Madame Puddifoot's is a quiet tea shop where you can meet up with your friends.
The tea shop is laid out in a typical English tea room fashion. Lace doilies cover each table on top of the flower patterned table cloths. In the middle of each is a small container with a tea light candle, ready to be lit for those on a romantic retreat. The windows are half covered by fancy net curtains, leaving just enough room at the top to see over and down Hogsmeade's High Street. Little flower and heart covered cushions are on each seat awaiting your arrival.
Sapphira Puddifoot keeps the shop this way because she has to. But she has no desire to look upon all the fancy decorations herself, which is why you'll most likely find her in the back room. She'll come and serve you, but make sure you know what you want to order as she doesn't have all day.

He had it won, until you brought that up, and really, he had little way of explaining it away. SHE had persuaded him to use it on her. But then, what did that mean exactly? Shaking his head lightly gave her a amused look. "Well just because I didn't want to use my favour didn't mean I didn't want you." Never mind that cooties were still a moderate influence on his pre-Maggie kissing experience, of which was nil. But he didn't much mind being the one to be persuaded, she was welcome to continue persuading him too.

Had he said the wrong thing?
It wasn't bad, despite the eye-rolling, which was USUALLY bad, but then, he couldn't help but grin. "Gosh Maggie, thanks, I'd love to, you're the best," he parroted for her benefit. "But really, I would love to. And if you want to..." was now the time? "... you could visit me in France." There was no doubt in his mind that her company would be appreciated, and he was sure that she and Avery would get along, Ashely too he imagined. But then, the whole prospect of the 'meet the parents' thing was... terrifying. He was scared for Maggie already.
Laying his 'fears' to rest so that he might be able to focus on food things, he nodded as Maggie conveyed her wishes. Zeke nodded before repeating her order - a habit he'd developed after years of ordering experience, "Carrot cake and green tea, coming right up." He pushed himself away from the table to approach the counter where he relayed their order of carrot cake, green tea, tea creams and a chelsea bun. After completing the transaction, Zeke returned to their table, shoving his coin pouch back into his pocket.

Maggie's eyes remained on the menu for a few seconds longer before she lifted her head again to look at him. "You did?" Well, like, of course he did. She DID own a mirror after all. But like....really? "You didn't look too thrilled at first." Which had kind of almost sort of offended her back then. Okay, it totally had. Like, he'd just SHRUGGED when she'd asked him if he wanted to kiss her. Seriously, what kind of answer was that?
Hehe. At least he was following her orders NOW.
Giggling she nodded in approval. Cool. So now it all depended on if her grandparents were going to reply to her letter any time soon. They really had been awfully quiet. Like, they hadn't even CALLED on Christmas. All they'd done was send a kind of generic Merry Christmas card. Hmm. Maybe-

He did? He did... kinda. Well really, want was a strong word, but he DID like her so technically it was true. "I always thought you were pretty," he supplied, holding her gaze, the menu forgotten. "And I did kinda like getting your attention." As infrequently as it happened, those instances were memorable. It was also a good reason to hold onto that favour, it meant she couldn't forget him. Zeke wrinkled his nose a little with the whole not-looking-thrilled thing, that wasn't right. He wasn't NOT thrilled, he was... more... something else. "You made me nervous," he confessed, because that was largely it. Nervous because the kissing thing hadn't been a thing until then, and he had NO idea what to expect or what he was doing. So yeah, did they have to talk about this now?
It had occurred to him that he'd never been to the US of A, so the idea was tempting for that reason as well as the obvious... but those thoughts were quickly forgotten and replaced. Perhaps it was too soon. "I guess?" was his initial assessment, "Mum still works though, and Dad likes to pretend people aren't around... so it's nothing special, more just a reason to use the house, otherwise it stays empty." THAT was their tradition, go, see, go home.

