 Ever wonder where your dirty underpants wind up? Just down the corridor, not terribly far from the staircase to the kitchen, the door to the laundry room can be found. What you will find in this room will, likely, not be a surprise. Within are no Muggle washing machines or dryers. Instead, front and centre, are large tubs with accompanying wash boards and sticks. A bizarre system of clothes lines fill the back of the room, beside which tables and large hampers await.
If you happen to wind up here on your House's laundry day, you will see your clothes -- hopefully labelled -- and the clothes of your fellow housemates being washed and dried by a team of house-elves. It is not uncommon to hear them bickering with each other or joining together in a motivational song to help make the job get completed quicker. First the clothes are scrubbed squeaky clean with soap and steaming hot water. They are next hung to dry and then neatly stacked on one of the large tables to be folded and placed back in the hamper to be returned to their owners.
Students are always welcome to be proactive and do their own laundry or at least lend the house-elves a hand. There sure is a lot of laundry to do!

While he was not usually one to find himself racing through the hallways, it occurred to Evan he had left something important in the pocket of one of his trousers before it had gone off to the laundry room that day. He wasn't sure if the house elves checked pockets, especially considering that extra step shouldn't have to be in their lists of responsibilities, so in an effort to save it - here he was. He'd tried to slow while passing all the Professor offices and classrooms, but he'd had a long way to go.
Finally reaching the room, he bee lined for the Ravenclaw laundry piles and began trying to find any of his clothes - which he thankfully was very meticulous about labeling. "Where is it, where is it?" He was mumbling as he sorted.

But as Apollo was casually headed to the Great Hall, there was the blur of a figure headed the other direction that caught his interest. Steering around to follow, the sixth year blinked when he saw Maya and Lisa's brother in there ... panicking?
Well this was unexpected. But Apollo also was kind of grateful about this meeting because he hadn't really spoken a WHOLE lot to Evan... weirdly enough. Did Evan not like him for some reason? Who knew? But this was his moment to show Evan that he was a good guy... Not a random creep who lurked in laundry room doorways, staring...
Giving a fake cough to get the older guy's attention, he walked over to him. "I find when I'm looking for something, the best place is always in the places unexpected." Which was kind of an oxymoron?

Truth be told, Evan didn't have anything particularly against Apollo and his character, but there were still some things that gave him... concerns about his sister's... friendship? His own experiences mostly, and perhaps something it wasn't even fair to keep into consideration any longer given his opinion came from happenings when he was a fourth year and everyone else was even younger still.
But... protective older brother was protective. It was something he was working on. And in a year... he'd be gone and none of them would have to worry about him anyways.
Not in any relationship type regard.
Evan didn't notice Apollo's entrance, until he heard the male speak which unfortunately came a moment after he'd thrown a couple pairs of trousers back behind him and towards the boy. Hopefully his Quidditch training helped him dodge those. As for looking in the places most unexpected, Ev raised an eyebrow. "Which would be... where?" Living in a castle with far too many floors, looking anywhere unexpected could have been anywhere. The expected seemed a far better place.

But he did know where Evan might have been coming from, even if he couldn't relate exactly.
He spoke a moment too late, as he caught a pair of trousers thrown back at him and quickly tossed them aside upon realizing what they were. Waiting too long to speak was never a good thing, since who knew what Evan might have thrown behind him next. He shrugged nonchalantly at the question, because honestly, he had little idea? "Uh.... the washer? Hope it's not your homework" Although if Evan was like his sister, he'd probably just do it over instead of wasting this effort. Okay seriously... where would he look for something?

So like, try in the obvious places?" Apollo was... not wrong there, he certainly would have just re-done his homework. But the particular item he had lost, he was fairly certain he would be unable to recreate. And he also didn't want to admit that it was gone to any other interested parties. So... searching he would have to do. Which wasn't too terrible, considering he didn't have much to do that day anyways. Outside of perhaps homework, which the seventh year and his new laissez faire attitude had zero interest in working on.
It was on the tip of his tongue to quip back that those were all places that were expected, thus disapproving Apollo's theory. But before the words passed his lips, Evan stuffed them down realizing he would have just been taking out his annoyance on himself on the Gryffindor, which was not fair. While the Ravenclaw had concerns, he didn't dislike the boy - so there was no reason to make him feel like he was already dead set against him. Not to mention if he did that, he would be on receiving end of Maya's ire. A spot which he generally did not relish having. "... Right. Washing machine is probably a good idea. The Ravenclaw boys baskets are proving fruitless."
Making an effort, he moved over towards some of the machines to peer in, before pausing again. "What brings you down here? Are you one of those who prefers to wash your own?"
