A 16-year-old high school student was arrested on Monday, for posting online a complete unauthorized translation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in French just days after the English version was released on July 21. The boy was released the following day after questioning by authorities but could be charged at a later date for "violating intellectual property rights."

French police shut down the website.

French translator, Jean-Francois Menard, is currently working on the official translation of Deathly Hallows which is due to be released on October 26.

That's just about rediculous. But then again, I wouldn't wait until 2008 if it was me...

It really ticked me off when people kept threatening to tell me what happened in the end. It's not right to torture fans like that. I made sure I stayed away from the site while I was reading the last book. I'd hate to have it ruined for myself, let alone someone else.

Yikes.

That's a very foolish thing to do, but I can imagine how anxious the French would be for the book and how big the demand for the translation would be - October 26 is a LONNNNG way off!
