A maze of thousands upon thousands of books, the library is heaven to any book-lover. Upon entering the high-ceilinged room, the smell of books, both ancient and new, hits you. There are many tall, narrow shelves neatly lined up, each divided into different sections -- charms, potions, Muggles, fiction, and so on. If you find a book you're interested in, simply make use of the sliding ladder or summon the book with Accio to retrieve it.

But the library just isn't a labyrinth of books. In the heart of the library and on the outskirts of it are tables and seating areas designated for quiet research and reading, some with accompanying fireplaces or large stained glass windows. Tucked away in the very back of the library is the Restricted Section, which requires a key that the librarian keeps on his person at all times and permission to enter because of the more mature titles and content that are tightly locked and chained within. At the entrance stands the front desk where the school librarian can usually be found, who will happily recommend a book, check out a book for you, and help you with any of your library needs.

OOC: Please do not play for the Librarian: MadAlice.

Eva/Bells <3

Study and homework dates with Bella were a thing long before the duo had hit their seventh year. With them taking their final major exams before they graduated from Hogwarts, it was no surprise that the professors had dropped a ton of homework on essays. Well, not only on them but all the other seventh years, of course. Jude didn’t mind though; it would help to keep his mind off of other things. Besides, Bella deserved as much of his attention as possible, even if said attention would be competing with homework. Merlin knew how often they would get to see each other after they graduated and went their separate ways.

“I think this table is the one,’’ the Hufflepuff remarked, speaking quieter than usual. It was one before a stained glass window. His back was placed on the table and he sat down, eyeing his close friend thoughtfully. “Had a good week so far, Bells? Is Millie behaving herself?”

Bella was a seventh year and it meant preparing for NEWTS and tons of studying and homework for both core and elective subjects. Their professors new fascination with essays was a thing that the snakette was starting to dislike writing more and more as the weeks passed. If she didn't have Jude to study with and talk to then Bella didn't know if she would have made it this far without spitting out some very foul words in frustration.

Following Jude over to the table before a stained glass window that was in a relatively deserted part of the library she murmured quietly in turn. "Yes, this is a good table." Sitting down across from her close friend her eyes went to the bandage on her left arm that stuck out from under her left rode before looking up and into Jude's eyes. "It's been a fine week, but Millie had a little incident with another cat in the dorms the other day, and she took out her emotions by clawing deep scratches on my arm. I'm okay though Prof Feirgrund has fixed me up. How has your week been?"

Poor Bella.

The frustration and the constant exhaustion from exams and studying were indeed a force to be reckoned with. His Snakette friend was more than welcome to vent to him; this included using all the profanities needed, if it’ll help her feel better. Jude valued his friendships. This one with Bella was quite something; it was one he didn’t ever want to lose. Besides, everyone knew he was a good listener. It was never a surprise when anyone wanted to vent to him.

His gaze followed Bella’s to the bandage then he shook his head as their gaze met. “Cats, right? The scratches weren't too deep, were they?” Claws were pretty sharp, the Hufflepuff would know thanks to Ned. “As long as it’s not infected. Or you’re not in that much pain.” Jude adjusted himself on his seat then fished into his bag for his History of Magic book. There was an essay due in a few days and he hadn’t even made a move to write a single word before. “It’s been okay. Now that Reagan’s graduated, I haven’t got a regular dance partner, which sucks because I don’t get as much practice during the school year as before.” His older sister was the only one he had trusted to keep up with him {even if she wasn’t that good}. “Have you decided what you’re doing after Hogwarts, Bells?”

Smiling slightly Bella nodded "Yes cats. We love them, but not their razor sharp claws right?" At least not when they used them to attack their owners. Shaking her head she murmured "I'm fine, not much pain at all. Most of the scratches weren't too deep. It was just one claw that got stuck that Healer Feirgrund had to dig out." Thankfully Bella was infection free and could study. Opening her own bag she mimicked Jude's moves to dig out her own Transfiguration book, parchment and quill. She still hadn't completed her essay for Professor Carton. "Why does professors enjoy assigning us so many essays? They are a pain to write don't you agree?" Bella vented to Jude as she eyed over her essay on switching versus transformation.

Bella was about to dip her quill in her ink bottle to finish the sentance in her essay that she had left uncompleted when Judes words caught her attention. "A regular dance partner....Do you want me to help?" She didn't have the best balance, but she wasn't a total mess on heels. She could help Jude if he needed her to, Bella would do that for their friendship.

“Er…”

Jude thought a little about the question, tilting his head from side to side as he did so. “Not when they’re digging into us, no. But have you ever watched Millie stretch and her little murder mittens emerge? Ugh! Cutest thing ever!” Listen, this Hufflepuff was biased when it came to cats. He loved the furbabies so much! Still, he couldn’t suppress a slight shudder. “THAT must have been painful.” The Healer was quite capable and Jude was sure that Bells would mend without issue. He peered over at the book his friend had gotten out and made a face. “Transfiguration is not my best subject but I can help you with the theoretical aspect more than the practical bits.” He chuckled. “Because they love to torture us! Just kidding! Yes, essays are. Homework is also a pain. I would prefer doing the practicals, hands down.”

Jude flipped his History of Magic book open. This was one of his best subjects and it was the reason he decided to get started with it. However, there was a double take at the mention of Bella wanting to help. “You’re willing to?” Honestly, he was always went mushy whenever his friends showed him kindness, even though he knew he deserved it because kindness is what he always put out in the world. “I would love that! Thank you!”