It was a nice compliment but he was going to have to do better in terms of explaining his initial reluctance to her proposition. What he said next was a lot better for some reason. So their previous interactions hadn't been random, good to know. She just continued to watch him until he concluded with....that. That in turn made her smirk slightly. "Do I still make you nervous?" Maggie asked softly, leaning forward in her chair a little. Hmm?
Oh, so it WAS a family vacation of sorts.
Even though his parents wouldn't really be around, it would still be her staying with his family. Which was........something to think about long and hard first. "Right." Maggie gave him a long look before lowering her gaze to their table top. It would be weird to just leave it at that but she wasn't exactly sure what had just happened either. "Well-" She drew small circles on the table with her index finger and looked up at his face again, a smile on her lips. "-I'll let you know when I've figured out what my summer's gonna be like." Good for now, yes?
Maggie had followed his movement with his hand with her eyes. She reached out and lightly ran her fingertips over the palm of his hand, watching her own fingers a little absently. Oh. What? She quickly stopped moving, instead taking his hand in her properly as she looked back up. "I guess I'll just see what that is when it gets here." The blush on her cheeks could be attributed to the overall warmth in the shop, right? Right.

Everyone thought she was pretty. WELL OF COURSE THEY DID... because she was, so he simply confirmed this with a nod. Was he supposed to have said something else? Somehow he felt that he was being interviewed for the role of boyfriend, despite knowing that he already had the position. It was, interesting. He could also see how Maggie would find amusement in making him nervous, girls were so weird like that. "Sometimes," he replied truthfully, some colour coming to his cheeks. He wasn't blushing per se, but it WAS a little warm in here, was it not?
It was the wrong time. Where family was a thing, it was weird and... for him it was even scary. It was like one of those weird 'big deal' 'make or break' things. So when she hesitating, he shook his head lightly. "Seriously, no pressure... there'll be other times." If not this year, then maybe next? Or not at all? He was flexible. It was just an offer, one based on the fact that she'd invited HIM to L.A. and secondly because she seemed to be hinting at wanting to go.
... how was he doing? Passing? He felt like he was scraping in a pass mark at this stage.
It was a curious thing, watching Maggie trace patterns on his palm. When he offered his hand, it was not what he expected, but he didn't much mind her touch, even if it was a little ticklish. When she placed her hand in his properly, he gave her fingers a gentle squeeze. It seemed as if he wasn't the only one that was warm in here. "They're fairly standard, I'm sure you'll have seen them before." And for once, as much as he loved his pastries, he was happy to wait their arrival patiently.
"So tell me something I don't know about you," he said, his eyes locking on hers. This was a date after all, and he really couldn't say he knew all that much about his GIRLFRIEND, so he had to fix that.

It was a good feeling to know she had that kind of power over him. And while she wouldn't admit it out loud, occasionally it was a mutual sentiment. Although maybe nervous was a bit of a strong word. To be honest, Maggie just couldn't tell sometimes, it was hard to define emotions.
It wasn't like she DIDN'T want to go, she just felt like it wasn't...a good idea? Not yet anyway. Or well, at least it wasn't something they should plan on their first official date. So when Zeke shook his head she felt relieved. "Okay." And because she felt the need to say it she added, "I would want to go though. Some day." Like, she wasn't opposed to the idea in general.
Between all those British terms and the fact that she didn't really eat any cakes in general Maggie was completely lost. So when Zeke suggested she had seen what he'd ordered before, she simply shrugged. "Maybe." Probably not. Like, even if she went out with her mom here, neither of them would order cake so...well, they'd see, wouldn't they?
Talking about herself was Maggie's specialty. Only WHAT to say? What was interesting? Well, everything was interesting about her obviously. Only she had to find something that...sounded like she was sharing something bit without actually BEING one of her big secrets. Hmm. "Weeeellll..." She dragged out the word a little, lightly running her fingernails over his hand. "I didn't know any of this existed until I turned 11." She let her eyes wander around the shop for a moment. This being actual magic.
Brynn was in a great mood as she walked through Hogsmeade. She was really looking forward on going on an actual date with Keegan. The 16 year old was slightly nervous about it though, even if she wasn't completely sure why. She hung out with him plenty and they got along great as far as she was concerned. But she pushed the butterflies away and headed into Madame Puddifoot's.
She had never actually been inside the tea shop and wondered for a brief second if maybe they should have chosen the Three Broomsticks. It would have probably been much louder and more crowded there though, so she was sure she could get part the frilly decor and they'd have a good time either way.
Looking around, she didn't immediately notice him there already so she chose an empty table not far from the door. Pulling the menu in front of her, she kept the door in view. That way one of them would be sure to see the other.

