Pottermore.com's
Magical Quill scavenger hunt has now begun, where fans of the
Harry Potter books are given a question from the first book,
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone, which they must answer to get the quill.pottermore.com/ access code in order to register. A screencap of the question for day one, on July 31, 2011, can be seen here.
For those who do know the answer and have registered, we advise you to put it under a spoiler tag, so as to avoid spoiling other fans: [*spoiler="Pottermore Magic Quill answer 1"]Answer text[*/spoiler] - but without the asterisks *
As for those who have registered, validated their emails and can see the image below, of Privet Drive at night surrounded by a flock of owls, please note that this is not the entrance to the beta site. Also, an alloted number of people will be chosen to gain access to this early site every day; after the number has been filled, registration access for the day will be closed, and fans will have to wait the following day to get a chance to register. Again, this will take place from July 31 to August 6, 2011.
Another email will be sent out to those who have validated their email addresses and have access so far to this early landing page, which will be their WELCOME EMAIL to the beta
Pottermore.com site, where fans can receive their wands and head to Hogwarts.
A big note: the welcome letters can come to fans anytime after the Magical Quill challenge, starting August 7 to September 30, 2011, and the first million to respond to those welcome emails will be the first to test the beta site. If you receive the welcome email after the first million have been chosen, you will have to wait until October 2011, the official opening of Pottermore.com, to gain access. More on that can be read here, as
released to SnitchSeeker by the Pottermore team:

Finally, please note that we will not be enabling early access to the site straight away. Once The Magical Quill challenge is over, we will send successful early access registrants a Welcome email, letting them know when they will be able to access Pottermore. We won’t be able to let everyone into the Beta site at the same time, so please be patient with us. You may have to wait a few weeks for your Welcome email to arrive.
And for those who have already registered, feel free to discuss it in this thread, including what your username is (if you so choose to divulge it). Good luck to all!
UPDATE: Pottermore's official
Insider blog just posted stating that registration for the first day is now CLOSED. The second day of registration will commence sometime August 1, 2011.
Day 1 of The Magical Quill challenge is now closed.
If you didn’t get to register today, don’t worry – you’ll have another chance to find The Magical Quill and register for early access tomorrow. The Magical Quill’s location will change every day.
As there are a limited number of registration places available each day, we expect them to go very quickly. We won’t be announcing the arrival of a new clue on our Twitter account to ensure we don’t give an unfair advantage to Twitter users, but we will let you know, via @Pottermore and the Insider, once the maximum number of registrations for each day has been reached.
We expect a large number of people to try and solve The Magical Quill clues and enter the Pottermore early access registration process. This means that you may have to wait to access the Pottermore site pages. If this happens, please bear with us while we try and direct you to the correct page. If there are any serious access difficulties, we will update this blog with the relevant information.
We will also be varying the time each clue is revealed – as well as the difficulty of the clues – to give as many people as possible a chance to register for early access.
If you did register for early access today, then congratulations! You should receive your validation email shortly. Don't forget to click the link in your validation email within 48 hours; this will secure your early access place.
Please note that we will not be enabling early access to the site straight away. NOTE: You may also insert your Pottermore name into your SnitchSeeker profile, if you would like to, by following
this link and completing the field titled "Pottermore Username".
