Post Mads Mikkelsen teases epic finale between Newt & Grindelwald in 'Fantastic Beasts' 3

While promoting the release of his new movie Riders of Justice, actor Mads Mikkelsen teased to USA Today an epic finale to come in Fantastic Beasts 3 between his character Gellert Grindelwald and Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander.

Quote:
He had to awkwardly enter the third Harry Potter prequel while filming was underway during the COVID-19 pandemic. So the cast led by Eddie Redmayne made pains to give welcome, even to the actor they'd be battling onscreen. (Redmayne, as Newt Scamander, went head-to-head with Mikkelsen for three weeks straight for the epic ending.)

"I'm just this guy trying to fill out these shoes that somebody else has been wearing," says Mikkelsen, speaking via Zoom call on a filming break in Spain. "It's difficult to come three months into shooting while taking over for someone like that. They did their best to make me feel at home, each knocking on my trailer door."
Not more of that finale have been mentioned, though there are rumors going around that Warner Bros. and the Fantastic Beasts team may be setting up the finale of third installment as not just one for the movie itself, but possibly the series as a whole if it does not do as well financially as its predecessors did. Again, this is a rumor to be taken with a grain of salt and without any confirmation.

The third installment, out July 15, 2022, will be directed by David Yates, and will bring back the cast of the series including Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore along with Ezra Miller (Credence / Aurelius Dumbledore), Callum Turner (Theseus Scamander), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Victoria Yeates (Bunty), William Nadylam (Yusuf Kama), Poppy Corby-Tuech (Vinda Rosier), and Jessica Williams as Professor Eulalie “Lally” Hicks. Mads Mikkelsen will now take on the role of Gellert Grindelwald.