???? Murder mittens emerge? It took a few moments of silence when Bella like Jude tilted her head from side to side before she finnally understood what he meant and it dawned on her. Shaking her head Bella said with a small laugh and blush. "I wouldn't know Jude, Millie hasn't given birth to any kittens yet. I fear the other castle cats are avoiding her because of her size, but kittens are definitley cuteee." Bella wouldn't mind if Millie had some kittens, she could always send some to her cousins if they got too hard to care for.

"It was a little painful yes, but Healer Feirgrund fixed it up quickly so it's all good now." It was a good thing they had a good school healer or where else could she have gone? Did they have healers in Hogsmeade? "Thanks, I appreciate it." Jude was so kind. "It's the theory i need help with. What is the difference between switching an object into something else as opposed to transforming an object? It's confusing. I prefer the practical bits when you can see the outcome of your spell casting." Having to show you understood the difference in an essay wasn't Bella's favourite part at all she prefered the practical 1000 times more.

Bella was trying her best at writing down an example of a switching transfiguration when she got distracted by Jude's answer. Nodding she swallowed before admitting "I haven't got super balance Jude, but I can dance on high heels, and be your partner. Just don't expect wonders."

Had Bella not known those wickedly sharp claws were called ‘murder mittens’? He got confused watching her be confused. Jude honestly thought everyone knew this. But when his friend started laughing, he followed suit. The conversation took an odd turn to kittens but he just rolled with the flow. “Millie’s great though so don’t you feel bad about that. Just let her be. She’s probably enjoying feline life to the fullest!’’ Just as Ned was! Ned was Jude’s spoilt itty bitty babyand would always be.

Ugh.

Transfiguration. The Hufflepuff’s worst subject. He screwed up his face a bit as he tried to recall what had been taught in class and what he had read. “Hang on. I think I got it!’’ His throat was cleared a bit as he tried to string the right words together. “Switching would mean moving the positions of two objects. Like swapping out um… the leaves of a plant with tiny daisies, for example.” Perhaps not the best one but still. “Transforming would be turning an object into another one completely.” Yeah, Jude thought that was it.

The seventh year laughed again. “No problem! Any help is appreciated. Who knows… I might end up teaching you in the process!"

Had Elizabeth been spending way too much time in the library? Yes. Had she been there enough? No.

She could been found in the library everyday after classes and after dinner until the Librarian kicked her out. So yeah that was where you could find her. Sometimes Elliot would come and study with her. She appreciated the twin time she got with him, and to have a study partner he was good for stuff like that. Mostly thought she was alone which didn't bother her since she was there to study.

Currently she was taking a small short break, caught up in some sort of a day dream, thinking of a certain boy perhaps. Haha maybe. She was twirling her quill around between her fingers absentmindedly.

Hello Earth to Elizabeth!

Lydia and Matilda!!!

Finn didn't think his bag had ever had so many books stuffed into it at once. He supposed maybe it had, when he'd bought them all, but he remembered he hadn't bought all these textbooks at once, so that couldn't be true either. As he scoped out the table situation in the library, Finn made his way to a table that would be big enough for all three of the Clarke triplets. He didn't see either of his sisters, which meant he was the first one.

Which was maybe a little surprising, if you considered how he was possibly the least stressed about their upcoming O.W.L.s. But only because he'd started studying in September, thanks to some questionably good advice from an older student.

Finn dropped the heavy bag on the floor next to a chair and dropped himself into the chair. He glanced around again, just double-checking for any other redheads, then pulled out a sheaf of paper and started rifling through his notes.

Hello Earth to Elizabeth!

The most unfortunate part of her transfer had to be figuring out the new exam schedule. Going from Beauxbatons at the end of Fifth year to Hogwarts at the beginning of Sixth, had to be the absolute worst time of transition for a student. Because, everyone else in her current year already had their results back to them - while this had been her original exam year and now she'd have to catch up on OWLs over the summer, only to then immediately do NEWTs. Beauxbatons would have been one simple test (perhaps not so simple) and then... done!

So see. Terrible transition time.

With a stack of books in her arms, she made her way towards the tables in the library to find herself a good spot to study for the next few hours. Though of course, she had grabbed far too many books and in her typical 'i can do things the muggle way' attitude, she was not using the levitation charm to move them but rather her own arms. Which was going fine, until she started passing someone already seated and two of the book off the top teetered over. "Oh no! Watch out!" She whisper yelled to the girl, figuring raising her voice in this situation still could result in her being ejected.

Lydia, surprising to no one, had not been studying for her OWLs since September. Some revision may have begun around November, but it was pretty minimal and her attempts were quickly interrupted by the Christmas holidays. Plus, the music room called to her most of the time. She was powerless to resist the draw an open, full-of-instruments, wonderful room like that had.

But by now it had really hit her that these exams were important. Probably not as much as they would be if she wasn't going to be a world-famous musician one day (no, she wasn't considering a back-up plan), but that didn't mean she wanted to fail them all. Because that would be embarrassing. Having to resit them later or getting kicked out because she was a failure? What would people think of her?

It was too horrible to think about.

She had no expectations she would get all O's at this point. Just...absolutely no failing.

Finally, carrying a bag full of books and notebooks in tow, she found Finn at a table in the library. No Matilda yet? Lydia was surprised she'd made it before her sister did, but she'd probably be along shortly.

"Ugh, let's get this over with," she said, dropping her own bag unceremoniously on the floor before taking a seat. The sooner she could cram all this knowledge in her head, the better. Then she could get back to something she actually enjoyed.
