He replied. I looked over at Luna who was quiet infatuated in a loose thread from her bag.

"Harry, I know what you're going to say," Ginny squeezed his hand gently, " I already know that nothing happened between you and Hermione,"

"You do," Harry let out a sigh of relief.

"Yes," Ginny took hold of his other hand, "Luna came and told me about the fight that Ron and Hermione had, but I already knew my brother was an idiot,"

"That's fantastic. I mean its good that you know nothing happened, well its also good that you know Ron's an idiot--I mean,"

"Just spit it out Harry," Luna suggested in her delusional yet totally sincere manner.

We all stifled a chuckle, "How did you know though?" I asked.

"I just spent the summer listening to Hermione's cries about how Ron was giving her the cold shoulder. I doubt she would have used my blouse as a hankie is she had my boyfriend cheat on me with her,"

"Oh I'm so glad," Harry bent down and kissed her as the Great Hall began to empty itself of students.

"Uggg Get a room Potter," Sean joked as he passed by.

"Oh, that reminds me," Ginny said as we walked back to the common room, "Harry, October 1st is a Hogsmead weekend, and I was thinking we could go together,"

Harry put his arm around her shoulder, and i could contain my disappointment, "oh," The couple turned around to face me, "Well, thats my birthday," I stared down at my toes.

Harry pulled me close and kept his free arm around my shoulder,"I've got an idea,"

Chapter 37: My own mischief with the head troublemaker in-chief

The morning of my birthday I awoke suddenly out of my nightmare. My heart was racing.



In this dream I was flying high over a English suburb with Weasley fireworks exploding around me. The heat from the blast burned my feathers until they revealed human skin underneath. Without feathers I began to fall faster and faster. My arms flailed around me in a desperate attempt to stay aloft, but to no avail. I sped towards to ground, but before I could become a mark on the driveway someone caught me. This tall figure set me down and I soon recognized him.

"George?" I asked. He shook his head no, and I began painfully aware that this George-look-alike had both of his ears attached.

"You have died in your past, right?"

"Fred?" I questioned, my voice barely a whisper. He nodded, his blazing red hair falling into his eyes.

"Right?" he pressed.

"Yes I was reborn, because I was a phoenix," I explained. I saw a look of hope flicker across his face.

"Would you--" he began to say, but more fireworks exploded. The blasts covered up his voice, and I woke up.



It wasn't a particularly scary dream, but the way that Fred seemed so real...It chilled me.

"Jess," Marianna whined, "Its only..." she grabbed at the clock on her bedside table,"....eight thirty....go....back...to....sleep," she commanded.

"No way, today I'm---" I looked over at Beatrice's four poster bed. The curtains were tightly drawn. They were pulled so hard that she had actually succeeded in ripping the thick fabric. Ceria, of course, repaired them almost immediately, and without even a thank you Beatrice went to bed.

I motioned for Marianna to come over to me, but in a sarcastic way she motioned for me to go to her. I tiptoed over the cold floor and whispered, "Harry's going to take me to Hogsmead,"

"No WAY!!" she proclaimed. She clamped her hand over her mouth, but neither Ceria nor Beatrice so much as turned over. "What's your plan to get there?" She whispered urgently.

"I'm not sure, but Harry said we'd be going out of the front door so yeah," I thought back to the conversation we had had about it.



"Don't be silly. We are not going to get caught," he explained. We were both supposed to be studying. But really Hermione was looking over Harry's Charms essay, and I was pretending to read through my transfiguration text book which I had already committed to memory.

"But what are we doing?" I asked again as Madam Pince scowled at me for using such a loud tone.

"We are walking out the front door with Ginny," he started gathering up his books, "Now if you don't mind I'm going to D.A.D.A. with Professor Gladstone,"

"But--"

"Bye,"



"Weird," Marianna concluded, "You don't think its going to be anything illegal, right?" she asked.

"Would you care if it was?"

"Nope, you?"

"Not at all," i replied, "Well, I'll tell you all about it," I got dressed rather hurriedly into some outfit that Hermione had given me, "I'm meeting Harry and Ginny in the common room so I'm talk to you when we get back," i was about to leave when Marianna poked me in the side.

"Can I tell..."she point a perfectly french manicured nail at Ceria.

"No duh,"



Sorry for not posting in a while, but I hope this helps (even if it doesn't really explain the idea). I hope you are all doing well, and i hope maybe just maybe I can post in a reasonable amount of time. Thanks for reading

Chapter 38: Don't get caught

Once I made it to the plush gold and red common room I began to have second thoughts.

"Jess," Ginny called from behind me, "Are you ready?" she whispered even though the common room was practically empty.

"Yeah, but-t-t aren't you-u nervous-s-s?" I sputtered out. She grinned and took my hand.

