Video: J.K. Rowling, Deathly Hallows 2 cast & crew say goodbye at London premiere
For those who were unable to watch the live stream of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 world premiere in London this morning, it is currently be rebroadcast via Warner Bros and YouTube. Of the nearly four-hour show, the highlight was undoubtedly at the end, where author J.K. Rowling, stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, producers David Heyman and David Barron, and director David Yates said their heartfelt goodbyes to the series, their characters and each other, and of course, a huge thank you to the fans.
The clip is about 20 minutes long, where the cast, crew, and head of Warner Bros discussed their part in the series. Do note that by the time Emma Watson comes to give her speech, everyone gets quite emotional, and when Rupert began to say his goodbyes and declare his love to Dan and Emma, everyone on stage was in tears. The final person to speak was of course J.K. Rowling, who thanked the fans, cast, and crew from the bottom of her heart, and said, at the end, "Whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home."
I have been checking my news channels all evening to see premiere coverage. Managed to watch the 30min show on Sky 1 at 8:30pm, but what I really should have done is come on here! I've been slacking, last time I logged on was in 2008. :O The site has changed loads, but it's really good. Emotional Premiere, I really wish I had gone to London today!!
Ok with Dan I was beyond touched, Emma...emotional, by the time Rupert spoke and even he was getting emotional...I'm finished, my heart is just aching. JK Rowling was beyond beautiful as always with her words ( and the trio standing so closely together in the back...*sobbing*).
I feel so silly sometimes for getting emotional about this last film as I technically didn't grow up with this series as some have ( I was 15 the first time I read Sorcerers Stone) but omg...I am having so many feelings right now of sadness and excitement.
I so want JKR to be serious about writing another book right now! Alas... that's not to happen, I'm just thankful we will always have the books and movies whenever we feel the need to come home to Hogwarts.
While I was watching this live, I was inconsolable.
David Heyman got me tearing up right off the bat. Dan's speech was nice, and very much him...not too emotional and using awkward humor. I was so fond of him in that moment. Then I was pretty much sobbing when Emma, that beautiful girl, started. First off, what she said about Dan was truly wonderful. And to have her go down the line, I couldn't control my sobs. She's so wonderful, and I'm so happy she's gotten this chance in her life.
But once Rupert lost it, I was completely gone. My tears were thick and big and constant. The sobs coming out of me where literally gut-wrenching; they came from somewhere deep, deep inside. (If I hadn't been at home alone watching it, it would have been embarrassing.) But to see Rupert Grint so emotional, in actual tears -- someone who hasn't shown such intense emotion in public that way in ten years, just really, really, really moved and touched me. You can see what those three mean to each other, what this has meant to them. (The way Emma basically pulled him in for a hug was the most adorable thing ever.)
And then Jo came. She will always be my hero. Whether you come back by page or by cinema, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you back home.
You are perfect. Thank you, Joanne Kathleen Rowling. I will always love you.
These are all such wonderful people. God, I'll miss them all.
It was great to be able to watch the premiere live, and these speeches were a really emotional ending. The tears will probably wait until I see Part 2, but I almost caved during Jo's speech. I love what she said about Hogwarts always being there -- so beautiful and so true.

gosh.... that was quite a tearjerker.
and Dan may be right that he got really lucky when he was 11-- but he forgets that the franchise was lucky to have him too all these years, in fact it almost never happened.
i dont think there was a dry eye in that place-- specially not after Emma's speech
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
Okay so.
Emma crying BROKE MY HEART. This honestly has been the saddest premiere yet, I remember watching the half blood prince preimere going, hey theres so much time left its not gonna end so fast, but you know what...time flew by. There arent any words to describe my love for the "super 7" and J.k ,...i <3 all of them, and Harry Potter is the biggest thing in my life.
*HOGWARTS IS MY HOME*

I started crying when David Yates went up there and every speech just made them roll down harder! Emma had my bawling! Then Rupert goes and talks about gingers and made me laugh it was a weird feeling... Laughing and crying... Then JK and oh I just about died this was great and I agree with Dan. This. Is. Not. The. End.

wow that was one of the most emotional and heartfelt clips i have ever seen. everyone was so genuine and thoughtful. these stories will never die because i know we will all continue to read the books and watch the movies. Jo's ending line said it all.
Once I started watching this.... I immediately cried. It's so sad to see that Potter is coming to an end. Everyone's kind words are just AMAZING! I love Jo for this. HP is just my life! <3

That was really emotional but as Jo and Dan have said it will always live in our hearts no matter what, there will always be that place in your heart where Harry Potter lives and nobody can do anything about it because it will always be there,we've grown with it and it will grow with us.
It really got me when JK Rowling said;
'hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home' awwwwwwwwww:-(
I refuse to say goodbye to Harry Potter, because it isn't the end!
