This is GREAT.

Double_Trouble 08-27-2007 12:24 AM

Thats cool. Some people in my church think like that...

jkrsong96 08-27-2007 01:40 AM

I'm a Christian, I love reading the Harry Potter books! Yes, witchcraft and all of those are included, but it's fiction, and it's made for us readers. Nothing really serious about it.

griffin_girl 08-27-2007 01:49 AM

yeah well in my old school back home [yes, it was a catholic school] we had a school mass, and this priest used PoA and the Patronus thing to teach us about how Jesus can be the Patronus that'll protect you...

So I never really thought that HP was a jinx or evil witchcraft and neither does that priest...*shrugs*

Pigwidgeon Took 08-27-2007 01:54 AM

Wonderfully said, now maybe people will stop calling it evil?

DeathEaterJ 08-27-2007 02:26 AM

that is awesome... I might just lead a children's/youth sunday school just to teach that... too cool...

dragon 08-27-2007 03:28 AM

lavoni 08-27-2007 06:56 AM

I'm also a Christian and very much obsessed with HP..My obsession with HP doesn't affect my spiritual life.Actually, it gave me an inspiration to be courageful enough to face problems and to do well at school..

chewie 08-27-2007 11:44 AM

Wow, that'd be cool and definitely well said.

Mrs Felton 08-27-2007 12:36 PM

"To say ... these books draw younger readers towards the occult seems to me both to malign J. K. Rowling and to vastly underestimate the ability of children and young people to separate the real from the imaginary."
That is extrodinarily well said. I especially like the comment about C.S. Lewis. Just yesterday I was reading one of the books, Prince Caspian, and Dr. Cornelius uses 'a small bit of magic' to find them. Sure- it's not as big a factor in this story as it is in Harry Potter. But like Smith said- we know we can't do magic. But we all have an imagination, and sometimes its fun to just pretend.

sounds interseting
