Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, U.K. adult edition

The UK covers (both kid and adult edition) can be seen at Bloomsbury.com. They include the blurb and the jacket sleeves. Further to that, Bloomsbury have also announced that the book will be 608 pages long.

The blurbs read;
Quote:

Harry is waiting in Privet Drive. The Order of the Phoenix is coming to escort him safely away without Voldemort and his supporters knowing - if they can. But what will Harry do then? How can he fulfil the momentous and seemingly impossible task that Professor Dumbledore has left him?
Quote:

Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety, and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him...
Arthur Levine, the US editor, revealed the US cover art on the Today show. Watch the unveiling here.
Quote:

"We're seeing Harry in a very interesting situation. Readers will find out exactly what the situation is," said Levine, who admitted he cried as he read the book.
When asked about the possibility of Harry dying;

Quote:

Levine held his ground, saying only, "We do know that someone's going to die."
Quote:

"When I was reading it, I had both the excitement and the power of the book, and the plot, driving me forward. But I was also feeling a little sad. It's the last time."

When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading the book, Vieira made a valiant-but-failed final effort to get Levine to disclose whether Harry Potter is finally done in by Lord Voldemort.

"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?" Vieira prodded.

"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," Levine said.

Well the last one was bound to be emotional, and specially for all of us avid fans who have loved Harry Potter over the years, the last one would've been emotional knowing that this is the last one.

I would like to know that too,........as to who it is.

And I liked the Bloomsbury covers, specially the adult one. Think I wanna get that :)

carola9146 03-28-2007 02:43 PM

I'm soo excited! I think DH will be the best and I'm bound to be sobbing my way through it as well. After all it is soo very bitter sweet - we'll get the answer's to our questions but at the cost of this book being the last in the series!

I really like all of the covers - I think the UK one is the most interesting. I wonder how they will relate to the final story.

The US version looks like Harry is in a Colosseum type place. It looks like Voldemort and Harry are both reaching up for something, too. And their is a curtain on either side of the picture and broken wood in the fore ground. I can't tell if the shadows in the background near the arches are people's heads or grave stones. Could they be at the graveyard in Godric's Hollow?

The Adult version is obviously Salazar Slythern's Locket.

The UK version looks like the trio falling through a tunnel into a treasure room. The tri looks pretty banged up - either from the fall or a previous fight. Ron seems to be holding Godric Gryffindor's sword. Hogwarts is on the back cover. The inside front cover has Harry's patronus and the inside back cover has a sperent in a globe...Nagini maybe?

From the description on the book jacket we learn that the Order will be escourting Harry from Privett Drive to the Weasley's I'm assuming for Bill & Fluer's wedding.

I'm really excited! only 114 days to go!!!!

Taytertots101 03-28-2007 02:45 PM

wow the covers say alot it looks like the veil (with lots of money) :) in the english version and a big stadium or fgrounds area in the US one then something of slytherins in the UK adult...hmmmm.....
WOOHOOOO!!!!

Ghidighici 03-28-2007 02:49 PM

Ohhh !... That interview really made me upset...:( Will Harry really die ?!

P.S. I simply loved both covers. ;) :D

Ozzy 03-28-2007 02:49 PM

Oh gosh. I don't do "emotional" well, my mum already thinks I'm crazy with how much I sobbed with what happened in OoTP and HBP... LOL. o_o Shoulda anticipated it was going to be emotional though... *still in denial that this is it* =/

We might have to start a DH crybaby support thread... LOL!

Covers are ace! All of them, even! W00T!

EmmaRiddle 03-28-2007 02:51 PM

Ron seems to be holding Godric Gryffindor's sword.
No he's not; looks like there's a house elf clinging onto Harry who has it.

Black Rose Tragedy 03-28-2007 02:51 PM

:faint: wants the book really badly

Singularity 03-28-2007 02:56 PM

I wonder what that is around Harry's neck...

Embem 03-28-2007 03:00 PM

My anger has still not subsided since seeing the UK cover over an hour ago. I am sooo buying the adult edition.

