Billowing to a $317.5M cume at offshore turnstiles, the Warner Bros’ franchise-starter has hatched a $474M global tally thus far. The 2nd frame was worth $132M in 67 markets, including strong openings in China and Japan.

Holodver hubs saw a 46% drop on the JK Rowling creation. The overall session was down roughly 9.3%, buoyed by the $41.1M start in China and $15.5M bow in Japan. The Middle Kingdom launch for Beasts on 11,600 screens already exceeds the lifetimes of all Harry Potter movies, save the finale which grossed about $61M there. In Japan, the five-day opening drew 72% of the market, topping the bows of all Potter pics — save Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows 2 with which it was on par.
The sequel to Fantastic Beasts has already been greenlit by Warner Bros., and begins filming next July at Leavesden Studios in the UK.

For everyone who wants a breakdown of the first movie, just order J.K. Rowling's screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Just one thing to note - this is NOT the original script that Rowling wrote and what the cast and crew used for filming, but one that aligns with the final cut of the movie out now. This means that there are no deleted scenes featured in this script, just everything that was already on screen.