"Don't worry," she led me up to the boys dormitory, "Rule breaking is sort of a tradition here,"

True that.

* * *

The three of us were getting an early lunch. The toast and sausages were delicious but I couldn't stop glancing at the mysterious bag that Harry brought.

"Did you hear that Hogsmead is supposed to have a Floreans Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor now?" Ginny told Harry in a casual way which was strange to me because we were about to attempt something that would mean the first of many detentions.

"Really!" Harry set down his fork and knife, " You might want to save some room, Jess, that way you can stuff your face at Hogsmead,"

"Shush!" I franticly looked around to see if anyone had heard him. He let out a hearty laugh.

"Relax, the only way that someone heard that is if they had a pair of extendible ears," Harry paused for a second and then ducked down to search beneath the bench.

"Thats not funny," I whined as he pulled his head back up with an obnoxious grin plastered on his face.

"Come on," he said. He took Ginny and I by the hand and led us past the entrance doors where Filch was standing guard, "In here," he open up a trick door pretending to be a wall. He gently pushed me in and handed me his invisibility cloak.

"Wicked," I whispered as I draped it over myself.

"Now remember you're not here," Harry warned.

"Yeah, yeah. Can we go to Huneydukes first?" I stepped back out into the corridor, and tip-toed until i was right in front of the infamous Filch.

"What are you smilin' about?" he asked in a gruff tone.

"Nothing," Harry and Ginny chorused as they were prodded by Dark Artifact Sensory detectors. Once Filch was satisfied that they were not smuggling something out of the castle he let them pass.

"You still with us?" Harry asked still looking ahead.

"Yes," I answered as we all continued on the path to Hogsmead.

Chapter 39: DESTROY THE WRAPPED PAPER!!!! :evillaugh

Once we were on the near empty road leading to Hogsmead I put the invisibility cloak away.

"What are you doing?!" Harry hissed at me.

"Relax" I pulled the hood up on an old pink jacket that Hermione had given me, "Anyone who sees me won't care, and anyone that cares won't see me," I sounded like I was lecturing him, but he smiled at my words.

"Wise words for a TWELVE year old," he put his arm around my shoulder and hugged me tight. I stared down at my feet, pounding the dying grass.

"Actually," I leaned in tighter to Harry. I could smell the fresh lavender I knew Kreacher was putting into his laundry, "This would really be my seventeenth birthday," I said sadly.

The three of us abruptly stopped walking. Ginny gave Harry an I'm-always-right look, "Good thing I thought of that," Harry gave her a peck on that cheek as he reached into his Bag of Wonders.

"Your seventeenth birthday present," Harry handed me a carefully wrapped package. I walked over to a bench on the side of the path. The gift was covered in a luminescent gold paper. There was a message scribbled in Harry's messy print.

To my not so little sister happy 17th

I smiled, and my eyes started to water. So, being very sure that I wouldn't rip the message, I began to destroy the thin layer of paper in-between me and my very first birthday presents.

Out of the story for a second, how mad would you be if I stopped the post right there? Just a thought. Ok, RESUME STORYTELLING----

In there very center of the box was a gold watch. There were stars instead of numbers, and I was getting the impression that I had just taken part of a great tradition.

Harry tapped on my shoulder, and held up a battered twin of my watch. There were dents and scratches on his that I knew had come from problems handed down from others before him. Even though his was badly worn it had survived with all of its parts. But an adventure I knew my watch would have, filled with its own parts.

So thank you for reading, and also thank you for not beheading me for my interruption . Anyway, what did you think? Personally I'm just proud of myself for posting in a 'normal' time span, just kidding. I don't do normal (I've always wanted to use that spell....I mean smilie

Chapter 40: Nargles, Wackspurts, and Crumple-horned Snortshacks Oh my!

I once again donned the cloak of invisibility and the three of us began to march through Hogsmead. We entered Huneydukes where Harry and Ginny bought me all the candy I sneakily pressed into their hands. Although they did end up ending as much of it as I did.

After that I got dragged away from Zonkos because as Harry kept insisting, "I had enough joke items to restock Weasley Wizard Weazes,"

Ginny then made her leave when we ran into Luna Lovegood, "Oh, hello," she greeted us as she put away her copy of the Quibbler, "Beautiful day isn't it?"

"Yeah," Ginny hastily agreed, "Listen, Harry, I had ment to tell you sooner but Luna and I need to go feed our Care of Magical Creatures assignment. I'll meet up with you at the Three Broomsticks soon, ok?"

"Sure, I'll see you then but why do two people need to feed one animal?" Harry asked.

"Hagrid got to choose what animal we take care of and being some of his favorite students we got a...'real treat',"

"Understood," they all shared a smile, "I see you in a little bit but i'm...just gonna walk around for a while," he gently nudged me.

