Like, how come he's fallen behind every single homework imaginable??? He wasn't even taking Transfiguration anymore, just because he was doing that on his own. There was something about the new Professor that he just didn't like. And it will hurt enormously if he turned out to be a disaster, what with Kingsley still in his mind and all. So, he'd rather think that either Kingsley or Magnus were still teaching, and he was just studying on his own for some strange reason.

That's why he'd spend too much time here, right?

With Arya. Because they were away from food, and she also needed to study, no? In case OWLs ever came back. Or NEWTs for that matter.

Arya all but dragged her school bag behind her as she followed Treyen into the lounge. It wasn't that she was against studying, just that she didn't have any proper distractions. No food, her pets were... somewhere with other school pets, and she didn't have a bathing suit on to jump into the tub. And they would probably be in here all afternoon working on the homework she'd yet to do. The young girl had only dropped Runes, and a few other electives that she didn't need, and she still was behind.

How was this possible?

"What do you wanna start on first?" She tossed her bag on the table and slumped into the seat, bright eyes on her co-prefect. This was his doing after all, so he should chose what they started on.

And she'd chose what their distraction would be.

Seriously, though, he could work very little if Arya wasn't the least excited about working away from food.

He smiled, though, as she took her designated seat, and looked her way, "Well, you've been attending Transfiguration lessons, right?" he asked, not even bothering on mentioning any Professor's name, and Arya shouldn't mention it either.

If she had then they could work on that, or some real DADA that was laid there in some of the books in their small library. They could also do CoMC since Arya loved that class very much. Treyen thought greatly of MacFusty, so, no problem in talking about winged horses and such.

"We could work on that, or Care of Magical Creatures," let's leave DADA for another time, yeah?

Arya wasn't excited about working away from food. It just wasn't something she did! But for Treyen, her best friend, she would.

"If you want to call them that, then yeah. I've been attending those 'lessons'." Arya used the word very loosely since the man didn't allow them to call him professor and he didn't ACT like a professor. Not to mention his classes were far from the ones she'd had in the past.

Crazy Man.

She did have the stuff for the class though, cause she enjoyed it overall. Not as much as charms, which she excelled in, but enough to continue it to OWLs. Arya had begun to pull out the work for that class, when he mentioned her favorite. Hm.

"Maybe creatures first.... since we might dabble into that a bit with Transfigurations." Just not as much as they did in the class. She refused to do to her kneazle what SHAW did to his. Where ever Perseus was.

Oh, man. He'd taken the best decision ever by not attending Transfiguration this time around, then? That was--RIGHT. Either Kingsley or Magnus was still teaching, of course, he forgot to think that way.

He couldn't help but wonder, though, thanks to Arya's expression, what had been going on in there. Conan wasn't one to discuss classes with, and Kurumi was designated to Arithmancy. Sierra for Potions. So, he had forgotten to ask around for this particular one. Not that he wanted to know. No. Not really.

"Creatures, then," Treyen didn't even ask about what part of Magical Creatures had anything to do with Transfiguration, because he knew how those two could be connected. One, the human transfiguration, like they'd covered before. And two, animals transfigured into objects, which was most likely what had happened, given Arya's look.

He took away the book he'd been reading about Transfiguration and non-verbals, before taking his notes on the MacFuzzy fella. "Last class was supposed to be about winged horses, right?" before MacFusty remembered he had a appointment to attend to.

Appointments. Dates. He looked up from his notes, he'd been meaning to ask Arya about Sabel, especially since they returned from their holiday break, but if she was going to react like she had in the Common Room, then he'd rather not ask at all. Which is why he was still pondering on whether or not he should ask her.

Opening her bag, she shuffled through all her personal belongings and pulled out the books for creatures. She was actually glad he chose this subject rather than transfigurations. Not only was it her favorite, but they were gonna be studying her favorite magical creature. "Right... I'm not sure what exactly it was gonna be though, which winged horses and whatnot."

Pushing away a few of her books, she kept the one specific to winged horses and tapped the cover with her fingers, eyes going to him. "I say we start with a basic overview, then get more in-depth."

