Library https://i.postimg.cc/5yWKz6K5/library-banner3.jpg A maze of thousands upon thousands of books, the library is heaven to any book-lover. Upon entering the high-ceilinged room, the smell of books, both ancient and new, hits you. There are many tall, narrow shelves neatly lined up, each divided into different sections -- charms, potions, Muggles, fiction, and so on. If you find a book you're interested in, simply make use of the sliding ladder or summon the book with Accio to retrieve it. |
Open to anyone It didn't take long for Raj to wind up in the library. It didn't even matter that the school term had barely begin and there weren't exams he needed to study for. Nope, it was the familiar space that drew the sixth year to the cavernous, relatively quiet space. Books didn't ask much of him or really let him down other than sometimes being too complicated to really catch his interest but it was enough of a comfort for him. The Ravenclaw decided to take a random wander through the open stacks to see what he could find. His curiosity getting the better of him as his gaze flitted along the spines as he slowly passed them on the shelves with muffled footsteps. |

She came back to reality and heard footsteps near her or on the other side of the bookshelf. “Hello?” she whispered through the bookshelf. |
Quote:
On second thought, he continued walking, turning around the bookshelf between them to investigate, spotting the familiar presence. "Hey." |
Quote:
“Im glad the Ravenclaw table was sort of chill this term…” |
Quote:
The way she had moved and spun around might have said so, but at least the smile sent his way meant that she wasn't bothered. "Nothing much." After all it was still early in the year. A game? Was that what the whispered words were supposed to be the start of? Whoops....he failed at playing along then, no pun intended. "Yeah...it was nice to just settle back." In truth he might have kinda zoned out after a time, taking in the speech briefly and his aunt's appearance at the staff table before eating. |

Lisa nodded in agreement with Raj. Settling back in was needed too. She had been on edge, wondering how the start to her term would commence. So far.. it was mostly good. There were a few odd moments but mostly good. "It must be nice not to have OWLS this year... Less studying.. More fun to be had too - I imagine," she said with a pout. She just had to get through this year. |

Not that he altogether minded the work as it was likely one of the reasons he was sorted into Ravenclaw after all. The desire for knowledge and overall curiosity. |

“Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?” A childish and scary question. Maybe deciding what she wanted to be when she grew up was her boggart. |
Quote:
AH yes, the dreaded thoughts on plans after school. “I’m thinking on possibly being a healer,” he answered finally sitting down at the table nearby. “Though not sure if human or creature related.” The subjects he was good at could go either way and being a creature doctor could still help at the family preserve. “What about you?’ What were her strengths and potential plans for the future? |
Quote:
Lisa followed him over to the table and leaned most of her weight on the nearest chair. A Healer? “A noble career. My eldest brother is a Healer. He works with people. Not creatures…. a creatures one could be good too.” She could imagine both would be rewarding careers. Having her question turned to her gave her pause. Kayla and her had just discussed careers and whatnot. Kayla had a list of 50 MILLION- okay, Lisa was exaggerating, it was more like 500 careers on it. “I’m not quite sure but I enjoy Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration.” Those two were her favourite subjects so far! “I’m not entirely sure what I can do with a career in that though…” |
Quote:
“Well Defense against the Dark Arts would seem to be more ministry-related like aurors and the like.” Though certainly there could be other applications to the subject he supposed, it was just the first thing that popped to mind. “Transfiguration is wide open…and they both can lead to teaching.” Or just for the fun of it, given his fathers were both animangus, one of the most complex forms for transfiguration but it wasn’t necessarily something linked to their current careers other than becoming creatures and caring for creatures. |
Quote:
Lisa nodded when he mentioned Aurors. At times, she felt like everyone went through a ‘oh hey Aurors are so cool’ phase. Maybe this was her phase? Then again maybe she’d discover she didn’t like DADA as much as she currently thought? It wasn’t, after all, as if she was going to be married to that career, yeah? “Transfiguration feels like it has more options… like becoming an Animagus sounds fun…” “If you could choose animal to be your Animagus form, what would you choose?” |
Quote:
Yeah, it did seem that way. That there were more options in one field over the other. Though given DADA and transfiguration weren’t HIS strengths and where he might see himself, Rajesh could only offer so much thoughts on the matter. “It could have its perks.” What animangus form would he take? That was a loaded question that could have many answers depending on the day. What creature did he best relate to or best represented him? “Well I suppose something that flies,” he finally answered. They had an extra level of freedom up in the air and the dragons and hippogriffs he had grown up with certainly enjoyed it. "Maybe an owl or something similar." |
Quote:
She nodded at his succinct and diplomatic answer. He was right. It could have its perks. Lisa continued to wait for Raj’s answer even when another student asked to get past her. She moved to the side and looked back to Raj with curious eyes. Flies? Huh. That’d be helpful. You would have not only a superior mode of transportation but also get to enjoy the views. She personally (due to her terror of heights) wouldn’t have chosen such a flying creature but did find it interesting. Lisa did like owls however. They were so cute as babies! “Do you like flying?” |
Quote:
As for flying… “I do,” he answered with a smile at the thought Whether it was on a broom as introduced by one father or on a hippogriff with his other parent. He hadn’t had much time for it last term trying to be studious and properly prepared for his OWLs, but hopefully that would improve for the current term. "It's very freeing and relaxing." At least to him he supposed. |
Max wants to find a quiet place to read. It’s open if you want Luckily for Max, there wasn’t much students in the library. Trying not to listen in, Max was on a mission to find a book about a sprcific subject. Potions specifically Felix Felicis. He walked down the many rows of books carefully browsing the titles. Did he think it was morally wrong? Not exactly. It depended on your will and intent behind it. Say you were trying to help a friend prove their inoscence in an argument? Maybe a bit of luck would help? |
Max (the librarian is on duty!) Quote:
As he entered the front desk area, he glanced around and at first only saw a few students who seemed deep in conversation with each other, but in no need of help. Tapio did not believe in the old fashioned methods of librarianship that forbid any talk in the library, so he did not concern himself with them further. But back in the stacks, he thought he heard the sound of footsteps walking up and down--surely the sound of someone searching for something. Walking along the ends of the aisles, he finally saw a young Slytherin student and walked down to where he was looking. "Finding everything you need? or could I help you with something?" Tapio asked in his best attempt at an indoor voice. |
SPOILER!!: Librarian Max turned around to the sourse of the voice. He nodded a bit at the librarian. “I was wondering where a book about potions would be?” Of course there were dozens of books on the subject. He wondered if he could narrow the search or would it just be general information? “Em…specifically Felix Felicis”. He scratched the back of his beck. Yeah. Max was never good at asking for help. |
Tapio raised his eyebrows and stood still a moment, a little taken aback. This was not at all the sort of question he had been expecting and he had to think a minute about how to answer it. "Um, well, that's rather an advanced potion for younger students to be making, you know--that's usually not dealt with until you get into N.E.W.T. level potions making. And it can be very dangerous if not brewed correctly, or if you use too much or too often. What exactly did you want to find out about it?" And does Professor Hernandez know about this? Tapio thought to himself--if not, he certainly would hear about it shortly. |
I was looking at the potions thread, didn't see if it was ic age specific or not. Quote:
"I'm not exactly sure," Max answered. "I don't plan on brewing it, merely curious. See, Professor Hernandez gave us homework. He said to write something about where you would stand in using it." Okay so with this explanation it wasn't exactly what he was asking. Max didn't know the potion existed and wanted to learn more. He sighed. "I just want to know more," he said. Not entirely sure if spitting out his questions of why was it invented if you can't just use a jinx or when it was invented or discovered would be appropriate. If he kept rambling, he may never stop. |
Quote:
"This book discusses the pros and cons of using a number of the more controversial potions, including Felix Felicis, and it might help you to sort out your thoughts on the matter." Tapio looked at Max expectantly, hoping this might be the sort of thing he was looking for. |
SPOILER!!: librarian Max nodded and took the book in his hands. He noticed the brightness of the word "Ethics" "Yes, I think this would be the right book," He said. He absentmindedly flipped through the book for a second, wondering what order it was in, if any. |

Max nodded. He walked over to one of the tables and started looking through the book. Of course he was unphased by the moving pictures cos magic. A few minutes later, he realized, he had been starting to read the book and he was on third chapter. Whoops. Um... But the library was also meant for reading. It's okay. You don't have class right now, go ahead. Maybe it was a good thing he didn't answer himself outloud... |