His hopes weren’t HIGH, but he HAD hopes. Right at this minute though, his only hope was that their cake would come, he was growing hungry.

Maggie nodded. "Yes." Obviously an American school. She doubted they sent acceptance letters across the ocean. Unless you specifically asked for them or whatever. She still wasn't entirely sure how that had all worked out. "Well, because....we moved here." Which was not entirely true. It was more like, she had moved here because she was going to Hogwarts.
Saved by the bell – or waiter in this case – Maggie smiled as their order was being set down. She pulled the tea towards her with both hands, for now just eyeing her carrot cake. So that was....that. Was it good? Had Zeke ordered the right thing for her there?

Maggie nodded. "Yes." Obviously an American school. She doubted they sent acceptance letters across the ocean. Unless you specifically asked for them or whatever. Yes seemed like an obvious answer to his question, but he still didn't quite understand it. Was there something he was missing? .... "Oh cool, I don't think I knew you lived there..." but then again, he supposed the signs were there. Was he just too dumb to see it? Probably.
He wasted no time in jamming one of his scones before adding a dollop of cream to it and taking a generous bite out of it too. Was she going to eat the cake? Or just look at it? Because cake should never go wasted.
"If you don't like it, you could have a scone, they're not as sweet." Unless you did what he did... and packed the sugar on top of it. And considering she wasn't into cakes and deserts and sweet things, he had more burning questions. "So... what do you like to eat? Snack on?" Because clearly this wasn't it.

"Los Angeles, California." That's where she'd been living before coming here.

Maggie watched Zeke while picking up her fork and lightly tapping it against the edge of her plate. "Okay." Not so sweet sounded good. But she was going to try this. She would. She most definitely would. She cut off a tiny bit of the cake with her fork. Right. This would be a good start.
Only he asked a question so naturally – the polite person that she was – she was going to answer that first. "I don't really snack." Truth. "Like, I only eat during breakfast, lunch and dinner." Which made sense, right? That wasn't THAT unusual was it?

Of course they would have worked something out, because it wasn't as if she never got to see Zhenya...It was just busy schedules. She frowned as her friend carried on talking. "She sounds awful. People can be so rude." Fortunately she didn't really associate with those people.
Teddy nodded at her question. Yep, how fitting was it that he had a LIBRARIAN as his Head of House? Teddy felt his cheeks go a bit pink. He hated talking himself up, because it was not an attractive trait, but... "I'm pretty good at it, yes. It was... well, it was an advanced textbook. I just wanted to learn some more difficult arithmancy." Did she just say Potions? "Oh I like potions too! When I was at home, my dad taught me some muggle chemistry and I really enjoyed that too. Potions is much more fun though." Because it was magic. At least his dad was able to do the spells, because Teddy hadn't wanted to break the law. He didn't even have a wand until just recently, anyway. Wow, it was just so easy to talk to Lux.
"All 12? Well I'm sure you will O them all, Lux." Zhenya nodded. And then smiled at her Hufflepuff friend. "Good luck! If you need any help let me know, although with the tutor and governess I'm sure you probably have it all sorted?" Zhenya would have liked extra tutoring last year, but she had been very happy with her results. It showed that a year of studying hard payed off.
Aww, Zhenya had realised Lux loved Bay, of course, but seeing how pink her friend went when she admitted that made Zhenya understand just HOW much. "Oh well now you get to see him all of the time!" And yes, Zhenya was super happy she got to see Lux as well. Besides her potion course friends, her new work colleagues, and her cousin, Zhenya hardly saw anyone socially. Well, didn't. She lived with Sophia, she had studied with her potion course friends, and obviously she worked with her colleagues. The effort was already there. But she had TIME to put the effort into seeing her old Hogwarts friend.
Zhenya just nodded, "Tell me about it!" At least she wasn't working very close with that woman.

