Chapter 5



“I like you” Those words kept repeating in my head. I know it’s not normal and probably you’ll think that I do have feelings for Harry but--- yes there is a ‘but’-- NO. I do not. To me Harry is just a friend… Yes, he is JUST a friend.

“So is Harry your boyfriend or what?” Cedric asked me. His eyes were straight to my eyes. We stopped walking.
“What’s with your tone?” I asked him. Was he actually having this conversation with me? He clearly knows that Harry and I are close friends, so what is up with all the jealousy?
“Look—if you can’t even answer me that question, then…”
“Then what?” I interrupted. Cedric and I have never this kind of fight before. “Cedric please…” I had nothing else to say. I held his left hand and he looked at me. He looked upset and disappointed, it was like there was a part of him that didn’t want to stay in the relationship any longer. I clenched it tightly and not going to let it go. The moment was silent and felt vague. Even now I can’t seem to remember what happened. All I know is that after we had that talk, Cedric and I were talking again on the next day.

Christmas break finally arrived and it was time for students to pack up their bags and leave. Unlucky for me, my parents are going abroad so they’re asking if I could stay at Hogwarts for the whole Christmas vacation.

“You sure you’ll be okay?” Cedric told me while touching my cheeks and was leaning too close to me. He was already packed and ready to leave. “Yes.” I nodded. Cedric looked at the school one more time. The school was so silent. Some students were staying but I don’t think they’ll be that many. “Don’t worry” I uttered. Cedric smiled and held my hands. “Don’t try to have too much fun.”

We both kissed.

Cedric and the rest of the students left Hogwarts while I was stuck. Most of the students left were not even the people I like or talk to. I walked to the Great Hall to get some lunch. A couple of students were there, about 4 of them. Was this even worth to stay? NO. I walked to the Hogwarts Lake and sat there for awhile. I felt so alone. I had no one to talk to, no one to play with. Unconsciously I started to feel sleepy, so I decided to take a long nap.

The next thing I knew is that everything felt cold. As I woke up, snow was already covering up half of my body. When I looked around it was already dark, probably 6 in the evening. I went back to the Great Hall to eat dinner.

“Cho!” a familiar voice called me. When I turned around my heart beat so fast.
“Harry.” I smiled. Why was I too happy to see him and why is my heart beating so fast. This never happened before. What’s wrong?
“Do you want to join me for dinner?” Harry asked.
“Y-yes”

We both ate dinner together. Harry was the only person I know in the whole Great Hall. It was nice for once to be with a friend. We talked about a lot of stuffs just like old times. It was like the conversation we had the other day never even happened. I’m just really happy to see Harry and to be able to talk to him again.

Remember when I said I felt alone and unlucky about getting stuck at Hogwarts for the Christmas break?—I take it back. Being with Harry was a delight. I’m always having the time of my life when I’m with him.

To make the Christmas Break fun for the both of us, he decided to make a list of things to do everyday. Last time we played Quidditch, just the two of us. We also played hide and seek all around the campus. It was very, very hard. The other day, we made so much noise running around Hogwarts and no one even scolded us. Today, we’ll be jogging around. Not that it’s not fun, but we decided to leave some of the cool stuffs waiting. It’s quite a long vacation.

It was quite a long jog, we even reached the forest.
“Harry, this is the forbidden forest. We’re not allowed here.” I held his right arm.
“I think I saw something.” Harry was focused at something. I didn’t know what it was but he was definitely serious about it. “Stay here.” Harry added. He walked inside the forbidden forest and left me behind. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him take his wand.
“Hurry back!” I shouted at the remaining silhouette of his back.

But he didn’t hurry back. Twenty minutes have already passed and he was still not back. I was fidgeting since it was getting darker. I couldn’t wait any longer, I have to go after him. What if he’s dead?

Where are you Harry?

EEEEK! What happeneeed? Is happening? EEEEK!

And Cho, you do like him, admit it! Hahaha, loooooove the update by the way. And it is very cool that Harry and Cho are getting along, and being friends and stuff lol

yeah, Cho should realize that by now. She's holding back, that's why.

Chapter 6


“Psst… Harry” I called out silently. Of course I went after him. What else was I suppose to do run off to the Head Master and tell him Harry’s in danger?--- Now that I’ve think about it, yeah, I should’ve done that.

I drew out my wand but I didn’t want to attract any living specie around so I decided not to cast a ‘Lumos’ spell.
“Harry?” I whispered loudly. He couldn’t get that far right?

The Forbidden Forest is truly scary. Everything was dark and foggy. You can hear footsteps that are possibly not a 2 legged person. The trees are old and it feels like it’s all looking at you or probably alive. I kept moving my way inside the forest and hoping that I could spot Harry.

Out of nowhere there were footsteps again. I was sweating a lot. I keep repeating “Expelliarmus” in case someone would attack me from behind. My head was going left and right, my hands were trembling and my feet were shaking. I’m not going to die inside this rigid forest, no. I possibly can not. I’m a witch for heaven sake.

