| | 'Driving Lessons' film review
Ciaran from Mugglenet yesterday attended the Dublin Film Festival where ' Driving Lessons' [starring Rupert Grint and Julie Walters] was screened. The full review [including quotes from the film and a run-through of the plot] can be read here. Quote:
“Give me the car key,” she says.
“What? OK, fine…” says Rupert.
She then swallows it.
Now, we see another side to Ben. He turns angry, but absolutely incredulous at the same time. At this point, my lack of confidence in Rupert’s acting ability completely subsided. He pulled off the emotions spectacularly, and curses for the first time, which is pretty hilarious.
“What? You must be out of your mind!” he bellows.
“Don’t worry… It’ll [the key] be with us in the morning,” says Evie nonchalantly.
Quote:
All in all, I think this was a terrific film. The audience becomes emotionally involved in the film as we see the actors portray feelings of loneliness and despondency, but comic relief is also used to great effect. I believe Rupert’s acting at the beginning of the film was – to be honest – awful. But it turns out, he was meant to be extremely shy and introverted. We really see his true ability as the film progresses and his character becomes more relaxed and extroverted in the company of his good friend, Evie.

Take this review with a grain of salt. This review comes from a hard core Emma fan who commented that Rupert is shy and stupid. I don't mind the criticism, but I would rather it come from a non biased person without any knowledge of the HP world and the Rupert's mannerisms during interviews.
I noticed Emma raises her eyebrows in interviews. She should not do that when she is acting. Ha ha. What point do I have? I don't know. I'll stop now!

I can't wait to see this film! But I think the person reviewing doesn't know what it's like to be shy and reclusive. I think Rupert is pretty much accurate in his portrayal, or at least the sound of his portrayal. This coming from someone who spent half her life being shyer than most people.

Do we know the release date and the rating? Hmmm sounds pretty good....Alright maybe that's just because Rupert's in it!

I was a bit annoyed at Ciaran saying that Rupert was bad at the start, he was not.. and I have every right to say that, because I was at the film festival on Monday, and Rupert was really good.. I don't know what he meant about stony-faced, because I thought that Rupert really got the essence of the character.. he was wonderful... and that is not a biased Rupert-loving opinion.. it is the truth
