| | New Dan interview; German Vanity Fair spread (UPDATED)
There’s a great interview with Dan Radcliffe in an article about London from travel magazine Kampioen from the Netherlands. In it Dan mentions what he likes to do in London, including music, museums and football. He also talks a bit about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. UPDATE #1: We now have the full interview below. Quote: What do you like about London?
London is the most fantastic city that I know! As for the rest Newcastle is a good second. I was there for four weeks when we filmed the first two Harry Potter films. I was still really young then, 11 and 12 years old, but I remember Newcastle as a sort of smaller London with the same exciting and vibrant atmosphere. What makes London so unusual? I have the feeling that if you live in London, you're living exactly where all the important things happen. I don't know if that's really true, but there have been many historical things that have happened here. Above all, I've lived my whole life in London and that makes the city special for me as well. Is London extra fun if you're young?
London is wonderful if you're young! I'm crazy about all different kinds of music, and in that respect in London there is everything to experience. There are also an unbelievable number of good music stores. My favorite is Fopp Records, a music chain. They always have what I'm looking for. What's also nice about London: you can really eat anything you have a craving for there. I am not an adventurous eater - my mother wishes it were otherwise – but I love pizzas and tapas and that sort of food. And of course English things like fish and chips, but also Japanese and Indian. You can find everything in London and usually also really close by. Where would suggest other young people go to in London?
The museums, especially if you're young! Most people my age don't like museums, but in London they're wonderful and absolutely not boring! We English are perhaps not so good at football, but we are very good at museums. When I was 10, I went for the first time to the Natural History Museum. We had a premiere or promotion party for the first film, I don't remember exactly any more, but what I can remember very well is that I spent the better part of the time looking at the mammoth dinosaur skeletons in the museum. There were so many, fantastic! Many kids go through a sort of “dinophase” when they're young, but as for me, I think, I never got over it. Where do you like to go on the weekend?
If there is one, a music festival. Like the Reading festival, that is held every year in August just outside London. It is actually one of the most famous music festivals in the world. I'm crazy about football and before I used to go play football on the weekend, but I don't have very much time for that anymore, unfortunately! I sometimes go to watch, there is always a football game on Sunday somewhere in London. Wembley Stadium is being renovated, that's taking centuries, and every month they come up with a new statement that it's almost ready. We English are very good at museums, but not so good at football stadiums.... You have actually also filmed in London, right? What was your favorite location?
Actually we only filmed in London at the London Zoo for the scene from the first book where Harry discovers that he can talk to snakes. That was really cool! The snake that talked to Harry wasn't real, but there other snakes around that were. I was also right next to a crocodile. We have also filmed in Oxford a lot, but that's outside of London. That was great, we were in places that were 1,000 years or older. That is actually also nice about London: there are still lots of old, historical buildings. When went to school there were also lots along the way. You have just finished filming The Order of the Phoenix. Is this film different from the others?
This film is, how can I say this, gloomier, darker, mysteriouser...adult, perhaps. But that's the same as with the books. The new director, David Yates, is really brilliant. In my opinion, because of him, this film is the best so far, and in any event the most surprising. You really must go see it. Do you, as Harry, die in the last film?
I don't know. Really, I don't! J.K. Rowling has certainly hinted that that can happen. Actually Harry dies along with Voldemort, according to the prophecy. Who would you like to take around London?
Emma (Hermione in the films) and Rupert (Ron). We are really good friends. Fortunately, because we see each other a great deal; we film around 11 months per year! We like that. I only wish that Rupert wouldn't always beat me at ping pong! But Emma and Rupert live pretty far from London, so I don't see them here as often as I'd like.

why?? why is rupie always absent from photos??? he is harry's best friend for crying out loud. granted Dan is on the covers bc he is the star and Emma is also on there to have a balance (or to appeal to young male readers... or is it a women's magazine and they want a female on the cover??), but why cant they show the trio??
or better yet, put Alan rickman on a cover or two

That's funny how he said when he was still really young like 11 and 12. He's still really young.

Oh, I think it's sweet that he wants Rupert and Emma to go to London with them. It's godo that they are such good friends that they never get sick of each other even after eleven months together!

Awesome interview! The cover of Vanity Fair's awesome...it would have been better with Rupert in it, though.
