It seems that when Harry gave Dobby the sock in Chamber of Secrets, he helped Dobby out of the series altogether! MTV.com reports that Dobby the House Elf will not be seen in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Toby Jones, the actor who voiced Dobby in CoS gives his opinion on why the part of Dobby was cut :

"I know that the filmmakers have a problem with each new film because the books are getting longer — there's so much to include in them,"
The article also says that Kreacher will be in the film, and notes the possible role of the house elf in the mysterious dissapearance of the locket at Number 12, Grimmauld Place.

Well I guess since they didn't include Doby in the fourth one and they left out the whole S.P.E.W. thing with Hermione he has sort of lost his importance. I mean they didn't even make him give Harry the gillyweed. I can't wait to see Kreacher though. I hope he is good. Now he is a character I think is way too important to leave out.

There are defenetly going to be alot of disappointed hp fans... the only thing is that some of you are right. There are so much in the later years that happens that they don't have enough room in the movies to put every thing. I'm sure that there will be some mention of dobby... how else do they find the room of requrements? Didn't dobby show it to Harry? any who... i'm sure that with book five being so long they had to cut something... But hey those of us who read the books know the real deal! And that's what counts... if it weren't for us we wouldn't have the movies... If J.k.'s books weren't read by us who know's if there would have been a movie made of it! Well any way... i still can't wait to see it just so i can see what they put in and what they cut out!
