I don't think Dumbledore is too harsh. You've got to remember he has no idea what's happened. Perhaps he's a little heavy-handed in man-handling Harry but to me he came across as anxious, frightened and worried.

I loved how scared Hermione was because we don't normally see that. It's usually a very confident, "I know everything" type of way with her. But with Moody... I think she realized she was dealing with a professional whose been known not to have all his screws tightened, so to speak... And I think the scenes aren't as rushed as they look because I don't think they show us everything.

I thought Hermione was a bit of a git there. She really didn't need to be that bad, but then I guess when you put it with the other scene it makes sense... she's scared for him, and he hasn't done anything and they have to cram for it.

That's exactly it. You feel bad for Ron here, but at the same time, you want to hit him because you know better. It was perfectly done. Like I said, even the writing was good with this one.

LOL I loved how they showed Ron is an insensative wart. But they also showed that Ron tries to compete with his brothers. It was a good scene all around. And I don't think Snape was abusive per se... I think we apply muggle rules, so to speak, to wizarding rules. Everyone knows in the real world that'd have been *bad*, but for them... it's probably something they'd do.

LOL I loved the scene. Emma and Rupert were great. I just loved how she was like, "Ugh!" And then she finally got fed up with it. And Ron... Rupert showing his disgust with everything... perfect.

Wasn't that absolutely perfect? I guess my problem with Harry smiling is that it's so easy to see it romantically. It probably wasn't meant that way, but it's easy to see it that way. But Ron... I love him! "No. No, that's not Hermione." Or whatever he said.

This is obviously where I disagree. I think Michael Gambon was perfect. Where you saw it as harsh, I saw it as losing control. He was more afraid and got angry. You could tell he knew better, but he was also like, "I have to blame Harry... it's got to be Harry's fault..." because if it's not, it's bad... And then as the scene goes on, you see so many different emotions. I think PoA didn't capture Dumbledore enough for Gambon, but this will...

Isn't she wonderful? She made that scene. It was perfect.

I felt for both Harry and Ron in this scene. Ron because you know he was hurt enough to not tell Harry things, and Harry because it was hurting him that his best friend would do that... but then you realize that if Ron thought it to be dangerous he'd have never done that to Harry...

I thought that was interesting because by that time that was filmed, I'm sure they had no idea about HBP. But I still say adding Ron would've been brilliant at that point. And I thought that Hermione was definitely nagging. "You told me you had it figured out!" ROFL I see more and more of the motherly thing then any H/Hr moments that others were talking about. That's good!

I love that scene until Ron says, "It's one thing for a bloke to go alone. But for a girl, it's just sad," and yes I agree with you, it was HORRIBLE, but my take was that I thought he was going to be a bit more nicer, that really bugs me because it was like Ron was saying “you better come with one of us or else you will be all by yourself...and that is going to be embarrassing” or something like, if I was Hermione I would have kick his arse…Ron’s face on that scene really annoyed me.

Yeah. Especially with the DADA bit, it's obvious the scene doesn't end where the clip does. I also think there might be an extra bit between where McGonagall goes and Harry starts staring at Cho in her ball gown.

but i gotta say im impressed the quality of the clips are fab and wow! The nagging yeah you could see that annoyed Harry because he was sarcastic. "Physical being". That was too funny. Hermione says that innocently and then realises seconds later how wrong it could sound. But it's very true, Krum was always shown to be quiet and moody rather than loud and outspoken.

Ron is meant to be an idiot in the 'talking about the Ball' scene. And he is. It's canon Although admittedly it's cringeworthy. You feel like screaming, "NO RON! YOU IDIOT, DON'T SAY THAT!". Typical bloke. Put his foot totally into his mouth bigtime.

edit: Once again I was struck by how natural Katie is. She really is the dark-horse in this film, acting-wise. She's brilliant. And her accent is to die for.

Ron's suppose to be that way. He's immature when it comes to that sort of thing, so he tends to say really insensative stuff, even though he doesn't mean it that way.

Yes, definitely! And we know there is more to the DADA class because we know the whole spider deal... But I'm glad they didn't show us the whole thing. Don't completely kill the scene by showing us everything. Makes me wonder if there is more to the Ron/Harry fight. Which again, I absolutely LOVED.

That is why probably the movie reviewers felt more for Hermione that Ron in those scenes; I just wanted to kick him!

Yeah then again it is Hermione who you're meant to feel for. The audience is meant to feel for Ron in the Harry/Ron tension parts because he's the one who is overshadowed by everyone; his siblings and his friends.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I think Kloves actually did an excellent job with writing these two storylines. You do feel sorry for Ron in the Harry/Ron stuff, and you DO feel sorry for Hermione in the R/Hr fights... but at the same time, you totally understand what's going on. You get that Ron's a bit of an immature git, and that he's actually mad for no reason because Harry didn't do it on purpose... it's perfect. Kloves, I may be okay with you returning for HBP.

And I agree about Katie. She's a great surprise, but I'd like to see the others. From what I could tell in Vanity Fair, Robert is good, but he didn't have much to do... I'm really interested in seeing Stan though.

Now I think about it yeah that really was a missed opportunity. But in retrospect maybe it's better that way because he'll now be genuinely shocked in HBP when Ginny says just how physical Hr/K got. If Ron had been in that GoF scene he would already have had an idea. Clever coincidence considering the film-makers didn't know about that revelation then.

WOW, i must admit i'm very impressed with Rupert's acting on this one, i wasn't happy with how he did on the previous movies with his one and only scared/worried expresion.
But here he seems to have nailed Ron's attitude, he portrays perfectly how big of an idiot Ron was on GoF.
Katie is great, awsome, you can see why Harry is so taken with Cho, she is such a beautiful girl, and seems to have an aura about her. Pity Cho turns out to be a wacko in OoTP, lol.
Ema is even better than before, she's so natural, and perfect at nagging, so Hermione-ish. I don't like this dumbledoe *AT ALL*, Dumbledore never loses his cool (at least not in GoF), and he definitely never gets so angry, unless it's at the Dursleys, heck, he doesn't get that angry or scared ('cause he seemed scared) when he faces Voldemort in OoTP. This Dumbledore doesn't have any class at all.

Actually in the H/R fight I don't feel sorry for Ron at all, I see him as stubborn and not loyal, and in the asking Dates I see him as an Idiot, so in none of those scene I felt bad or sorry for Ron at all..Heck no!! again I wanted to kick his ****

That's true, but Hermione does correct herself without a hint of embarassment like, "I'm lying through my teeth here..." So it's one of those situations where it'd have been really good, but also it could work out in the end... Because it'd be like that scene in Potions when Ron learns that Viktor asked Hermione to stay with him that summer... One would have to guess that something went on with V/Hr for that to to be asked, but it doesn't really hit you until it's mentioned out right like Ginny did. So yeah, just one of those situations...

I don't have a problem with that, we all know that Ron likes Hermione, but saying that Harry has been worst with Hermione than Ron, that is wrong.

Any ways, I forgot to mention how much I love the scene of Harry asking Cho to the ball... I love Katie's accent.
