Post Tom Felton talks staying in touch with Potter castmates and more

Tom Felton recently did a promo tour in the UK for his TNT series Murder in the First, which began airing there Jan. 16. During his interviews with Radio Times, he discussed his current relationship with his Harry Potter castmates, American accents, and roles he's turned down.

Quote:
Are you still in touch with the other Potter actors?
I see Rupert [Grint, who played Ron Weasley] in New York. We had a nice little reunion dinner with Dan [Radcliffe Harry Potter] as well. We all stay in touch. Its odd when we see each other now. Last time we had beards and shaggy haircuts. The years are showing!

What was it like putting on the American accent?
Ive done it a couple of times and it used to be a conscious effort. Its kind of progressed, having lived here for so long, and its just natural now. My family do take the mickey.

What was the last thing you turned down?
Panto. They wanted me to be some evil genie or something. That and Im a Celebrity, and Ive had requests to do Dancing on Ice. It would take an eight-figure sum to get me to do that. No, thats my ego talking. Its kind of putting your neck on the line, and Im not brave enough.
During his interview with the Sunday Express, the actor answered myriad questions about his life, revealing his nickname and describing his first kiss, among other things.

Quote:
My nickname is Feltz or F-Beats. The former is self-explanatory and the latter goes back to my early hip-hop-loving days, when I was 12 years old and thought I was going to be the next Eminem.

My first kiss was on a bouncy castle when I was 11. I claimed I was doing some sort of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation when actually it was just a ploy but it worked and it was the start of a three-week relationship.

The best thing my parents taught me was manners. My mum instilled good manners in me early on minding your Ps and Qs, opening doors for ladies and that sort of stuff and its something thats stuck with me. Its a quintessential British trait and it shouldnt be watered down, although my missus may tell you Im not as good with it as I think I am.

Not a lot of people know this but Im very good at yo-yoing and diabolo you know, that thing with two sticks and a piece of string. Im pretty handy at both of those.

My best friend is my girlfriend Jade. Having someone who truly understands you, where you dont have to sugar-coat things and where most conversations can be held with just a look, is rare.

My nickname is Feltz or F-Beats. The former is self-explanatory and the latter goes back to my early hip-hop-loving days, when I was 12 years old and thought I was going to be the next Eminem.

The bravest thing Ive ever done is a bungee jump, but Im glad I did it was exciting and very liberating.

My favourite TV show is Breaking Bad, or it was until everyone else started to like it. Recently, Ive been really enjoying Peaky Blinders. Im in love with that whole era and the soundtrack is awesome too I have those songs on repeat in my car.

My perfect evening is a nice dinner, glass of wine and a film. Jade and I travel quite a lot and were not used to having our own kitchen, so its usually a case of scouring online delivery menus.

Id like to say sorry to my mum for not answering the phone yesterday, but Im going to call her back.

My first kiss was on a bouncy castle when I was 11. I claimed I was doing some sort of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation when actually it was just a ploy but it worked and it was the start of a three-week relationship.

My biggest regret is not answering the phone to my mum yesterday, but Im the worst multitasker ever and I was driving at the time.

The last time I cried was when we lost our dog Timber a few months ago. She was only seven and I had a proper wail about that. She was chasing rabbits one minute with a clean bill of health, then she was diagnosed with cancer. It was a rapid descent and were very sad to lose her, but she had a great life.

The first record I ever bought was Green Days Dookie album, although I cant remember if I bought it or stole it from my brother. Its not good for my image but ...

I like wearing pyjamas outdoors. Ive got these pyjama bottoms that I love. Theyre red and chequered, which means I get some funny looks if I pop to the shops in them, but theyre so comfortable.

My greatest weakness is ice cream or crpes. I also have a terrible tendency when Im in New York to frequent those hot-dog stands. Leave me there for half an hour and I could easily eat 10 of them.

If I could pass any law I would exempt myself from parking fines. I dont know if its because the signs are too complicated or I just have a horrendous inability to understand parking laws, but I have a terrible habit of picking up tickets.

I drive a Mercedes CLA, which I adore. Im obsessed with the gadgets inside. Its got all the modern tech and it feeds my desire to be a bit of a boy because it sounds like a tiger is growling underneath the bonnet.

The shop I cant walk past is anywhere they sell musical instruments, the more rare and exotic the better. I end up going in for an hour and learning how to play some sort of Tibetan kazoo. If I had my way, Id fill the house with such things, but Ive been banned from doing that.

The most expensive thing Ive ever splashed out on is a Ford Focus for my mum six years ago. Shes still driving it, bless her heart.

My perfect Sunday is a roast dinner at my mums, which Im sure most sons would say. Its my ultimate comfort food.

My favourite place in Britain is the village of Ockley in Surrey. Its got three pubs, a butchers shop and a cricket pitch so thats all the essentials covered.

My last holiday was when we spent a few days last January in Big Sur on the California coast. Its this beautiful spot with a fantastic forest, but its also right on the ocean and its pretty spectacular.

Im currently reading a lot of scripts, which is good, and the odd magazine. And I recently read The Dude and the Zen Master by Jeff Bridges, which is brilliantly written and very witty.

The best day of my life was buying my dog Timber. My mum stressed to me that getting a dog was a bigger responsibility than I was capable of taking on, but with hindsight it proved I was able to make that commitment.

If I had half an hour left on Earth Id get everyone down the local pub if that was possible, sneak a quick pint in, have a game of darts and a little singsong then call it a day.

Below is a rather amusing image of Tom from the New Orleans Wizard Con.