"Fine," Luna said as they turned to walk back to the castle, "Oh and Happy Birthday Jess," she handed a thick envelope right to me.

I opened the cloak, just slightly, "How the hell did you see me?" I asked as I checked to make sure my feet weren't sticking out.

"Wackspurts," she answered as if that was just normal reasoning.

"Oh," i sighed as I opened up the card.

And folded carefully next to it was the latest issue of the Quibbler. "Oh thank you Luna!!" I exclaimed.

"No problem. Daddy came up with the joke himself," she said in her usual daydream tone.

"Its hilarious," I insisted.

"Well we must be going," Ginny said as I re-draped the cloak over me, "I don't want to be late feeding it and lose my fingers like Melissa did,"

"bye," Harry bent down and gave Ginny a lingering kiss and then smiled at Luna, "Wanna see the Hogshead?' he asked me. I began to nod vigorously, but then realized that Harry couldn't see me.

"Sure," I answered as bit my tongue to stop my self from bursting out laughing as an elderly couple walked by. We both turned to head down the road, and somewhere in the village another student was having the same idea.

Why hello there, its been a while (and i had just started posting regularly, well gosh darn it). I hope you like the post, and thank you so much for the compliments. I love that you like the way I write.

Chapter 41: Look what the somewhat obsessive cat dragged in

The two of us walked into a dusty bar, which was nearly empty. The tables and chairs were cracked and stained. The barman was serving a boiling liquid to a very depressed young man wrapped in bandages and an elderly witch who was too drunk to remain upright for short periods of time.

"You can take off the cloak," Harry instructed as he put handed the silver to the barman. "They don't care right?"

"right," the other occupants of The Hogshead replied.

"Take a seat," Harry pulled out a chair at one of the more stable tables. "Now for one of your other presents," he sat down and stared at me. I was rather disappointed he wasn't reaching into his bag of wonders.

"Why thank you," he said as the toothless barman handed him two glistening glasses of a frothy golden drink. "Cheers," We both clinked our glasses, and took a sip.

The beverage was light and bubbly with a hint of cinnamon. It was fabulous.
"Thank you," I began to chug the rest of my present. Chuckling, i finally finished and set down the empty glass. Before either of us could say anything. A pitiful bell dutifully rang as the door opened. I turned my head to see who it was and found non other than Lavender Brown dragging in Ronald Bilius Weasley.

Chapter 42: awkward turtle

"ummm, Ha-harry," I stuttered out. He and Ron were having a staring contest to see who could be the meanest without using words. Ron smirked at his once best friends and then leaned down. Then Lavender and him started snogging. Ronald was winning.

Without detaching them selves they slid into a ripped up booth. I began to stand up, "Lets go Harry," I insisted, but he caught my arm.

"We don't have to go," I sat back down again as Harry tried to put on a fake smile, "Its your birthday you can do what you like,"

Ron swore under his breath.

"I want to...." I hesitated. Truly I wanted to stay in this disgusting bar without hiding under the cloak than go somewhere else and have Harry have to ignore me. "lets go to the shrieking shack!" I blurted out.

"Alright!" Harry agreed a little too quickly, "Onward," he practically ran to the door. I pulled off Hermione's hand-me-down pink jacket and left it on the chair.

Harry pulled the door open for me and we walked outside a few steps before I stopped. "Oh, dang it I left my coat inside,"

"I didn't know you took it off?" Harry replied questioningly.

"You stay here I'll go get it," I turned on my heel and ran back into the pub. I grabbed my jacket and put it on as i marched to the two snoggers. "Excuse me!" i yelled out. They stopped and looked at me. "Sorry but i want your full attention when I scold you.

Harry is your best friend, and it seems to me that you never trust him. I wasn't there in your fourth year, but it seems to me that you only went back to being his best friend once you had proof. And a TRUE friend at least gives you the benefit of the doubt. Hell a decent person gives a stranger that.

But not you, you need the proof so here it is. Harry never cheated on Ginny, and the proof is- if he dared cheat on her she would find out and dump him. Their still together so what does that tell you. She's smart and your sister trust HER," I was done talking but I stood there waiting for an answer.

"Thats Hermione's jacket," Ron pointed at me.

"Yes, you idiot," i answered, "Hermione gave me a bunch of her clothes,"

"My proof that they had something going on was that I found Hermione's bra at Grimald place, and I know my sisters smart so I know for a fact that it wasn't hers," Ronal looked me in my eyes.

"Then tell Harry that," I instructed him.

"I need to go," Ron said to Lavender. He got up from the booth, and headed for the door.

"Wait!" I called after him. He faced me, "How did you know it was Hermione's?" I asked him while attempting to keep an idiotic giggle down.

Ron tilted his head to the side with an disgusted look on his face. Shaking his head, "It had her name in it, Jess,"
