J.K. Rowling comments on Scotland's Better Together Campaign, donates £1 million J.K. Rowling took to her official site Wednesday to discuss the heated topic of the Better Together Campaign, where, on September 18, Scotland will send a referendum trying to secede from the United Kingdom and become its own independent nation. The Harry Potter author, who lives in the capital city of Edinburgh, had some comments about the chance that the split might take place beginning this fall (she is for staying with the UK). For those interested, the full post is here. It was also reported that Rowling donated £1 million to fight for the Better Together Campaign, reported The New York Times. Quote:

LOL "there's a mention of Death Eaters in paragraph 5." I like when she references her own material. I do find this interesting though. It's a fascinating debate for a nation that's been united since the 1700's. Edit: Just read the piece on her website, lol. Very well-written argument. |
Just shows how intelligent she is. She's absolutely right about the nationalist fringe being obsessed with independence and demonising everything, and it seems to be impossible for them as well to outline the economic consequences for Scotland. Just saying it will be all roses is really not going to help. Rowling is said to have been abused online about it as well, shame on every nationalist who did that. |
Very interesting. I admire her courage to show her |
