What's a "worst Briton"?

Channel 4 do this series of programmes of the top 100s eg best movie stars, best adverts, but this week they did the top 100 worst britons basically the top 100 worst people in Britain!
I agree its stupid to have Harry Potter I never saw that bit I only saw 20 downwards!! I guess some people just think the whole idea of it is stupid!

This just show's how low TV in Britain has sunk. Channel Four used to be an intelligent station, now it just pours out this endless stuff of Top what ever lists.

Also its funny to note that more than like all the people who voted for Tony Blair to top the list, also voted for him to be Prime Minister. What ever the TV and newspapers tell most people to do or think in this country they do, it and think it.

So basically they just have the people that they don't like.

Harry Potter Isn`t a real person so why put him on the 35th thingy...They are weird....

And why is Tony Blair number 1? Although he is the British equivalent of an American Democrat, I think he is a great man for doing what he did and showing his support for America and the war. It was something that had to be done, and I'm glad I didn't have to boycott anything British. I still refuse to touch anything French. This will get me in so much trouble here..

i don't mean to be rude or anything but tony blair may be in some peoples opinion be doing a good thing with the war but he hasn't exactly done much good for the uk. also harry potter at no. 35 what a load of tosh he doesn't even really exsist.

personally don't agree with some folks who come here and say slightly offending things abt countries and thier premiers
now im neither british or american or french but i just think that this should be harry potter and nothing else.
and on that note....say even if we do go ahead and consider that harry is british why is he in the 'worst' list at all?
i mean dont mean to be patronizing but harry potter kinda put england back on the map

Well in away your right it did put Britain back on the map and it is very good for the tourist industry and as en employer here in Britain anything that ups the economy is good. But here in Britain anything that is anyway successful has to be put down and trashed.

Tony Blair was the saviour of the country when he was voted Prime Minister, but he hasn't given the people everything they think they should haver, so the stupid people in this country think he is stuff.

Also to the person who said he hasn't done much for the country, well how about these things, brought in a minimum wage so people don't get paid £1.oo and hour for working, brought in the bill Human Rights Act and signed us up to the European Working Directive. How about increaseing maternity leave from 18 weeks to 26 paid leave, and anything up to a year off while your employer holds your job open. How about Fexible working hours for parents, the right to call in isick and not be penalised for it, if your child is ill. How about the fact that you know longer have to work time served to get hoilday pay entitlement.

I don't want to fill the page with references to just what has been achieved by this administration, after 20 years of destrcution by the last lot, because this is a HP site, not a party political broadcast on behalf of Tony Blair, but perhaps you think he may have done nothing for you, but thats doesn't mean they have achieved nothing. But there it just goes to show my point the newspapers and TV pundits are pushing this now, that Blair hasn't delievered on all he said he would, so he must be stuff and people here suck it up.

As for Harry Potter, being fictional doesn't come into, it is just to successful and has made JK Rowling far to much money, now they need to trash her and put her back down were she belongs, but also get as many interviews with her as possible and sell as much Harry Potter related dross as they can. You have to understand the pathtic class riddle society that is Britain, to understand why they are so insecure that they can not have anything that is to good and definitely should not be seen to praise it too highly.


And yes, to the person who asked, "basically they just have people they don't like". so childish really and you can hardly take them seriously, as when they had the Greatest Britain in the entire history of the country Princess Diana came 3rd above the likes of Shakespeare, Sir Issac Newton and Elizabeth the 1st which just goes to show how good these programmes are.

the list is a bit of a joke- its not supposed to be taken seriously... if you asked people in england a serious question about who they thought had been the worst for our country then harry potter would not feature on the list.

the list is just about annoying people- people who are always getting too much publicity etc. i can perfectly see why harry potter might be on there- remember tamagotchi a few years back- though people loved them it was always in their face, and it was kinda annoying too.

the upcoming release of book 5 and the massive amounts of media coverage about everything harry potter and JK rowling can be annoying...

but chill guys its only a bit of fun- please dont start throwing in your political opinions about the war and other countries, you know that if people get like this then people wont bother to post the "fun" news anymore... whats hte point if people cant take a joke.
