 A maze of thousands upon thousands of books, the library is heaven to any book-lover. Upon entering the high-ceilinged room, the smell of books, both ancient and new, hits you. There are many tall, narrow shelves neatly lined up, each divided into different sections -- charms, potions, Muggles, fiction, and so on. If you find a book you're interested in, simply make use of the sliding ladder or summon the book with Accio to retrieve it.
But the library just isn't a labyrinth of books. In the heart of the library and on the outskirts of it are tables and seating areas designated for quiet research and reading, some with accompanying fireplaces or large stained glass windows. Tucked away in the very back of the library is the Restricted Section, which requires a key that the librarian keeps on her person at all times and permission to enter because of the more mature titles and content that are tightly locked and chained within. At the entrance stands the front desk where the school librarian can usually be found, who will happily recommend a book, check out a book for you, and help you with any of your library needs.

Finn had come to the library to do an essay they'd been assigned for homework, but he'd gotten up to find a book and never sat back down. His red hair stood up almost completely vertically, thanks to the many times he'd run his hands through it in the last ten minutes. He stood, looking down at his table and the book he'd opened on it. His lips moved slowly as he read and re-read the page, trying to retain any of the information it contained.
Periodically, he gave himself a confident nod and turned the page, only to turn the page back again when he realized he'd already forgotten what was on the page. Something about...something? |

Already in the library herself, Mitsuki had settled herself upon a random spot on the floor. There was seemingly no rhyme nor reason as to how she selected where she deposited herself, but it was a true rarity indeed for her to be seen in a chair or on any of the couches found here. Herself situated in the middle, she had placed two textbooks behind her at a diagonal where her body seemed to form the top of a pyramid. Two more textbooks lay in front of her, likewise seeming to form a sort of triangle with her only this one obtuse. One final textbook currently hovered in the air, guided by her own wand as she hummed softly to herself. Mitsuki guided it forward, intending for it to be the final point to her studious arrangement and it forming a straight line from its placement to her. The only kink in the whole arrangement was that he just so happened to be right in the zone she wished to place her Transfiguration textbook.
Alas.
Tilting her head, she elected to proceed and gingerly lowered the book to the top of his head where she then set it with a Fixate. It would be better if it were lower, but she could not very well force the book through his person. At least not without the library becoming a little messy.

He looked around again, this time turning his whole body so he could see behind him.
It was her--the girl from the joke shop.
He frowned at her, taking in the unusual arrangement of textbooks but otherwise not thinking much of her sitting on the floor. It had to be her, right? She'd set the flat thing with corners on his head? Wait. Flat...corners...they were in a library... he remembered her name. "Mitsuki?" he whispered as loudly as he could with it still being a whisper. "Why is there a book on my head?" | |

Max found himself on the fiurth floor. It was already his second year and he still had a hard time finding everything. Considering how large this cstle was, it was no surprise. He eventually found the livrary which meant, hopefully, a quiet place to read.

She, of course, recognized him - though she did still need to walk through her rather convoluted thought process of red hair but different red hair from Rhett and no association with portraits red hair to eventually come to the conclusion that it was the red hair of Finn and the red hair of mild association with Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. Which, unfortunately, now had the association of Finn Weasley and it was a notion that had cemented itself in her mind.
She nearly offered a smile, though rather than a smile it was more of a relaxed look and a lukewarm twinkle to her dark eyes. Content, was the aesthetic.
"Because I charmed it to levitate over and be there," she answered easily.
If they had been joined by one of their peers, a Slytherin boy, she was unaware seeing as Finn Weasley had her attention at the moment and she needed to focus so that the book stayed in place. Eye contact, not blinking, were important in spellcasting, of course.

Momentarily distracted by the arrival of a Slytherin boy (Max), Finn waved at him. Then, he reached up and grabbed ahold of the book, intending to take if off his head, because he didn't particularly want a hat right now.
Maybe some other time.
He smiled in confusion back at Mitsuki. Her answer was obvious, and while technically what he had asked, it wasn't what he really wanted to know. "Yes, you charmed it, but why?" he whispered loudly at her. Was she trying to determine which objects made good hats? That was the only reason he could think of. | |

The movement of Finn's hand briefly captured Mitsuki's attention and she finally noticed the other boy as well...though it seemed a fruitless acknowledgement as the Slytherin soon meandered elsewhere without another word.
It was the why questions that got a little complicated sometimes, though that was not entirely the case this time. She was also quite accustomed to 'why' questions - anyone who had met the youngest of the Rasting triplets could attest to that. "Because it needed to be done. It is the most conductive."
No hats. At least not today.

Finn watched distractedly as the other boy wandered away, then returned his attention to the book--now in his hands, instead of on his head--and Mitsuki.
Conductive? What a word.
He frowned at her, tapping his knuckles gently on the cover of the book. "Conductive? Like electricity?" Was she trying to make him a lightning rod? Because that wasn't how people treated their friends, at least not where he came from. "Why do you want me to be conductive?" Another why question, but they were going to continue coming until he really, truly understood what she was talking about. And she really was probably going to have to explain it to him like he was a toddler. | |

Shakes her head easily, not at all registering that he may in the most miniscule of ways be a little offended by her phrasing and motivations. She did catch that he was confused but he was doing all the right things to remedy that. Asking questions, that is. "No and yes," she replied, both shaking her head and nodding, so in a way her head was really just casually rolling in circles. "I do not want you do be conductive. I want the space to be." And he had ruined that by breaking the sigil she was creating with the books marking important points. He was lucky he had not yet managed to curse himself.
Yet.
"The flow of the air is all wrong."
