It is a rather bleak day outside, with lots of snow mixed with rain coming down, the sky gray, and the wind blowing harshly across the trees and grass. This was the fourth day of rain - although it was only last night that it became cold enough for snow to join in. Now it was mostly snow, with droplets of water still clinging to the castle.

Luckily, inside Hogwarts is much more hospitable. Alice has taken extra measures to heat up the areas in her charge (especially the classroom and office and waiting areas) with extra torches. Not only is the temperature general warm (at least compared to outside), but the torches give a cozy feeling to the classroom.

Alice was sitting down at one of the desks that you can sit by when you enter the classroom. Not her usual spot, but this was not a usual lesson, either.

"Evening," Alice greets you formally as you walk in. "Sit or stand wherever you like. Practice maintaining good posture while you wait."

Analiese followed the other students back into the classroom. She sat down at the desk she had left her book bag and got comfortable. She contemplated in her opinion on the little field trip down to the spirit room. Quite a... peculiar experience. That would do it. She hoped Professor O'Hara didn't ask questions about their opinions on the party as a lesson wrap-up. She really just wanted to get out of the classroom that very second. That very moment, Professor O'Hara dismissed the class. Thank Merlin. She was famished. And overwhelmingly bored.

Cassidy bit her lip. What did she think of the party? She raised her hand. "I thought it was a lot of fun. Cold, but fun. It was nice to talk to all the ghosts and hear stories about their lives straight from them. Better than reading a book." She wasn't too big on reading books. She was one of those learn hands on kind of people.

And just like that....class was over. She gave the professor a big smile and a little wave and skipped out the door. Back to the tower she went.

Actually...no, he had not noticed but it only fueled his agitation with the whole thing. He had basically spent an entire class period walking and accomplishing nothing. 20 there and 20 plus back. No thanks. It WAS time he would have preferred spending reading his textbook so no, professor, he did not surely agree. Which was why he gave that one Gryffindor girl a bit of a bewildered scowl when she described class as being 'fun'.

To each their own, he supposed.

As for his opinion and what he had learned, well, Eiji felt no obligation to share. Instead he set to packing up his things so he could get his samples back to his dormroom and do something more useful with his time.

Holding his pocket still, ectoplasm was a fragile commodity, Eiji swung his bag over his shoulder and stood when class was dismissed to quickly make his way out of the classroom. Nothing further to add.

Rylee had much minded the long walk back to the classroom. It had given her time to warm up slowly.

Inside the classroom, she returned to her seat to collect her things before the lesson was officially over. "I enjoyed it.. even if I couldn't eat anything and their choice of music doesn't match my own. It was a really nice change of pace to sitting here and reading out of a book." As much as she loved to read switching things up a little was also nice. "It would've been really nice if we had longer to talk to them but the fact that we got to go at all was very nice."

Rising to her feet and slinging her bag over shoulder she was ready to go as they were all dismissed. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor. I really enjoyed it."

Tina had arrived back in the classroom with the group and had just enough time to take a seat in the nearest chair before Professor O'Hara spoke. No, she couldn't say she did notice that it took longer coming back, but it made sense now that the professor explained it. Well, just goes to show you learn something new every day!

She considered the questions asked. She'd been nervous at first, but suprisingly, that party wasn't as bad as she thought it would be! As for what she learned, that was a bit harder. The thing she learned today wasn't the kind of objective fact you'd find in a history book, but it was an important lesson nonetheless. A little kindness could go a long way. People had told her that practically all her life, but she never believed it until she saw the way Myrtle reacted to her at that party.

After some careful thought, Tina raised her hand. "I don't really like parties, but I enjoyed that a lot more than I thought I would," she said. Sorry, Professor! Nothing against O'Hara or any of the ghosts; it was just that social situations, especially ones involving large groups, set her teeth on edge! "It was nice to speak to the ghosts, and... I don't know if this is the sort of answer you're looking for, but I learned that the ghosts will respect you as long as you respect them."

Was that a cop-out answer? Probably so, but she supposed it didn't matter. Class was over anyway. With a polite nod toward the professor, Tina slung her bag over her shoulder and headed toward the door.

Yes she noticed they took longer returning to the classroom. Gave her more time to ponder on the purpose - or lack thereof - of today's lesson. Not to mention, what Professor O'Hara mentioned too about that temperature thing. That was a good thing too.

Uhhh.... what?

"Ghosts have a rather lame afterlife. They can't eat anything decent. They don't play games either." Yup. That's what she learned and gathered from today's excursion.

Indigo didn't particularly feel like answering this question. He had just spent time at a party, which was not his thing. Too many people - well, ghosts. He needed time to recharge before any more social interactions happened. But he did have some thoughts about ghosts, actually, so he decided he would answer, at least briefly. "The party was fine. I think being a ghost would be boring. You've already lived a whole life and then you just live more. I think you'd run out of things to do. Plus there's so many things they can't do because they're incorporeal. I think it would be boring." Indigo definitely would not want to be a ghost, no thank you.

Nina Castillo was incredibly unimpressed. Everything about this lesson reeked of poor planning and very little thought. Had O'Hara thought about the types of ghosts they had roaming this castle she would obviously realize that none of them would be of any use to properly aid them in learning. The only ghost with any of his wits about him was the Bloody Baron, and he hadn't even shown up to the party. Perhaps because he had his wits about him.

While Nina had very strong opinions on the lesson, she chose to stay quiet instead of sharing them. She couldn't have disagreed with their Professor any more. This lesson was an absolute waste of time. Nina Castillo gained absolutely nothing from standing in a room full of whiny, childish ghosts. She would have much rather preferred to sit with a textbook and teach herself. History was one of the most important subjects and it was incredibly important to be well versed in it, but the more lessons Nina attended, the more and more she was starting to loathe her favorite subject. How was she meant to look forward to the subject matter, if the delivery of the material was done in such an off putting matter?

She gave their Professor a very pointed look when the woman mentioned that this wouldn't be the last of theses hands-on-lessons. If this were really the case, Nina would have to reconsider keeping this course within her schedule. She didn't have time to waste on such trivial matters.
