Post Wizarding World, Harry Potter events, activities, attractions affected by coronavirus

This is quite a unique situation, and we're not going to sugarcoat it.

Pandemics are rare, but they happen. And they affect everyone and everything around us. This includes businesses, lifestyles, health, the stock market, ways of life - everything. We simply ask all Wizarding World fans who frequent SnitchSeeker - and every one else worldwide - to keep as safe as possible, and without being too tongue-in-check: Constant Vigilance.

This post will be the one-stop hub for all news related to the current crisis of the coronavirus and its effects globally.

As SnitchSeeker is a Wizarding World and Harry Potter-focused website, we'll mention all events, gatherings, and related items that have been affected by the pandemic. For those who want more information beyond the Wizarding World, please visit CDC's website.

The list below is not in order of significance or dire situations, and we are taking none of them lightly. We will make new posts, linked back to this, when these operations are open again.

UPDATE 1: The Australia production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is now suspended through April. Details below.

UPDATE 2: The House of Minalima store/museum in London is now closed for the foreseeable future.

UPDATE 3: All productions of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child are suspended for the foreseeable future (unless stated otherwise), including the original show in London's West End.

UPDATE 4: the New York production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is suspended all summer, at least through September 6.

  • Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, and Universal Studios Japan either are, or will be temporary shut down for the foreseeable future (unless specified below). The three theme parks house the Wizarding World of Harry Potter attractions.
  • They have all promised to refund tickets to those who purchased in advance.

  • Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter outside of London, England, and Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood in Los Angeles, are closed for the foreseeable future (unless specified below).

  • All productions of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child are suspended for the foreseeable future (unless stated otherwise), including the original show in London's West End.

  • Finally - and hopefully this will be all - the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite mobile app game has postponed its Community Day (set for March 22) to a future undetermined time. In the meantime, gamers will get extra goodies for those especially in social isolation.

The trade newspapers are reporting that Fantastic Beasts 3 will begin production next week. Unless Warner Bros. changes plans on that (which is possible), it is still set on its original schedule and for a November 2021 release. If, however, the schedule changes, we will have a separate report on it.

Again - and we can not stress this enough - please stay safe in these difficult times.
