Post Daniel Radcliffe talks pre-Hogwarts Harry Potter play, 'The Cripple of Inishmaan'

Daniel Radcliffe was at the opening night after party for his play The Cripple of Inishmaan in New York City on Sunday, and spoke to SnitchSeeker about the production and the upcoming pre-Hogwarts Harry Potter play, co-produced by J.K. Rowling. Dan revealed few tidbits about The Cripple of Inishmaan as well as his thoughts about someone else portraying Harry for fans. The Cripple of Inishmaan will play on Broadway until this July.

SnitchSeeker: What's been your take on the American reception of the play, compared to the British?
Daniel Radcliffe:
I was just talking to somebody about this - the fact that the laughs are about the same. Because there's a couple of different places where people laugh in it [but] they didn't in London; some places where they don't here, but they did in London. But generally, they're all in the same place. The difference is, actually, London audiences don't gasp, and they don't 'ooh' and 'ahh' - and that's lovely. As an actor, it just gives you permission to push the emotion even further, or push the darkness of the scene even further. You feed off it as an actor.

SnitchSeeker: That one scene, the solo scene you have alone, can you explain it a bit further? Because it's sort of ambiguous - especially since you come back.
Daniel:
Yeah, I don't kind of want to explain it too much, but if it's ambiguous...

SnitchSeeker: I'll put a spoiler tag on it.
Daniel:
Okay, put a big spoiler on it.

SnitchSeeker: Yeah, I will.
Daniel:
People who are going to go to the play, don't listen to me anymore.

SPOILER!!: don't read if you're going to see the play

Daniel: It's a scene that Martin wrote of Billy, in America, essentially learning the lines of a film about a boy who is in a similar situation to him and is dying. So that's what that scene is.

SnitchSeeker: There's a Harry Potter play coming next year. How do you feel about somebody else taking on that iconic role?
Daniel:
That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that. But I had a fantastic run of ten years with it and I hope that it is as good to them as it has been to me. It's been a wonderful thing so I wish them all the luck in the world.

SnitchSeeker: You'll be there to watch it?
Daniel:
I suppose I will at some point. But it won't be on the opening night, and I'll be sneaking in under a disguise.
