Warner Home Video have sent SnitchSeeker the cover art for the Harry Potter Years 1-7: Part 1 Giftsets, available in both DVD and Blu-ray on April 15, 2011, in the U.S. The cover of the 9-disc Blu-ray set, featuring promos of Harry, Ron, and Hermione from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, can be found in high-resolution in our galleries. The whole "Blu-Ray has billions of special features you won't see anywhere else" shpiel...really not fair to those of us who don't have Blu-Ray DVD players and really can't afford them at the moment. :/

Studios have been in the regular practice of double (& triple) dipping for years now for blatant attempts at more money, release the same title a few years apart but the new one maybe with slightly different special features, trying to get fans to buy it each time. Because really otherwise, what is the point of doing a full box set if the series isn't even complete yet? Plus with it being so close now TO it being complete. Figure DH Part 2 will be out on video probably by Thanksgiving this year, no later than Christmas. Then you put out the definitive, truly "complete" box set of the whole series in one single, nice and neat collection.
The studio is counting on the most hardcore fans who just simply won't be able to resist getting this, the people who essentially wind up getting more or less everything that's officially released of Harry Potter. I urge you to hold strong and not give in to their blatant greed.
EDIT: okay I made this post first without really looking at many other posts here in the thread, but I just went thru and skimmed over most of them, I'm happy to see that many of you are already seem to be on the side of not bothering to get this and waiting for the inevitable full 8 film set by the end of the year | |
