Post Potter book 6 a victim of piracy

Reuters reports that less than 12 hours after the release, 'Half-Blood Prince' has appeared online in the form of scans. One of Jo's lawyers said they'd sent out takedown notices but haven't filed any lawsuits.

Quote:
A lawyer for author J.K. Rowling's agents, Christopher Little, said his firm was working to combat the piracy but admitted that some illicit copies would probably slip through.

"We have put in place some countermeasures but I can't disclose the specifics," said Neil Blair. "We have sent takedown notices (against Web sites hosting the illicit copies) but we haven't filed any lawsuits."

The Sweetest Thing Lissy De Vil

That's stealing and it's terrible. I hope those responsible get in a lot of trouble.

Well, it was bound to happen eventually. The best we can do is to not visit those sites

I think cutting the cost of books, now that they're really popular, will help people who can't afford the books. Coz usually they're the ones who go for cheaper piraed versions. But the publishers simply want to make hay when the sun shines

This is horrible but was bound to happen sooner or later. The thing is I do not get exactly why someone would type the book on his/her computer to give out to other people or make scans of every page in the book. Another thing that I don't get is that why would someone want to print out a whole book. If they were to go buy the book it would be actaully less money seing that ink for printers cost around $20 and enouph paper to hold all the contents of the book would cost at least $30.

This would be pointless and a waste of time and money to download this and print it out. Lets say they were not to print it but just to download it and read it on their computer. It still would be a waste. You would not be able to bring the book with you any where. You would also probably get headaches starying at the comptuer trying to read the book.

Well anyways I think JK should file a lawsuit. It would also help the future in the leaking of her books. If they person responsible for this is sued people that think about leaking books in the future even if its not JK's books they will think twice.

it wasn't even a day since it was released, and already being pirated?...that's so unfortunate. i hope those involved would be rightfully punished.
