J.K. Rowling will be interviewed on BBC 2 and BBC Radio 4 in two new specials that will broadcast the week of the release of her new book,
The Casual Vacancy.
BBC 2 will
air its documentary "JK Rowling - Writing For Grown-Ups: A Culture Show Special" on Wednesday, September 26 from 10.00-10.30pm GMT, where interviewer James Runcie will go to the author's Edinburgh house to discuss how she has moved on from the Harry Potter series with her first book for adults.
Quote:
Interviewer James Runcie will meet the notoriously private writer in her hometown of Edinburgh to find out about the pressure and pitfalls of following up the 20th Century’s biggest literary phenomenon. Rowling will reveal how she finally moved on from Potter and the challenges of making the leap writing fiction for adults.
On
BBC Radio 4 the day of the book's release, September 27, Rowling will participate in "Front Row" with Mark Lawson, who will discuss topics ranging from
Harry Potter to her involvement in the London summer Olympic games. That special will be broadcast from 7.15-7.45pm GMT. We will of course have both interviews here as they are made available online; rumours are also surfacing that Jo has done or will do print interviews with U.K.'s The Guardian and The Times, though no confirmation yet.
Quote:
In a wide-ranging conversation with Mark Lawson, JK Rowling discusses the inspiration for her new novel The Casual Vacancy, and also reflects on the Olympic opening ceremony, the effects of her success with Harry Potter – and whether she will return to her most famous character.