I heard the footsteps again. It was dark and foggy so I couldn’t seem to see who I am dealing with. “Who’s there?” I shouted. “I mean no harm to this place. I’m just looking for my friend.” Not my best line. I had nothing else to say. If I fight back I might get killed and if I don’t, I still might get killed.

Oh come on Harry, you’re killing me. Show up!

The footsteps were getting nearer and nearer. The moon light was not doing a very good job in lighting this forest and who knows what kind of dreadful creature lives in this black, wild forest.

Suddenly there was silence. My heart is just pounding and pounding. There was no wind, no sound, nothing. Even the footsteps had stop and eventually me too. I was standing so still that I couldn’t move my legs even if I told them to run. I only had my wand clutched on my hand and possibly ready to attack anytime.

I could hear someone moving and I feel like it was close to me. I wanted to turn around but I was too much of a coward to do so. It feels like someone was reaching behind my back and it is getting nearer and nearer and nearer.

“Cho!” someone pushed me from behind.
“HARRY!” I slapped his arm so hard. “I was literally scared. I couldn’t--- I was trying to--- Where have you been?” Of course I was mad at him. I thought someone was going to kill me was that something to be happy about?

“You SCARED me to death Harry!” we were walking back to the school.
“I’m sorry.”
“So what exactly did you see?”
“Nothing. I said ‘I just thought’ I saw something.”
I looked at Harry confusedly. “Wow, you went inside the bloody forest and you’re now telling me you THOUGHT you saw something? That’s rubbish!”
Harry didn’t say much while going back to Hogwarts but he did stare at me a lot. It was quite weird but I have gotten pretty much used to it right now.

After the incident we didn’t bother to eat dinner. Perhaps the nerves on every inch of my body are not getting away unless I go to sleep. We finally reached the staircase and it’s time to go to our respective rooms. Harry was still staring at me with a smile still stuck on his face.
“What?” I asked him.
“Nothing.”
“No, it couldn’t be nothing. You’ve been staring at me and smiling the whole time we went back. Surely there must be something wrong or at least, something funny.” I tried to reason out with him.
“You look cute when you care that much about me.” He said. After that, he kissed me on the cheeks and went upstairs faster than you can say ‘Quidditch’.

For awhile the stairs started moving and Harry might already be in the Gryffindor’s common room, I was still standing on the same spot. So why was I suddenly like this? Blushing and hyper? Was this a normal behavior?

“Harry’s just a friend—just a friend” I kept repeating while going to the Raveclaw’s common room.

Harry's just a friend and I'm just a flobberworm, you can be soooooo silly at times Cho! It's hysterical!

I'd DIE if I went into the Forbidden Forest, Cho you are so freaking brave! *hugs Cho*

Chapter 7



It wasn’t that long when school came back. In an instant Hogwarts is again filled with students. The halls were again filled with bickering and laughs. Hogwarts was indeed no longer quiet. I ran over to the great hall and looked for Cedric. I missed him all this time. I wanted to see him badly.

But he wasn’t there…

Where could he be? Does he know that school will start officially tomorrow? Has something happened?
The truth is, Cedric never wrote a single letter for me over the break. Not even once. I tried sending one but I got no reply. Has something happened to our relationship? Am I being abandoned all of a sudden?


“Cho! Have you seen Harry?” Hermione interrupted.
Harry. Now why do I feel like I have butterflies on my stomach every time I hear his name? “n-no” I replied. Everyone is excited to see him since they all know that the D.A practice would resume.

I didn’t bother showing up at the practice. I’ve been waiting for Cedric to show up for days now. He is still not here. No one seemed to worry as well. No one ever asked me where he was. Was I the only one looking and waiting for him?

The next day I still didn’t show up for practice. I’ll show up if Cedric does. I even saw the Slytherins still on-the-look-out for the D.A. They should just give up. It’s been months that they have done this and they have never found a single piece of evidence, it’s just pathetic.


“You!” Malfoy and his posse approached me. “Roaming around the hall at this time is prohibited.” Malfoy said with his eyebrow slightly twitched.
“And you’re allowed?” I answered back. He laughed at me with the rest of his pathetic friends.
“You don’t understand… Ravenclaw.” he looked at my school uniform badge. “Professor Umbridge has given us permission.”
“To do what exactly?” I still hate Umbridge and her little Inquisitorial Club or whatever they are called. “You’re forgetting that Professor Dumbledore is the head master of this school and not silly Umbridge.” I looked at him in the eye. I was ready to fight this blonde git.
“50 points will be deducted to Ravenclaw then.” He smirked then they all walked away like they owned the place.


The following week I decided to take a rest at Hogwarts Lake. Cedric never arrived. I was getting paranoid and paranoid by the second.
“Cho.” Harry came up to me with Ron and Hermione. “Are you alright? You’ve been absent during practice.”
“It’s Cedric.” I looked down.
“You miss him do you?” Hermione sat beside me and held my hand.
“Of course I miss him. He’s been so far away.” My eyes started to tear up. I could see Hermione and Ron looked at Harry who stood in front of me and not saying a word.
“We all do Cho. Cedric has been a great friend to all of us.” Hermione tried to calm me down.
“You shouldn’t be like this, Cho. Cedric wouldn’t like that.” Ron uttered.
“Yeah, come to practice Cho. We’re practicing Patronuses this month.” Hermione smiled warmly.
“Look if it would make you feel better, Cedric would never leave you.” Harry finally spoke.
“But—I miss him.” My voice started to crack. “Last night, Malfoy and his friends are still out to get us. He deducted 50 points from me for loitering around and referred to me as Ravenclaw.” They all frowned at the same time.
“Malfoy is not really a problem to us. We can take them down at any time.” Hermione looked at me. “Come to practice. We all miss Cedric like you do that is why we are all doing this.”