Yes ! I see it too, now ! A sort of creature holds Harry by his shoulder ! Could this be Kreacher ?! Or Dobby helping Harry ?! I can't wait until July !!!:cry::cry:

Nabs 03-28-2007 03:06 PM

I'm ordering both UK adult and children's version. Again. LOL.

And come on..Just GIVE us the book already! I need to know who dies *dies* Is it Ron? If it is, I'm gonna get soooo angry.

*is too excited to make any sense*

EDIT: And it's going to be Orange! Woohoo!

Singularity 03-28-2007 03:08 PM

And the article is wrong.. At the end it says the release date is the 12th, but it's the 21st..

padfoot_88 03-28-2007 03:13 PM

How awesome...*grins* I'll be getting the Bloomsbury children's version to complete my collection! Then I might collect the Adult ones just for fun. LOL

Mrs Felton 03-28-2007 03:16 PM

All of the covers look great. I especially like the UK Adult version. And the blurb is very interesting.. I can't wait!!

Padie 03-28-2007 03:17 PM

Oh dear me! The covers are absolutely expectacular! :D I wonder what's the meaning beyond them... *thinks*

Hollister 03-28-2007 03:18 PM

:faint:AHHH! I can't take it anymore! Give me the book Rowling!!
*cough* Sorry, just yelling at my computer.. anyway,
Great Cover!
But Harry looks really old and what are Ron and Hermione wearing? Is it cloaks? besides that , Great Cover! [again]
:hourglass:

BrightestWitch 03-28-2007 03:25 PM

Great...if a grown man cried that means I'm going to cry. -rolls eyes- I hate crying! But if its for Harry I guess its alright.

I'm really glad to see that Harry looks much older (and cute) on the cover. Finally he aged.

Maybe I'm just stupid, but what does Harry have around his neck? It looks like some sort of locket or something. Is that one of the Horcruxes? (US Cover)

This is so exciting! :woot:!!! I can't wait to finally read it!!! <3

Undead_Sadako_Sasaki 03-28-2007 03:28 PM

The US cover art is different from the usual cover art. I loved both covers. In the UK version, however, did anyone besides myself notice that there seemed to be a house-elf with a sword- that looked like Godric Gryffindor's sword from the second book- in his hand, he was on Harry's back. It looked like Creature, not Dobby because of the hand and the skin wasn't like Dobby's. Then again it might be a new house-elf. I only saw it because I clicked on the large version.

Eclipsed 03-28-2007 03:28 PM

Woah, the covers look amazing!

Simple Muggle 03-28-2007 03:29 PM

argh!
That sounds soooo good!
I cant wait till I read the book myself.

Yes, this'll be the last one.
I'll miss having something to look forward to.
HP. The best.

JulieAnn 03-28-2007 03:29 PM

I absolutly love it! It is wonderful! At first I wasn't sure, but the more I looked at it the more I liked it. It grows on you, kind of like the title :)

Slytherin Fox 03-28-2007 03:37 PM

Wow, I'm telling you, good old J.K. has really given us a run for her money, hasn't she? I still have the very strong feeling that Harry is going to die in this book, I'm sorry to say it, but I just see that coming. I really hate to say it, but my intuition is usually pretty good. I hope I'm wrong, but we will see!

Rockywizardia 03-28-2007 03:57 PM

*screams* It looks so incredibly awesome! Must...have...

Golden Monkey 03-28-2007 03:59 PM

oh my word I'm going to be bawling like a little baby when I get the book in my hand, in front of thousands of people at that! Seriously the covers looks amazingly amazing spectacularily stupendous! I'm oiung to buy the bloomsbury ones defintly, they look much darker than the other ones, though I just may go and buy all of them

Deb_1 03-28-2007 04:29 PM

I really like the us cover and the adult version however im not about the uk version i think i need to get used to it. Im worried now, i dont want Harry to die :( I was sad reading the 6th book because i thought it was 1 away from the end so in the last book im gonna be bawling.

hprwhg4ever 03-28-2007 04:30 PM

LOVE IT.

