| | Mike Newell: 'School is anarchic'
The Associated Press has a new article detailing fall movies. In it Mike Newell briefly talks about the school aspect of the ' Goblet of Fire' film. Quote:
"Aside from everything else, these are school stories," Newell said. "In a middle-of-the-road English education, the teachers are embattled, the school is a very kind of anarchic place and a very funny place, as well. Where two sets of people — one of which is becoming adults and one of which is trying to avoid going back to becoming children — clash.
"The anarchy of youth, it is really rich stuff. I loved that. I loved doing the school side of it."

I love hearing that. I like the authenticity of it all. There is such a realism in the HP world along with the fantasty element.
Of course, I had to laugh at Mugglenet reminding people that there isn't many "school related" scenes, just one classroom scene. The movie is centered around a wizarding school. There are tons of school scenes! Plus a classroom scene. Pratically every seen 'cept for the Riddle House stuff, QWC, sort of the tasks, and the graveyard scene is the only thing is dealing with school life. LOL

dont you find school stories the most entertaining? it's maybe because everyone of us goes through that experience. and the best thing about doing or watching a wizarding school movie is that we can imagine that our school is as fun as theirs..you know..when i first started reading HP,i remember wishing and dreaming that Hogwarts existed and I could go to a school like that. thats why i joined SS! for the RP!
i may have diverted from the topic...hehe

Having attended a Brittish boarding school I enjoy the school part of the HP story. The freedom you experience living at your school is very different than going to school from home. You grow up quicker and you learn to take care of yourself faster. It's a great experience.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jeremy Bradford Fifth Year | "It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not." That's neat. I have to agree with him. I love the classroom. Call me crazy, but I love school. I just love everything about it from the people to the learning. I know, I'm weird. But I've always loved how everything is a school story with Harry Potter.

I agree the books are so real yet Jo still manages to maintain the fantasy theme throughout the books

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |

| Ultimate Potterite Original original I love that part of the book as much as I love every other part. I've always thought going away to school like that would be really cool..so this is as close as I can get (till I go to college, at least). |

The school scenes are great. I actually have renamed some of my classes to correspond with hogwarts classes. For example: My three hour long Algebra class is now called Double Potions. lol

I really like what he says. A lot of the fun stuff and dangerous stuff happens in the school or near it or something like that.

| I'm glad he thinks this way! The school part of the Harry Potter books shouldnt be over looked. And school is so interesting, its really where you learn to 'grow up' becuase thats what everyone else is doing and no one wants to be left behind. |

Funny sounds like my family over dinner every night... but seriously folks somebody take them...PLEASE. Anyways, uhm, yeah, about that...well they both fail because grownups are childish and if kids wanted to act like adults they'd just act like themselves cuz grownups are childish anyways right...