And then she would probably head out to ride some of the abraxans, for educational reasons of course. "We know there are four known kinds of winged horses, two of which we have here." Arya was just gonna assume that he was looking at her like that cause he was confused about something she obviously was unaware of.

Treyen was going to say that maybe MacFusty was going to open up with all winged horses, and then probably focus on Abraxans, since, after all, they were the easier ones to check out at Hogwarts. Thestrals weren't for everyone. He said nothing, of course, because Arya decided to do what MacFusty's plan had been all along.

He merely nodded, and eyed the book.

The question about Sabel was clearly forgotten as soon as she started to talk about the creatures. He focused so much easily once the subject had begun. "Right. So, we have Abraxans, Aethonans, Granians and Thestrals. On the grounds we can find Abraxans and Thestrals unless Beauxbatons visits us again." He smiled at that thought, though, how could he not? "All of them are larger than the regular horse, except the Granian," the largest of them all being the Abraxan, "Maybe that's why they're the fastest kind. Like a Seeker in Quidditch." Everything was related to Quidditch. Or could be related to it.

Arya didn't even need the book on winged horses, having had read it a million times before for pleasure. So she leaned back in her seat and drew her wand, twirling it in her hand idly as she listen to Treyen give an overview. She nodded her head, unaware that he'd even been thinking about her boyfriend. "Yeah, cause smaller usually means faster, and winged horses are used for racing. I wonder if they were breed with horses..." She mused. Not thinking about the sport that, like quidditch, seemed such a waste.

Not that she'd say that to Treyen knowing how much he loved Quidditch. Not that he didn't already know how she felt about the sport.

"And Thestrals are the only breed that can't be seen by all, only those that have witnessed death." Thankfully she still had yet to fall into that category. "They can be ridden by all though... it's just harder, and a bit weird." But also exhilarating.

Yes! Exactly like Quidditch. Though, Jake had been a giant and he'd been one of the best Seekers Hufflepuff has ever had. Like Diggory. Heh, well, Jake didn't end up dead, that's their difference.

He ACTUALLY wrote that down. Not the Diggory reference, but the smaller/fastest one.

Arya knew this whole subject by heart, didn't she? Then why were they studying it if she didn't even eyed the book? Oh, he had an idea, especially after she mentioned the thing about Thestrals. They shouldn't read into facts, they should talk about opinions and theories, because facts were there in their textbooks, AND BOTH of them seemed to be very knowledgeable about winged horses too. Arya knew much more, though, he knew that.

"That is why they look like that, to resemble death, no? I mean, they're the only ones who differ when it comes to being perceived by others, kind of like death too." That was a probable reason.

"And maybe the reason behind it is very clear. You can never see what you don't know what it is, what isn't named. So, once you see death happening, you'll be able to see what's somehow related to it." Mind you? Lockhart? This wasn't Divination.

He was writing things down... she should probably be doing the same since they seemed to be throwing around theories instead of facts they both already knew. But Arya was gonna be lazy right now, so she pulled out her self writing quill to let it do the writing for her.

"Yeah, death is always perceived differently by everyone, so it would make sense that they would be perceived differently as well. And it makes sense that people see them as omens and think they're aggresive," She took her eyes off the quill and let them settle on Treyen. "When really they're just as sweet as the other winged horses." Truth. The fifth year remembered riding them first term.

Sucking her bottom lip in between her teeth, she considered Treyen's words. "So you think that we can't see them because we can't see death? And... when we do witness it, we become aware of something else we were unaware of." She nodded her head again. "Makes sense that both are... misunderstood."

WAIT. Why was he writing things down when had that thing that Ellie had given him? Right. That was in his Common Room, NEXT to his Potions notes, which he now realized were left there. GREAT.

Treyen couldn't help but raise his eyebrow at Arya with the comment about the sweetness of winged horses. Riiiight, of course, super sweet. "We can just say that they're nothing truly different from the others, rather than the way they're each perceived," it has nothing to do with sweetness. And how could she prove it? Because he couldn't.