Very simple yet really cool.

Rebel 03-28-2007 04:36 PM

Woot! I like the cover very much. And I'm really jelous. They already read the book...I want it to

Jojogali 03-28-2007 04:43 PM

The cover is gorgeous.

so much mistery, :x

can't wait to have it in my hands!!

bitsyandtank 03-28-2007 04:43 PM

I like the UK adult one the best.

jmh 03-28-2007 04:48 PM

I don't know why but the US cover looks like it maybe be at the ministry and the same veil Sirius fell through. We'll see, someone saying they sobbed reading it that's no surprise I sobbed at everyone starting with GOF.

Mistress Vondella 03-28-2007 04:48 PM

Gah! The full (US) jacket can mean one of two things:

1) Harry and Voldie fight together for a time (they're not facing each other)

2) JK really wanted Voldie on the cover and made them even though he isn't "against" Harry at that time.

It also looks like there's curtains on either side. Another Veil that got Sirius? The Way out? It's actually a play? Gah. It looks like it's in a Roman Collosiem (sp?)

And we see the Slytherin Locket on the UK Adult version. Hmmmm.

I don't like the children's version this time. Ick.

BrightestWitch 03-28-2007 04:58 PM

On the US cover it looks like Harry is wearing the Slytherin Locket. O_O There is something around his neck...*shrugs*

BrigetteAlisia 03-28-2007 05:05 PM

wow..the UK covers look amazing...but i can't get the US cover to come up on my computer...oh well i guess i will try to get it up on another computer

adubbskthx 03-28-2007 05:20 PM

I'm so excited. I've decided that after book seven comes out I'm going to make it my task to get all 14 UK releases and then dedicate a room of my house to them

The cover art for the adult UK version looks amazing.

OtterySt.Catchpole 03-28-2007 05:22 PM

I can't believe it's almost done ... *sniffles* Rupert ... hold me ... *cries*

I've said this before a million times, the adult book jacket covers from Bloomsbury are the best ... *sighs* but ours are illustrated so there :P   OMFG! It's over already ... NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo *still grieving so deal!!!!!!!!111111*

nicola calvert 03-28-2007 05:32 PM

:faint:OMG!! I really can't wait now, i like the us version, and both the uk versions! And i am so going to cry through most of DH, oh well!:P

Steffi 03-28-2007 05:39 PM

I've been waiting so long and now I'm not sure I want the end to come :-( But i am very excited!!

siriusly_loving_gary 03-28-2007 05:59 PM

Wow, the British one is ... weird .... Though I really like the US version.

Blackened 03-28-2007 06:13 PM

I was so excited when I read this XD

I really like the look of the UK adult version

NightShadows 03-28-2007 06:14 PM

*dies* Omg...just....omg...wow...it's brilliant!!

siriusly_loving_gary 03-28-2007 06:18 PM

Wow. The UK edition is just ... weird. Though I really like the US version.

allucha 03-28-2007 06:28 PM

Whoa, the US cover looks Amazing! I really am liking it, with Harry in a colloseum-type place... But it's kinda interesting as both him and Voldemort aren't facing each other, but something on the far right... I wonder what. Hmm... Maybe they're together, or watching something beyond the norm.

The UK Child cover looks, interesting? It kinda stands out as some kind of anime/manga thing, especially with their hair. I'll still be getting that one, but humm... I just find this one weird. But I've got to admit, I find the snake in a ball thing interesting... Something to do with the Death Eaters, maybe?

Quote:

Bloomsbury have also announced that the book will be 608 pages long.
*Cries* So that's a 176 page difference between UK and US. That's almost the whole of Philosopher's Stone.

I am so tempted to buy the US one now. I mean, how much stuff can they miss out? Unless one has the text printed at a larger font?

