| | |  Bloomsbury reveals new look for Harry Potter series
Bloomsbury, U.K. publishers of the Harry Potter books, today announced a new look for the seven titles in the series. Illustrated by Clare Melinsky, the new ‘Signature’ look was created to appeal to the next generation of readers. Quote:
Clare Melinsky commented, ‘I was delighted and excited to be asked to illustrate the covers for such massively famous books – and seven of them! It was top secret for the best part of a year.’

I quite like the cover of these books but they're not amazing. I much prefer the adult set of the series, which I have. I think they are all photographed.

Hmmm... They look like the old-fashioned books or fairytales! The design and art is very clean, esthetic and reserved... But I think I prefer the previous, Pary Grand Pre's covers...

I dislike it, part of the reason i first liked Harry Potter was for it's original look, the way it looked dark but magical and beautiful at the same time. These new illustrations look to childish in my opinion, too colorful. It doesn't show the real essence of the Harry Potter stories. Although my own opinion won't do much, i hope i still have a chance of buying the old Harry Potter books to pass on to my future children than these new ones.

They look good, but I think the artist didn't want to risk it, plain white background... though the drawings are cool I feel like somethings missing, plus I can't love this illustrations more than the ones I have and grew up looking at.

To be truthful, if I'd never read Harry Potter before, I wouldn't be drawn to these based on the covers.It was partly the colourfulness (not a word, but you get my meaning) that attracted me to pick up the first book...And then obviously the story got me hooked.
I guess I'm alone in really disliking them, though. lol Yes, I have to agree with Sarah there. <33
I'm not a huge fan of the new design...in my opinion they look a little boring...I mean the images are nice and all but it's just too bright with all that white/cream (dunno what exactly it is).
Oh, and I don't like the scene they used for the first one...I don't feel like the chess-game was the most important part of the whole book. O__o
