Post J.K. Rowling discusses 'Strike - The Cuckoo's Calling', why she chose TV over films

BBC One released a new interview with J.K. Rowling leading up to Sunday's premiere of Strike - The Cuckoo's Calling in the U.K.

The Harry Potter author commented on how she hoped to not be outed as the true face behind Robert Galbraith until at least the first three books came out - but unfortunately that was not the case (her identity was revealed not long after the first book, The Cuckoo's Calling, was published).

The series' producer Ruth Kenley-Letts revealed that Rowling and her team received a lot of calls from Hollywood execs to turn the Strike novels into movies, but she opted for television instead:

Quote:
Ruth Kenley-Letts: "JK Rowling's agent did get a number of calls from studios in Hollywood – lots of people, actually."

"But because we knew that she was planning on writing quite a few of these books in the series – we still don't know how many – it just seemed natural and lent itself to a TV series. And when the BBC stated that they'd be really keen to commission it, we chose to go that route."

"JK Rowling's been involved all the way through. She read all the drafts of the scripts, she came into the cutting room and saw each episode when it was ready.

"She was involved in the casting of our leads [Tom Burke as Cormoran Strike and Holliday Grainger as Robin Ellacott], so she was very present throughout the process.
Numerous photos from the three-part Strike - The Cuckoo's Calling, airing August 27, 28, and September 3rd, were released by BBC One and Galbraith's official site with stars Tom Burke (Cormoran Strike) and Holliday Grainger (Robin Ellacott):
