| | Too many Potter fans, too few books in India
HARRY Potter today left his fans in the city dissappointed. The number of books available in the city today were far less than the number of Potter fans.
Dinesh Sharma of Book Cafe, a book store on Mall Road, says that the store had asked the publishers for 50 books, but received only 16 of them. or fifty books and they received just sixteen books. True, the city did not witness the kind of Pottermania that hit other metros, J K Rowling’s sixth book titled ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’ definitely had a large number of enquiries. And soon, all the 16 books were sold out too, leaving other fans waiting to read the adventures of the boy-wizard.
Book Cafe had called for advance booking for the book begining on July 1, and the booking closed on July 14. Among the lucky fans who bought the book was 11-year-old Karan Dhall, who was busy leafing through his book at Book Cafe. ‘‘I am fond of reading books as such, but the duels Harry has with Voldemort fascinate me the most. And while my mother inculcated the love of reading in me, I introduced her to Harry Potter,’’ he smiles. Karan tells you with pride that he has all the Potter books.
Another Harry Potter fan is 18-year-old US citizen Videya, currently holidaying in the city. ‘‘The sale of this book began at midnight in the US and my friends must have picked their copies even before me. Harry Potter is just too good,’’ she gushes.
It certainly is party time for Potter at Book Cafe, and in walk Megha Gupta, Kimal Kapoor and Jaspreet Kaur. These Sacred Heartians are miffed that they did not know about the advance booking.
The book is priced at Rs 895, so the trio has decided to pool money to buy it

lol, and that it terrible. I know I would face such a great disappointment if that had been me, in India. Why didn't the publishers give them the exact amout or more requested? That is one thing I do not get.

Wow, to think I was going to be in India when the book released, but our plans changed suddenly. I think I would have cried if they ran out. At our borders at the midnight party they lost half the books for a while, but in the end they found them. The worst 15 minutes of my life.

Aaw that's so sad
I went to a shop that opened at 10.00 am (they didn't do the midnight thing here in Belgium except for three stores no where near me), I got there at ten minutes past? There were no people waiting in line or anything, yet the book was already sold out I got it in another town, but I found that just so odd and didn't believe it quite frankly, there wasn't even an empty table where the books would have been put on!

Thats horrible! I would die if I had to wait that long...I got mine exactly 9:01 (same time as 12 over there) as I had not slept and waited since 7.30 the earlier night. Although I didn't start reading it till ages later as I fell asleep in the shopping center lol

I'm in India, and most of my friends pre-ordered the book so they didn't have any trouble. But I'm sure the book stores will be receiving more copies...coz I can still find copies of the previous five books in almost in every book store.

I'm glad I don't live in India.
I preordered so I knew I'd get one, but I'd have to wait, (got it today).
I think people don't preorder so they can go to the parties.