"Yeah, I think that's what happens. I know that people change when someone close to them dies, I suppose that if you saw someone die, it will change your perspective on things, no?" It only makes sense.

To Treyen, at least, it did. He hasn't been around death as much, for he couldn't remember anything about the only one that had mattered to his sister, but, yeah, he's heard things.

Arya rolllled her eyes at Treyen. He was either being so objective about Thestrals, or just didn't like them. Not knowing how he could dislike the creatures though, she decided on the latter. "Fine, we'll say that for research purposes." And she'd keep this opinion about the winged horses to herself, for now.

"Agreed." She nodded her head. "On everything we've discussed about Thestrals and Granians." That only left two, right? Arya's eyes flicked to her twirling wand. "Aethonans. They're chestnut and really popular in this area. Britain I mean."

The rolling of the eyes was not perceived by this Prefect, by the way.

Treyen nodded as she seemed to agree with what he was saying, but that was his opinion anyway, she may feel the exact opposite. Chances were she was, but that's only because, to her eyes, she saw the greatness in every creature. Treyen could still be as objective as he wanted to. Unless Nifflers were the topic.

"And Ireland." He added, after listening to her words, "Their reason for their popularity fails me, but I suppose it has to do with either the color or their strength...or maybe they DO well in this weather," he shrugged, this kind of question should be answered by MacFuzzy, though.

"I think Abraxans is the ones we're more than familiar with, since we have a few of those in the stables on the grounds." And he KNEW that Arya had been there already, multiple times, probably. Amazingly enough, the more familiar breed of winged horses didn't mean most knowledgeable. "So, they're the most powerful, and require to be handled by someone with a great deal of strength," otherwise, well, bye-bye horse. "Maybe their size makes them perfect for travelling long distances," he said, with one shrug. Beauxbatons came with horses, didn't they?

Oh yeah. How was it that she was always forgetting Ireland? "Them too. I suppose it's the weather, cause it's not easy to adjust to without the assistance of magic or some sort of protection." She mused, eyes on her quill as it scribbled every word they spoke. "Or they could be easier to care for...."

"And for carrying many wizards long distances." She added. "Plus they're really beautiful to look at. I think it has to do with their size and coloring." Of course that was her not being objective again. "Them being sorta easy to handle at such a young age might be the reason we have them on the grounds." It was something for her to research later. And she WOULD research that later. Because she practically lived in those stables, and she knew that her co-prefect knew that as well.

True. The weather was always important. Potions had taught him that, since there were ingredients that needed to be handled frozen unless you wanted a major explosion before actually brewing the potion.

"Easier to catch, too, since they're not the fastest kind," he said, after she was done, and after he'd stopped agreeing with her.

They'd probably covered everything there was to know about winged horses, right? He eyed the textbook, and everything had been said, "You know, I do wonder how McFusty's class was going to be like," because he'd been planning to talk to them about winged horses, right?

"I don't know... I bet we were gonna ride them!" She bounced in her seat a little, and the quill stopped writing when she plucked it off the parchment and placed it back into her bag. "Or maybe he was going to just introduce us to the creatures, since there seemed to be a good few underclassmen there." And it wouldn't be wise to let green-faced firsties ride such powerful animals.

She grinned at Treyen, "I bet we could go grab a couple for riding."

It was clear that Treyen didn't share the excitement Arya had over riding winged horses, though, he couldn't deny that he was wondering if riding a Granian would be anything like those final moments on the broom before you caught the snitch.

"Maybe," he said, with a shrug.

And then she suggested they did ride the Abraxans? Without MacFusty's permission? Treyen raised an eyebrow, but soon laughed after her suggestion, "I think...we should get going and get on time to the Common Room," because Lafay often wandered the kitchens.

Go to the common rooms?

That was not the response she was expecting to hear, but she supposed there was some logic behind his response. Maybe. She still wanted to ride though. "I guess so," Arya cast at her belongings, which began packing themselves. "We can just go to the stables tomorrow." Cause he hadn't declined her offer, which meant he was considering it, right? Right.

Aha!