What? They all miss him so that’s why they’re doing this? What are they trying to say? No one is worried that he’s not yet back?
“I-I don’t get it? Cedric hasn’t been back since the break.” I asked them. They all exchanged confused looks.
“What do you mean, Cho?” Harry asked me.
“Cedric—He hasn’t been back since the Christmas break. I’ve been waiting for him ever since then.”
“No Cho.” Hermione said to me “Cedric has been dead since last year… at the Triwizard Tournament… remember?”
“Dead?”

How can Cedric have died when I have been with him all term?

OHMYGOOOOOOSH! I KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP! She's having hallucinations maybeh? Or maybehhhhh, I don't know, but this story is liiiiiiiike, REALLY GOOD!

Chapter 8


Cedric is DEAD?

How could this happen? He has been with me all term! I looked at the three of them and they all stared at me like I’m the one who is psycho.
“No! Cedric is alive!” I answered back. He is alive. Why are they saying he’s dead?
“Cho, listen to me” Hermione talked to me, her hands were on my shoulder. “Last term at the triwizard tournament, Cedric was killed by the Avada Kedavra spell. Harry saw it. He saw it all” Hermione looked at me she looked so sure and yet I can’t believe her one bit. I looked at Harry and he was just there, standing, he didn’t say much. He just stared. Ron did the same thing.

I shook my head “No! Cedric is alive” I repeated. Why do they not believe me? “I can prove it” that I am sure of. I have been with Cedric all this term and I can prove it to them that he is still alive.
“Oh this will be good” Ron mumbled to Hermione and I saw her stepped on his foot.

“Harry, at the front gate.” I looked at Harry. He witnessed that time Cedric came to get me. “You were there. Cedric fetch me at the front gate.” I said. But then Harry looked at me like he didn’t know that one. Of course he knows. He was there. He was standing with me when Cedric came.
“No Cho.” He spoke. “The person who came to fetch you was Marietta Edgecomb, your best friend. She came to see you because you didn’t catch up with her in riding the thestral” he added.

That’s impossible. I did remember I was with Marietta but, but, but---

“When you guys created the Dumbledore's Army. Cedric and I signed up as members. I remembered how you looked at him” I glared at Harry. “And ever since we entered you have been pushing me away. You don’t speak to me often...”
“That’s not true” Harry interrupted me but then I didn’t believe him. He was avoiding me. “…We don’t hang out like we used to…”
“Not true…” he interrupted again.
“Ever since the Dumbledore Army you never had a single time to spend with me…”
“Cho…” he raised his voice “That’s not true.” He took a deep breath and Hermione stopped him for awhile.
“You entered the DA without C-cedric” she looked at me while her hands were holding Harry’s arm. “You were together with Michael… Michael Corner” Hermione said.
“You were the one without the time. You were busy talking to Michael and spending your time with him” Harry took a step forward and Hermione tried to stop him.

“That time at the Room of Requirement. You guys where arguing about Cedric weren’t you?” I pointed at Hermione and Harry “Hermione wanted Cedric to be the assistant while Harry opposed” This time I’m sure about it. They can’t make any more excuses with this proof.

The three of them just looked puzzled, perplexed, baffled, confused. They were all exchanging looks and Hermione’s eyebrow was raised so high.
“She got it all wrong, Hermione” Ron whispered but I can still hear it.
“Cho, what you’re saying right now is not making any sense” she shook her head and still looked confused. “We were trying to make YOU as Harry’s assistant. Your performance is quite excellent during the time.” She looked at Harry this time “Harry didn’t want you to be the assistant because he’s worried t-that, that you might get tired.” Hermione just sounded scared telling me that.

Am I going crazy? I see Cedric but they don’t. I feel him but they don’t.

“At the Quidditch Pitch when you told me you liked me Harry” I feel like crying now. That was the last piece of proof I had. “Cedric interrupted us.” But again, they had the same look they had 5 minutes ago.
“That was Michael who interrupted us” Harry answered.

My heart nearly died. I wanted to scream. I wanted to punch someone. I wanted to become violent for once. I wanted to just shout and let this all go away. Where did I go wrong? How did Cedric die without me noticing it? I was at the Triwizard, I saw him. I did then why didn’t I saw him dead?

I cried at the moment. It was too much to handle for one day. I am living in a nightmare that I didn’t want to wake up. Cedric is gone! I just kept crying and crying. Even though Hermione hugged me tightly and Harry tapping my back lightly, I still felt alone. I wanted to be alone. I wanted to disappear.