Artinco 03-28-2007 06:32 PM

OMG OMG OMGOMGOGMOGMOGMGOGM! im so happy the 7th book is coming out. the only reason to be sad is that i might be the last book. i wonder who dies? as long as its not hermione granger or draco malfoy im fine... hopefully voldomort is the one who dies!

Simple_Spells 03-28-2007 07:13 PM

OH. MY. GOD. *goes into moment of silence*

laurenloo 03-28-2007 07:17 PM

it looks sooooo good.

good_omens 03-28-2007 07:31 PM

This is so weird that this is the last time we are left in suspense. *cries*
He's lucky that he got to read it.

Katieluff 03-28-2007 07:44 PM

The US version is really cool. The UK one is ok too I s'pose. Oooh I hope I don't cry! I haven't cried yet but this one might just do it if he "sobbed and sobbed"

Firebolt7 03-28-2007 07:48 PM

I really like the U.S. version. It's better than the Half Blood Prince cover imo.

EmmaRules 03-28-2007 07:52 PM

I luv the covers, they are sooooooooooooo awsome!:heart2:

Hermionespell 03-28-2007 07:53 PM

Yeah today moring i watched the today show and saw it live:yes: it was such a shock because i had no clue they would be showing it they just did and i really do think i was close to haveing a heart attack:faint: or fainting. I really love the US version its simple but you can still feel the emotion you know what i mean? in the US one it looks like theyre both reaching out for something i wonder what it could be...maybe the last horcrux?! i also love the adult UK version i really like that theyre actual photos and the locket looks really pretty! is that supposed to be Harry, Ron and Hermione on the kids version? i wonder whats with all the gewls and jewelry:hmm: overall i think these are my faveorite cover out of all the HP books though i really liked thhe sixth one;) and i love the shade of orange they made the US version thats a first and its really beutiful!!! cant wait till the books ACTUALLY come out! i am definately buying all the versions including the Deluxe Edition;)

harrypotterbabe 03-28-2007 08:08 PM

oh my gosh, i cannot belive it, the cover looks awesome. only 106 days until we can actually see the book!!

itsjustjesse 03-28-2007 08:09 PM

I saw the US one on the today show this morning. And all I could think was, either its happening in Hogwarts itself, the Ruins of Gordric's Hollows, or it could be the ministry...who knows it might happen somewhere we all know, and trust, the final fight that is.

harrypotterbabe 03-28-2007 08:09 PM

i looked over the covers like 10 times just to get every little bit out of them

Yeah my mom told me, I was getting ready for school about to eat breakfast and just ran in mouth dropping like HARRY POTTER SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! And Yeah, I personally like the British cover, of the locket more than the one for the American Cover, but they are all brilliant.

Yeah i think it might be at godrics hallow, it might even be at harry's mum and dads old house. But then again, it could also be the ministry. But im leaning more towards the godrics hallow thing. Unless we're totally wrong

yeah the locket looks at lot better and more, eerie in a way. But i like it because i know the reason for it hehehe. but the other two are good though. They really make you think hard. :)

Symbi0sis 03-28-2007 08:24 PM

OMG! I normally buy the Bloomsbury children's version but it just died. That cover is so awful. At least the story is what we all want not the cover.

Sama 03-28-2007 08:26 PM

That's totally a house elf holding that sword and they must be in Gringotts.... OMG I can't wait!!!

harrypotterbabe 03-28-2007 08:28 PM

Totally going to cry.

Love it!

luv16 03-28-2007 08:42 PM

Ooooh I liked the adult's edition best!
The US kids edition is sort of... yellowish, and I didn't really like that, and the UK version is sort of odd... I mean they're all cover in what seems like gold and jewlery and they looked as though they had just exploded off somewhere.
What I really liked about the US book cover is the dark figure on the back (I'm guessing it's Voldie), he looks really cool! ^_^

Yay! More DH news! :D

argentinaz_angel 03-28-2007 08:46 PM

oohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i will not cry when i read this, i will dry my eyes out ^_^

lorlor57 03-28-2007 08:47 PM

Omg! They look incredible!! I so cannot wait, i love the U.S. edition, it wasn't how i expected it at all, but it still looks amazing

YumPie 03-28-2007 09:02 PM

Aww, man. This is fantastic seeing the new covers (what is up with the UK kids ed.? I think I'm buying the Adult ed. this time 'round ), and the blurbs and I'm getting more and more excited by the minute; but my god is it an almighty tug on the heart-strings. It's so close. The end. No more theories, no more midnight parties outside bookshops (apart from when DH is released obviously).