He knew that look. Arya had been expecting him to say YES to the horses, correct? Sorry, Arya, not at the moment. "Yes, exactly, there's plenty of time left to head there," see how didn't mention any date at all?

Treyen didn't gather his things by magic, he did it the Muggle way. Arya was just too lazy. CLEARLY.

But now that everything was in place, "I like studying with you," because, at least when it came to Magical Creatures, they had a bit of a different approach to them and it was always refreshing to hear that other side. They were going to be doing that more than often as the term came to an end and OWLs made an appearance, no?

"Common Room, then?" he said, as he took his bag and walked two steps away from her. He was waiting for Arya, like any gentleman would.

She DID notice that he wasn't giving out any dates, but she still figured that she would be able to change his mind about riding... even if it took all their years at Hogwarts. Not one to give up easily, and he knew that.

CLEARLY, she was lazy. It was late! And they had a curfew to make.

Not that she'd call it being lazy. She was just practicing for OWLs. Mmhmm

"I like studying with you too," She agreed with a head nod. "We have to keep this up." It was nice having a friend to study with that didn't agree with everything she said, especially when that person was her best friend. Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she stood too and fell in step with him.... or kinda kept slowly walking and looking back at him. "Common room. Then we can finish discussing when we'll go riding." GRIN.

There. She knew what he'd meant, and she knew that he was trying to get away from it. Fine, fine, they'll be riding Abraxans some time in the future, probably not this term, but he was certain Arya wouldn't mind.

Plus, he could distract her at the moment, with OWLs, and Prefect stuff.

"Sure, yeah, let's discuss that." He finally said, walking out of the Prefects' Lounge. Treyen was more than certain that THAT discussion will end up in them agreeing on leaving that for the end of term, when OWLs were done. It gave him enough time to find another excuse or tell her that he truly didn't want to ride a winged horse.

Astronomy. Strangest subject ever. Also kinda boring in Nessie's opinion.

Really what did the stars have to do with anything? Could they not just be beautiful diamonds in the sky, without names, without meanings just stars. This subject would be so much easier if so, but it was not.

Anyways this Puff needed to focus on studying, NEWTs were not getting farther away, only closer and the more studying she got the better. Usually the library, dorm or common room was where she studied but for a change she wanted somewhere real quiet and there weren't many places in Hogwarts like that. What she could have done was shlep to the RoR and study there, but a better place popped in her mind. And that place, was this place. The desks in the Prefect's and Captain's lounge.

Quietly with a concentrated pout on her face the red head went on making and reading over notes to do with Astro. The more she got done today the better, because she actually wanted some free time this weekend considering it would be the event then.

Meeeh. Studying. Such a mission.

Ella was pouting, okay? She was pouting because she was forcing herself to study and it wasn't even for a fun subject like DADA or Ancient runes. NOPE. It was History of Magic. SIGHHHHHHHH. The blonde had nothing against the subject, okay? It just sort of made her want to curl up with her elephant stuffy and sleep when she got to reading. She had OWLs to worry about though so no sleeping allowed.

The sixteen year old wandered over to the desks and found another pouter had beaten her there. Mini!beam. "Does the studying ever end, Loch Nessie?" Dramatic ploppage from the blonde. "Because I don't think my brain can handle anymore." Seriously.

Polaris was a star that--

A voice interrupted her. Was someone here to save her from her studying miseries? Because it had only been a few minutes and she ALREADY wanted to stop. Still pouting the red head looked up to see a pouter just like her, except with blonde hair. Her kiddo. She got smiles for sure.

Giggle. That question was amusing, but Ness understood exactly where Ellacutie was coming from. Studying was like a never ending road trip where the only entertainment you had in the car, was close to nothing. "Eventually. Think of it like this, OWLs will be over and then it will be summer" That was called positive thinking and it was what Badgers did best. "What you got with you? You want help?" You know maybe Ella was doing Astro too and they could work together, or maybe she was doing another subject. Either way Ness always wanted to be there for her kiddo.

And did Ella have any snacks on her by the way? This badger was just a little hungry.
