Post HBP: 10.8m Print Run

It was announced today, by USA Today, that the US editions of 'Half-Blood Prince' (published by Scholastic) would have an all-time high print run of 10.8 million books. This breaks a record which was set by 'Order of the Phoenix' in 2003 comprising of 8.5 million books.

Barbara Marcus, the president of Scholastic Children's Books, said, "We know, based on past experience, that readers will want a copy the minute it goes on sale."

"We wanted to be ready so that every single child, every single person who started out with Harry Potter when it began and every family that wants multiple copies will be able to get them."

Wow! That many?

Quick question! Does the UK strike midnight before anyone else? If so, does that mean i can get a head start on the reading?

*Dreams of rampaging through her local town to find her bookstore, to collect HP6, read it and then tease others about its content before they can gain access*

I will try not to be so cruel, but no promises..

Wow! So many books! But considering that the pre-orders are the highest ever, will it still be enough?

K-Muggle, please don't! I'd die with all of the waiting! I think I'm in the last time zone to get the books when they come out.

k-Muggle: There's an embargo on the books which means they can't be released until 00:01am 16th July 2005 BST. This means the book will be released around 9AM in Australia.

The embargo is only until then so seeing as the US is behind us, they can still have a midnight release so technically, the UK gets the books 5 hours earlier. I think that's because they have to wait until it's the 16th to release them however if it's the 16th here then they could probably start selling them in the US at around 7PM when it's just gone midnight over here.

Of COURSE we want it the minute it's out! We've waited 2 years! And I plan to stay up all night reading the moment I get it.

I usually avoid the internet when a new HP book is out, because, there will always be someone out there that will have read it and want to spoil it. And after waiting so long, and have someone tell you what happens, the reading experience isn't as exciting. Well, that's what I do.. Wow..10.8 billion... I hope I get it at midnight unlike last time..
