Post Video: Deathly Hallows: Part I deleted scene with Ron & Hermione throwing rocks

Warner Bros released a third deleted scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, where Ron and Hermione take a break from their grueling search for Horcruxes and have a bit of time alone to skip some rocks together. That intimate scene can be seen here; screencaps can be found in our galleries.

Also, the official Harry Potter UK Facebook released their Friday questions from the actors to the fans, where Matthew Lewis asks everyone what their favourite Hogwarts class would be (since Neville's is Herbology).

The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I Blu-ray and DVD sets, out on April 11, 2011 in the U.K. and April 15, 2011 in the U.S., can be pre-ordered on the WB Shop or Amazon at the links below. A list of international dates for the DVD's release can be found here.

Adorable scene, and brilliantly executed by Rupert and Emma; you can tell that they channeled their own easy friendship to make this so natural and believable...and then they added their little looks.

While I agree it would have been out of place before Ron left, I wish they had put this in before they retrieved the locket. (Hard to do since they aren't out in the wilderness beforehand, but...) Ron starts off pretty optimistic and supportive; it isn't until they retrieve the locket that he starts freaking out. They could have even managed to sneak it in after Ron returns, now that the locket is destroyed, and Ron's determined to be optimistic for them. Either way, I wish they had kept it in. Both Emma and Rupert are great in the scene.

But I think this would have been a better addition than the dance sequence. Unlike the dance scene, this didn't seem awkward or forced; it seemed very real. Dan and Emma played that dance scene well, particularly Emma as she pulled away, clearly devastated that Ron was still gone, but I have never warmed to that scene. Had they done something else to demonstrate the friendship of Harry and Hermione, to bring a little light in so much dark, I think I would have loved it:

This could have included a nice hug moment, an awkward but adorable Harry joke, or even if they started singing an old children's song of Muggles or even the Hogwarts's song. They could have easily lightened the mood, shared that what-if?-no,-we're-just-friends;-I'm-in-love-with-Ginny-and-I'm-in-love-with-Ron-and-Ron-is-still-gone-and-we're-still-sad-and-alone moment without having to adjust so much. But the dancing was just so unnatural to me for the characters so...eh.

Adorable scene. Wish they would have kept it. I love those two.

Aww, this is so adorable

But really, I can see why they didn't put it in the movie. I'm not really sure where this could've gone without feeling really random and out-of-place. And though I like this clip just a tad more than the dance scene just because this is R/Hr, I'm still totally cool with them keeping the dance and cutting this scene. The dance scene fit more with the overall tone and feel of the movie, imo, where this doesn't really, as cute as it is.

That was such a cute scene! Was it just me, or did it seem like Hermione was being bad on purpose at first? Just to make Ron touch her again...awww!

I have to disagree with most people here. To me, the dancing scene seems to be a lot LESS out of place than this one. You could see that the point there was to show the strong bond which Harry and Hermione share with each other.

However, if I didn't know that this scene was supposed to be part of the movie, than I'd say they're just fooling around on set. I still think it's a great scene, I'm just saying that they made the right decision when they cut it out. It wouldn't have made much sense to leave it in, because of Ron's emotional state. He was very uptight and grumpy at this point in the movie because of the horcrux.

Now this is just my opinion. And let me just say again: this is a great scene, and it could have worked, if it happened at a different time.

this scene is soo sweet! i liked it! they all had their moments, ron/hermione and harry/hermione and i think they are all cute how they each have a special bond in this movie. It is really adorable :], they each take for granted their friendship and what they do with it

Cute. And of course Hermione would pretend to be worse than she was to get Ron to cozy
next to her. She is the brightest witch of her age after all. I can see where this didn't have good fit in the flow of the actual movie. That said I am glad it made the cut for deleted scenes. There are many, many things filmed that are not added to the DVDs.

This scene is every R/Hr shipper's dream come true- they acted very natural (thanks to R/E awesome chemistry) and did an awesome job of improvising...it was just a sweet and tender moment-have to say OHH Hermione you sly devil- "If I throw badly, Ron will touch me hehe" As for the H/Hr dance scene-was completely unecessary have to say. The only good thing about that scene was Dan's goofy dancing (bless him ) and Emma's face as Hermione saying "I am in love...w/ Ron" and leaves This rock throwing scene should have been kept, dont care if it didnt fit-the H/Hr dance didnt fit either and they still did that scene. I cant freakin wait for every R/Hr moment we will get.

thats cute! i really liked the piano scene, that did make it in the movie...
i think the problem with this one is that emma is actually very good at this rock throwing thing and is only seeming not to know...

its time to choose between what is right and what is easy

aww this is so cute! love this.. i actually lol when hermione first threw the rock.. just chucked it stright down in the water..so funny then she keeps doing it. love it

say what you will i still like the harry and hermione dance but i would have loved to seen more hermione and ron in the movie for sure..but this movie is about friendship as well which is why i liked the dance scene

ill always stand by what Jo had once said in an interview that she could see how people would see harry and hermione having something more than a friendship but alas no more than brother and sister relationship.. so it doesnt bother me they do it a little bit on film we all know how it ends up!

Good decision they deleted this part.. This scene is "exclusive"..

Nice Ron and Hermione scene but I do agree that it doesn't seem to fit anywhere..

Glad they cut the scene. It is very Rupert and Emma and not Ron and Hermione. Especially Emma's performance.
