Harry Potter: A History of Magic exhibit opening in New York City from October 5th
 

To mark the 20th anniversary since the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the United States, Scholastic publishing will bring the successful Harry Potter: A History of Magic exhibit to New York City's New-York Historical Society beginning October 5, 2018, running through January 27, 2019.

Harry Potter: A History of Magic drew massive crowds at London's British Library this past fall, including from several actors from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts film series. J.K. Rowling herself had a personal hand in some of the items on display at the exhibit. For more details on times, locations, and how to purchase tickets, see below.

The New-York Historical Society announced today that Harry Potter: A History of Magic, a British Library exhibition, will be on view at the New-York Historical Society from October 5, 2018–January 27, 2019. New-York Historical Members can reserve advance tickets beginning on February 14 at 12 pm. Tickets go on sale to the general public in April.

Capturing the traditions of folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories, Harry Potter: A History of Magic unveils rare books, manuscripts, and magical objects from the collections of the British Library, New-York Historical Society, Scholastic, and other special collections. Visitors can explore the subjects studied at Hogwarts and see original drafts and drawings by J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter illustrators Mary GrandPré and Jim Kay. 20th Anniversary

September 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of the U.S. publication of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and Scholastic will kick-off its year-long campaign starting in January 2018. The Wizarding World will have one of its busiest years ever in the U.S., with the opening of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, on Broadway, in April; the British Library’s exhibition Harry Potter: A History of Magic, opening at the New-York Historical Society in October; and the second Fantastic Beasts movie, The Crimes of Grindelwald, opening in cinemas, in November. The seven Harry Potter books have sold more than 160 million copies in the U.S. alone and over 450 million copies worldwide. The books are published in over 200 territories in 80 languages.
