Doctor Who's Arthur Darvill would love to play Dumbledore in 'Fantastic Beasts' films Now that the first installment in the Fantastic Beasts series is released, with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the biggest topic of discussion for its sequel is the highly-anticipated casting of young Albus Dumbledore. Director David Yates and producer David Heyman have confirmed that Dumbledore, in his 40s at the time of the Fantastic Beasts sequel, has yet to be cast. However, the first actor has openly thrown his name into discussion for the potential casting of Dumbledore, a major character in the new Wizarding World film series from J.K. Rowling. Arthur Darvill, of Doctor Who and DC's Legends of Tomorrow fame, recently admitted that he would jump at the chance to be Dumbledore if asked. Darvill, for those wondering, is much younger than Dumbledore, at 34 years old (and nearly 20 years young than the actor portraying Grindelwald, who is incidentally younger than Dumbledore). <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Quote:
Dumbledore, Hogwarts Transfiguration Professor at the time of the second movie in 1928, will play a key role going forward in the entirety of the Fantastic Beasts saga, which will end with the iconic duel between him and former friend and now foe Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). Filming for the second Fantastic Beasts movie will begin this July, and Dumbledore's casting will be confirmed well before then. For everyone who wants a breakdown of the first movie, just order J.K. Rowling's screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Just one thing to note - this is NOT the original script that Rowling wrote and what the cast and crew used for filming, but one that aligns with the final cut of the movie out now. This means that there are no deleted scenes featured in this script, just everything that was already on screen. Roryyyyyyyyyy :loved: i would LOVE to have Arthur in Potterverse :x3: i already have him in my two fave fandoms (DW and DC :D) so hey yeah of course in HP too, he fits right in <3 ..... just not sure if he'd be a good fit for Dumbledore though :whut: at this point, you gotta figure out which actor can hold his own against Johnny Depp you know? also Grindy is even younger than DD so gotta cast accordingly. but i'd be so game to have Arthur as a Wizard, i'd rather that he play an original character that he can make his own rather than having to have baggage of previous portrayals to always be compared against. also i still want him as Capt Rip Hunter on Legends of Tomorrow. his appearance is long overdue this season  |
