| | | Stephen Fry attacks Sci Fi writers Stephen Fry, the voice of the UK Potter Audio Books, has labelled Sci Fi writers as 'unappealing' saying that they take themselves too seriously.
"I wouldn't want to mention names but I do think science-fiction writers take themselves far too seriously. I always picture them as the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons: you know the one, fat and unappealing."

Oookay... This makes Stephen Fry a little less intelligent to me. I have been a long time fan of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Both are very much alike when it comes to good imagination, so to me his opinion seems insulting to fantasy as well. As for Sci-Fi writers taking themselves seriously... Gene Roddenberry was a very enlightened and happy guy.
And as for the Comic Book Guy... he just rules! (and he's a FICTIONAL character, not a writer of any kind... bad, BAD stereotyping...)

Stephen only made the point that the Comic Book Guy is a serious character and that is what Sci-Fi writters are like. And they are!!
Sci-Fi stories need to be serious to be able to explain a fantasy that could be logical.
Honestly guys! Take a chill pill! |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Marcella Riddle Graduated | Kaplinski Rival Sorting Hat Machine
He was saying the Comic dude guy takes himself too seriously, and he does. I can't say Sci Fi writers do but obviously Stephen's had a personal experience which made him say this. It's not like he decided to say it out of the blue, unprompted.
