Rowling's lawyers approve new Vander Ark book

In September we told you that J.K. Rowling's lawyers had requested to see Steve Vander Ark's new book, In Search of Harry Potter, about locations used in the novels from around the United Kingdom.

The Times Online is today reporting that, barring a few changes to the cover, her lawyers have approved the work.

The publication also spoke to Vander Ark about his experiences during the trial concerning The Harry Potter Lexicon. He added that he would like to meet Jo to 'say how much he regrets upsetting her'.

As we reported, also in September, RDR Books have filed an appeal in the Lexicon case.

It's great that it got approved so that there won't be any trouble about it. I would much rather that Jo would write her encyclopedia though...

kid dreamer 11-16-2008 03:28 PM

She is. It's just gunna take a while because of the huge amount of information she has. Better wait than have a hacked version released, imo.

RedheadQueen 11-16-2008 03:29 PM

glad Jo gets to approve it first this time!!

I hope the whole SVA vs. JKR will be over soon!

Luna Laufghudd 11-16-2008 04:34 PM

good to hear that this part went well.
I guess they wanted to see the book incase SVA had actually
written anything about Jo. Not sure if she would approve if someone
wrote about HER home and such.

And about him meeting Jo, that would be a very nice and mature thing
for Jo to allow. But seeing as how SVA has acted, who knows.

GinnyPotter7 11-16-2008 05:29 PM

I dont know what to think

Zoe 11-16-2008 06:16 PM

That's good that the book got approved, but I probably won't even bother buying it.

Dragony 11-16-2008 06:56 PM

Yes! I'm think that it is very cool!

bubbles355 11-16-2008 07:22 PM

Mrs.Faith_Weasley 11-16-2008 07:34 PM

It sounds very interesting, can't wait to see how it turns out, and what J.K. plans on writing afterwards

French_December 11-16-2008 09:25 PM

Although what he do was horrible, I kind of feel sorry for him.

Patronus Charm 11-17-2008 02:01 AM

I do feel a tiny bit of pity for him; however, I do doubt I would buy his book....I really dont want to contribute to his retirement.

finfin91 11-17-2008 04:43 AM

I would be interested in reading that book. I wonder how long we'll have to wait.

half_blood_prince 11-17-2008 06:58 AM

thats great i cant wait for it come so i can read all about the different locations.

Emma C.D. Watson 11-17-2008 07:52 AM

:hermy: I don't agree with what he did at all, causing Rowling so much of worry and heartache but I do feel a little sorry for him,I just feel he should not even publish such a thing and do that to her.

HarryThePotter 11-17-2008 12:28 PM

Interesting. ^_^

It's out now.

Ginevra_P 11-17-2008 06:15 PM

I'd say he's really lucky to get his book approved, but I don't think much fans will buy it, I know I won't.

Also, he regrets upsetting Jo, yet they're appealing their case...

Yeah, since Jo wrote the series there could be some stuff we don't know yet in the Encyclopedia
