Not far from the balcony, a large gilded mirror can be found on the fourth-floor corridor. Once upon a time, the mirror hid a secret passageway that would take anyone to Hogsmeade undetected at any time. Unfortunately, there was a cave in mid-way that made the passage end up not leading anywhere. Nevertheless, if you're in a pickle and can get the mirror off the wall and back again, you would at least have a neat hiding place.

Most people just try using the mirror to check on their appearance throughout the day. Oddly enough, however, the mirror doesn't show ones reflection. Always being shown in the mirror is a scene of handsome chandeliers, elegant landscape oil paintings, and golden draperies, which is not at all what the wall of the corridor behind you looks like. This is, of course, one of Hogwarts' many mysteries. The location of the room that the mirror is showing is unknown to everyone today. But every now and then, a dark figure can be spotted in the background before disappearing again.

Joseph Kynaston actually did have some cool stories about the library. The fourth floor was convenient--halfway between the Gryffindor common room and the potions classroom, a central location for anyone meeting...anyone else. Or if you wanted to prank strangers people watch, it was a good place for that as well. Lots of passersby.

Like him. He was a passerby today, on his way to the library. For, well, research. Fun research.

Easily distracted by his surroundings, he couldn't miss the younger student admiring the mirror on the wall. Boring, the kid called it. Frowning, Joseph doubled back to take a look himself. "Only boring people get bored," he commented, inspecting the view through the mirror. He couldn't call it a reflection, after all.

"Mysterious, would be a better word," he said, squinting at the mirror over the...Hufflepuff's head. "Do you know where that is?"

Cool stories about the library? Yeah, right. Jas wouldn't believe it until he heard them. And until then? Snoozefest. 100% without a doubt. He wasn't all that interested in pranks either, so. His point remained: It was boring.

Fun research was an oxymoron, dude.

Jasper looked up when he heard someone addressing him. Rather than rolling his eyes, he gave the older kid a look laced with disbelief. "I don't know about that, dude." It wasn't the first time he had heard that phrase, but Jasper wasn't a big fan. He got bored all the time and he was, by no means, a boring person. It just didn't check out.

"No clue," he shrugged, squinting a bit to get a better look. "I heard there's a secret passageway around here though. Maybe that's where it leads to." Did this guy know how to get there? 'Cause that would be the opposite of boring.

Fun research was an oxymoron, if fun was meant to describe research. But this was research about fun. So, oxymoron or not, Joseph knew his stuff, and his stuff was fun (not boredom).

Joseph grinned down at the little dude. Probably around his brother's age, but from the look of him, in a different house. "Maybe you're just not smart enough to keep yourself occupied, then," he said, winking so the kid would know he was joking and not actually insulting his intelligence.

He would never seriously insult the intelligence of a stranger.

"Hey, that's a thought," he mused, looking back into the mirror. "A secret passageway?" He examined the mirror, and how it was positioned on the wall. "I wonder if we can get the mirror of the wall, if there's a secret passageway around here, it's probably just behind there." Logic.

No, it was still an oxymoron. Even though Jasper didn't fully understand what an oxymoron was.

"Yeah, right," he laughed. It wasn't that funny, but the older Gryffindor looked to be a nice enough guy. Jasper wasn't trying to start anything.

And as for the plotting? Jas was ALL IN. "There's only one way to find out..." Was he thinking what Jasper was thinking? Because Jasper was thinking it was time to wiggle this mirror off the wall. He moved towards it, taking hold of it's frame and seeing if he could get it to wiggle. These things were usually latched on somehow, right?

He had looked in many a mirror in his lifetime, but never had he ever asked himself how they might work.

The laughing was a bit overboard, in Joseph's opinion, but he appreciated the young Hufflepuff's cheerfulness. That was a good thing about Hufflepuffs, he thought. Well, this Hufflepuff, at least.

He grinned as the boy immediately went for the mirror frame. After a moment's thought, Joseph stepped over to grip the other side. A jiggle, perhaps? Unless...if someone had used a sticking charm, they might have to use magic to get it off the wall. To see if there really was a secret passage back there.

"Hey, kid, what's your name?" he asked. Or maybe they just needed a crowbar, or something to pry it off the wall. Either way, they'd need teamwork. And he needed to know what to call kid Hufflepuff, over there.

Victoria had finished with Transfiguration class and was on her way down to the dungeons, to her dorm, when one of the staircases switched, and she was FORCED to off on this corridor. And so now she had to totally REROUTE.

How RUDE, staircases. As she passed the mirror, V tucked some hair behind her ear, expecting to examine herself in the reflection, and she was shocked to see she had no reflection. ‘Oh. Right. This is the mirror that doesn’t show your reflection. Stupid,’ she thought to herself. Normally she wouldn’t have stayed longer at a mirror that didn’t show her reflection, but she saw the tail end of a shadow - a fleeting shadow - from the back of the scene in the mirror. Her hair stood on end, and she jumped practically out of her skin.

“AH!!!!!” She screamed, her hand to her heart.

Jasper liked to keep things light and breezy. The alternative was no fun.

He had expected that the older boy would follow suit, and was pleased that he did so. Though, it wasn't looking to come off easily. Which meant they needed a strategy. Jasper was determined now, so this was happening. "I'm Jasper! And you?" Friendly as ever.

Stuart was just causally walking down the hall when he heard a scream and so he made his way over. QUICKLY. Because a SCREAM meant someone might be in TROUBLE!!

He slid to a stop with his wand out looking around for the reason. But all he saw was V and nothing that looked like trouble.

"Err. Something wrong?" he asked pocketing his wand.

V whipped around to see Stewie and gestured WILDLY at the mirror. "There was - I swear I saw - " but nothing was amiss now. The mirror showed not the corridor's reflection, as per usual, but the shadow???? It was gone. "I could have sworn there was a shadow...it was like creeping around in there," she leaned in really close to the mirror, almost pressing her nose to it as she looked.

But no shadow.

"Do YOU see anything in there? I swear I'm not crazy!" At least not about this.

"Joseph," he said simply, attempting to jiggle the mirror again. It didn't budge. He frowned, focused on the task. Maybe it was hung with a sticking charm. Probably not a permanent one, as that would be ill-advised for a decor item. In his opinion, at least.

After a brief moment's thought--a rarity, for him--he drew his wand and pointed it at the frame of the mirror. "Avexis," he said simply, glad he'd learned the unsticking charm. "Let's try to move it now."

Stuart looked around as if expecting to see whatever V had seen either in the mirror or in their world. But... "No. I haven't seen anything. You just screamed so here I am." That made sense right? Right.

"Were you just passing by? Maybe you ... caught a glimpse of your hair out of the corner of your eye or something?" he offered helpfully.

"Cool! We're double J." He watched as Joseph attempted to jiggle the mirror again. There MUST be a way to get this thing off. Jas didn't give up, it wasn't in his nature to. Not when he wanted whatever it was he was working towards.

"What spell was that?" He wondered out loud, reaching for the frame again and attempting to jiggle it free on the--"Count of three! One..... Two..."
