| | |  Bill Nighy cast in Deathly Hallows
Actor Bill Nighy ( Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean) has confirmed that he will play a good guy in the Deathly Hallows films, although he will not reveal the name of his character. Bill had this to say: Quote:
"I don't think I'm allowed to say it but I'm going to be in the next Harry Potter film," he tells us. "I won't say which character, but he's a goodie. I just got the gig."
He has admitted that he has not read the books yet, though: Quote:
"Not yet, but I will!" he says. "It's rather like being in a Shakespeare that way, you know?"
David Yates said two years ago that he first wanted Bill for the role of Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour in Half-Blood Prince, but the part was cut from the final draft of the script. However, there is no proof at the moment that Bill may have been cast as the Minister. We will have more on this as the story develops.

FINALLY! After loving this guy in Blow Dry and Hitchhiker's Guide...Scrimgeour comes to mind, but Scrimgeour was kind of a schmuck...but offhand I can't think of anyone else, Ted Tonks has already been cast, right?

Oh, why they cut the Minister for Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour character. The minister was so important throughout the series. Quote:

I did enjoy his performance as Davy Jones in the Pirates movies (as they are another one of my favorite movie series.) But I dont think he will play Scrimgeour cause its not that he's a bad guy, I just dont think he's a goody as he states because Harry doesn't really agree with the Ministry.

Seriously, he has been cast as Scrimgeour. Aberforth and Luna's father have both been cast, and David Yates (who has worked with Nighy) stated in an interview that Bill would be his first choice for Scrimgeour. Bill Nighy is a wonderful character actor, IMO. He may not look physically imposing, but he researches his parts well.
Concerning his "goodie" comment: He probably meant "goodie" in the sense that he liked the role. He wasn't necessarily commenting on the content of his character. Bill confessed that he hasn't read the books yet (although he intends to to gain some perspective on his character's traits), so that could explain why he said the character struck him as "good"...at the moment.