Finally knowing everything, an end; but after that, no more *sigh*

I think I might have to start buying in the Kleenex now so I've got enough in time for July

harrypotterbabe 03-28-2007 09:06 PM

i cannot wait until the book comes out now. I think the UK ones look the best but i guess they all look ok. The US one kind of looks a bit boring :(

MizFit_of_Society 03-28-2007 09:12 PM

Ooh, I love the U.S one...

JOpotter 03-28-2007 10:38 PM

:woot: Awesome!! I kind of like the UK version better, but the I love the illustration of Harry on the US cover.
The covers aren't actually what I expected... I expected something more flashy and colorful or more gloomy.
I don't know. I would like to know Marie Grand Pre's (sp?) inspiration for the cover. :hmm:

haha! hrmy_lvr_4evr spelled out my reaction exactly!

HARRY LOVER#1 =) 03-28-2007 10:40 PM

There's no difference between the two except the cover art. The cover art for the adult version is more mature.

O.WoodChicGH 03-29-2007 02:08 AM

In the U.S. Version doesn't it look like Harry is wearing a locket around his neck. It's not well defined but I think it might be Slytherin's locket.

Sorry if someone has already pointed this out.

Ellenorethefair 03-29-2007 02:12 AM

No offense, but the British kids edition is...well...kinda funny? But what is that locket? Is this the same one everyone is talking about?

O.WoodChicGH 03-29-2007 02:23 AM

On the childrens version. There is obviously a house elf on Harry's back holding what we are assuming to be the sword of Godric Gryffindor.

Theory here:

We all know that Dobby will protect Harry at any cost pretty much and I was wondering what in the world is a house elf doing in the assumed final battle. Well I was thinking that he went to save the trio and the sword was actually a port key which transported them to somewhere unknown giving them the look of falling or lunging in mid air and to safety after Voldemort is defeated and the Deatheaters attack more vehemently for their slain master.

I don't know just my thoughts trying to figure out any way to see that Harry doesn't die. (I'm reading way to much into these covers aren't I?)

pardon me if this has already been stated before....
-for one if you look close enough there happens to be a locket or necklace around harry's neck
- Second of all this just is a theory of mine... could the room that they are in be the room in the DoM where the veil is located? There seems to be curtains at the bottom corners of the page? However it does seem to be located outside which defeats that threory

Whatever the matter is..i think that it is a very smart cover..very interesting especially the color and the scene depicted

well i love the covers thank goodness...they actually give me hope its a lighter colored cover considering how drak and excuse me depressing the other covers are which seem to foreshadow the book i am holding out for home and it looks like voldy is shrinking back in the picture...maybe? i hope so

as for characters who could die i think it could be many others besides harry since we like all the characters right?

I personally am telling myself that harry is going to die to prepare myself
if he does die i will know it (and still throw the book across the room) if not i will jump up and down scream and cry tears of happiness

The covers are great! I just love them!
However, I'm not that happy right now. I feel like I shouldn't read the book, but I should. (you know what that means, right?)
If the "somebody" does die, it's going to be like everything's over. Even when it isn't. I'm really depressed about that.
I hope everything will be okay, and everybody will feel okay, when everybody reads the final of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

God I cant wait for this book any longer. Is it me or doest the US version make it look like Voldemort and Harry seem to be working with each other? Or they could be summoning something. I don't really get the childrens UK version, if this is suppose to be an emotional book, why does it look so comedic?
