Emma Watson, Harry Potter costars attend 'Beauty and the Beast' LA premiere, review
Emma Watson was joined by a couple of familiar faces at the world premiere of Beauty and the Beast in Los Angeles on Thursday evening - Harry Potter costars Tom Felton and Matthew Lewis, whom Emma personally invited via a group chat between the friends.
Emma headlined the premiere at the El Capitan Theatre with costars Dan Stevens, Josh Gad, Luke Evans (the scene-stealer of the entire movie), director Bill Condon and many more. A few photos can be found below.
Matt commented on the red carpet about how Emma invited her friends via a Harry Potter cast group chat on WhatsApp (Evanna Lynch attending the London screening last week).
Matthew Lewis: “We had like a WhatsApp group, and she invited a whole bunch of us all over the place. So I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll come over.’”
“She’s hoping to use her experiences to try and help people, and I think that’s absolutely fantastic. I think that she’ll do it with Belle — Belle won’t be a damsel in distress.”
Disney released new features, behind the scenes looks, and interviews from the set of Beauty and the Beast, out this March 17th. For those wondering, SnitchSeeker did get a preview screening of the movie, and while there were definite deficiencies with the production value (amateurish directing, bad angling cinematography, choppy editing), the performances were better than anticipated. Honestly, Luke Evans as Gaston stole the show, so for those who are fans of the actor, they will not be disappointed.
Emma herself wasn't wonderful, but passable, as Belle. Her singing sounded like badly-recorded auto-tuning in a studio, and whether that was to mask her actual singing abilities or the faults of the editing team remains to be scene. She would have done better under the assistance of a better director.
