Post Dan Fogler talks working with 'Fantastic Beasts' costars Jude Law, Johnny Depp, more

While promoting the publication of his new comic, Brooklyn Gladiator, Dan Fogler naturally was asked by fans and various media outlets about his work in the Fantastic Beasts series, including November's release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Fogler, who plays No-Maj Jacob Kowalski, commented his thoughts of working alongside his troupe of magical misfits, Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), and Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), as well as new cast like Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore) and Johnny Depp (who has more scenes in the second installment as Gellert Grindelwald).

Quote:
What was it like working with Johnny Depp and Jude Law?
Dan Fogler:
Ah yes the question of the hour. Jude is a Gentleman and his charisma is a sort of super power, pretty sure he's kryptonian he has this "crystal Gaze" that i'm convinced is Xray style. and a mench. if that makes any sense...

aaaaand Johnny. Johnny. Johnny. Johnny... what can i say? despite the sad fact that there was/is a swirling wind of controversy around him, He was REALLY cool me. i can only state facts. and what i know is i didn't have a lot of scenes with the guy but when we were just chilling off camera he let me pick his brain about Brando and Hunter S. Thompson and Rock and Roll and he didn't have to do that. and it was just so Fun to have both of these Legends hanging around.

You talked to J.K. Rowling about your character's background, for sure. Is there something you can tell us about that talk that we don't know? For us, the "canon researchers" of the Wizarding World would mean a lot to add more information about Jacob. Also, if you could mention something fun/interesting about those talks with Mrs. Rowling that'd be great.
Dan Fogler:
Jk was so cool. she said she really loved Jacob. cut from the same cloth as Ron. he get's to be comic relief, lover, and hero all in the same journey. she was as giddy and excited to share her story with us as we were to hear it.
Quote:
Hey dan, thanks for having this q&a. Among the people on the fb sets who do you as a comedian find the funniest?
Dan Fogler:
Um Ezra is Hysterical, Eddie is Rather Cheeky and both Alison and Katherine are lovely quirky giggle munchkins... but that Niffler man...he doesn't have to say anything and i'm in stitches!
Quote:
Absolutely loved you in Fantastic Beasts! Do you know if there are any plans to show bloopers/the rest of the deleted scenes from the movie? I remember David Yates hinted something about the possibility. And I know you'll be promoting the sequel now but seeing unreleased stuff from the first one would be amazing. Especially for those of us who want to see more of Colin Farrell who is not in the sequel, unfortunately.
Dan Fogler:
right, yes i'd love to see bloopers. there were many. just being dragged by that demiguise through Macy's alone should produce hours of fun. yeah Collin was cool i hope he pops up in a box somewhere down the line. not sure if Grindy created Graves when he morphed into him or he based it on someone... i'll ask jk.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is the second of five all new adventures in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World™.

At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

The film features an ensemble cast led by Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, with Jude Law and Johnny Depp. The cast also includes, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo, and Poppy Corby-Tuech.

“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is directed by David Yates, from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling. The film is produced by David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.

Slated for release on November 16, 2018, the film will be distributed worldwide in 2D and 3D in select theatres and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
