The Times Online has a new interview with Patrick Doyle in which the composer talks about working on the ' Goblet of Fire' soundtrack. Quote:
“The Scottishness comes through in my music,” says Doyle, 52, who is now based in London. “There’s a musical phrase in Harry Potter before one of the challenges that’s very like a Scottish snap — it’s an octave leap thing."

“I’m particularly proud of my score for Harry Potter because it’s the biggest commercial picture I’ve ever done,” says Doyle. “It’s an enormously high-profile project and the pressure is substantial. I’ve done enough now to be confident I could pull something out of the bag, otherwise I wouldn’t have taken on the job. It’s been hard work but hugely enjoyable and it’s made me a bit of god among my kids.”

wow he has done a lot of soundtracks. but i would've liked it better if john williams continued composing songs for the movies like he did for the past three movies. oh well....i'm pretty sure patrick doyle did awesome on the soundtrack.

Wow. I love this news report thing.. Because it's all about the music.. I wish music had more of an influence in Harry Potter.. Only because I'm a band geek.. LoL
I, too, wish that John Williams would have continued composing the scores for the Harry Potter movies because John Williams is my hero.. Oh and also because he is the most amazing composer to ever walk the earth. LoL
Having said that.. Yay for Patrick Doyle!

its going to be very very strange not having john williams, his composing has been some of the best of his career, but having heard some samples on the trailers i don't think we will be dissapointed by a new composer.

Im really pleased that he feels that satisfied with the score!! I think hes done an amazing job. This time not only has the movie become branched so differently compared to previous ones but the soundtrack has too. Just look at the amount of songs on there with lyrics!!
Change can often be something that can destroy the sucess of a movie or anything in the media. People dont like change. in this case change is the best thing that could ever have happened!

Thanks for that Karen!! Well he is scottish and he got it for services to music writing! all his films not just GOF but it was mentiond after all i think JKR got one last year as she lives here she is an honery scot :-)

yay for patrick doyle! i absolutely LOVE the soundtracks from some of the movies he's done! although i do hope they got permission to use some of john williams's music because it just wouldnt be harry potter without it; like the main theme-- they have to have that. oooh so excited!! 19 days left!