Awww. Teddy was going red. How adorable! She wondered why he was, but then figured that maybe he didn't like boasting about his abilities much. "Oh, that's so cool. I'm not very good at the complicated math," she admitted. "I'm not very good at math." So it was cool that he was. "You create a lot potions? I am very good at it and Professor Culloden has been the best help. He's wonderful, isn't he? He helped me invent a Chocolate Frog potion." At this point she was becoming excited because she loved talking about potions.
Soon she would be going to university, and that made her even more excited. "You really think so? I did really well on my OWLs, but I don't like to brag about it." It wasn't very nice and made her feel awkward and uncomfortable. "And I'll definitely ask you if I need help because I am sure that there is loads that you could assist me with." Zhenya was smart. "I'm really excited about university, but I'm not going to board there, I'll stay at home."
Lux nodded happily. "Yeah, it's great! I just make sure that I keep up with my school stuff, but we still have dates." Honestly they didn't even have to do anything fancy. Making s'mores or having pizza was enough for them. "And it's great that I get to see you guys too! Though of course Teddy has to go back to Hogwarts soon." She smiled at them both. "Do you have to see her often?" Hopefully not.

Keegan skidded into the door and got himself together a moment before entering. He looked around and noticed Brynn sitting by the door. He grinned and headed over. "Hi." he stated simply and took a seat. "You look great!"

Zeke smirked, it was true, he didn’t think he knew… but maybe he did and forgot? It was hard to tell with these things, but he was leaning more toward the former. Of course, the whole L.A. thing should have given it away. The obvious had smacked him in the face and he hadn’t seen it coming. “Right…” yeah, right. L.A. He wouldn’t forget that one now.
Taking another bite, he couldn’t help but find Maggie amusing as she tentatively cut a bit off her cake. If he didn’t know better, he would have thought she was scared of it. The funny thing about that was, cake was far better than toads, and she had kissed those with less hesitation.
What she said next though, had him thoroughly confused. She didn’t snack? …..
But… how did she get from breakfast TO lunch?
“So no surprising you with small meals then?” Because he was a fan of food, so naturally, he thought she would be too. He supposed though, they could do other things.

Before she would put the fork down again, Maggie quickly put the small piece of cake into her mouth. She had said she would eat cake today so eat cake she would. It wouldn't be that bad. She'd PLANNED for it after all. So it was all good. Speaking of good......the cake WAS in fact....well, it was really sweet but still good. She tried keeping it in her mouth for as long as possible, savoring the taste. Only the piece was way too small for the taste to linger.
Setting down the fork for now, however, Maggie reached for her tea and poured some of it into her cup. "Well, I do like surprises." She glanced up at his face briefly, a smirk playing around her lips. Then her eyes were back on the tea to make sure it wouldn't spill. "What were you going to surprise me with? Picnics?" Like that indoor picnic he'd suggested that one time. Hmmmmm????

She was a sixth year after all, and she could have come here with anyone else. But Keegan had just started here last year.
Keegan gave a look around the shop and at all the frill and lace. Definitely not his kind of place but his eyes skimmed to Brynn, and his smile widened more. That was more like it.

No, he wasn’t on trial here, though he supposed that technically he kind of was? But no, "How did I do with the cake?" he clarified, grinning. Of course if she wanted to grade him, then she could go right ahead, he’d just keep eating and hope he didn’t choke on what he might here. But really, the cake, it was on trial.
And there she went clarifying points as well, and he agreed 100%. "We did, and you can’t take it back, just so you know." There were no take-backsies here.
He thought that things were going quite well, as far as dates went, and what he knew of them - THIS was successful… it was a shame about surprise picnics though. "I can live with that," he agreed. Why though? He wasn’t all too sure… but then there was THAT. Vegetarian? He was lifting a forkful of cake to his mouth when he paused, resting his elbow on the table to keep his arm from dropping. "Vegan vegetarian? Or just vegetarian?" This was an important distinction in his mind. But then he was happy to resume his cake eating and tea drinking - helping wash down the sweetness.
"So long as they’re not bad," he nodded. Good surprises were always welcome though, right? That’s generally how it worked.

She couldn't wait to have some tea and something sweet. Jackson had just eaten before they left the apartment so she knew he should make it through her special dinner time.
Finding a table in the corner, she took a seat and got Jackson's coat off of him. Setting him up a bit on her so he could look around the four month old's eyes soon found some of the pretty colors. "We are going to see daddy today." Seeing daddy was very exciting for both of them. She just really hoped nothing kept him too long at the school.

Giving him a quick kiss back as he leaned she breathed in his cologne. "Hello there, having a good day so far?" She always worried with him at Hogwarts. You just never knew what would be going on. She had already heard about the Hag from him and it irritated her that the person to take over her position was such a horrid creature.
