Default Library

A maze of thousands upon thousands of books, the library is heaven to any book-lover. Upon entering the high-ceilinged room, the smell of books, both ancient and new, hits you. There are many tall, narrow shelves neatly lined up, each divided into different sections -- charms, potions, Muggles, fiction, and so on. If you find a book you're interested in, simply make use of the sliding ladder or summon the book with Accio to retrieve it.

But the library just isn't a labyrinth of books. In the heart of the library and on the outskirts of it are tables and seating areas designated for quiet research and reading, some with accompanying fireplaces or large stained glass windows. Tucked away in the very back of the library is the Restricted Section, which requires a key that the librarian keeps on his person at all times and permission to enter because of the more mature titles and content that are tightly locked and chained within. At the entrance stands the front desk where the school librarian can usually be found, who will happily recommend a book, check out a book for you, and help you with any of your library needs.

OOC: Please do not play for the Librarian: Bazinga.

But she had glasses now, and people with glasses were supposed to like reading.

Plus, Kinsay James had suggested she was just trying to read the wrong sorts of books, so...maybe she could try some more books about Quidditch. Quidditch Through The Ages had been somewhat boring but...maybe if she found something more exciting about Quidditch, it would be interesting.

Oh, was that Ash?

Immediately distracted from the Quest for Quidditch Books™, Mamie headed toward her friend and seated herself across from the Ravenclaw. "Hi!" she said, before realizing maybe she was supposed to be quiet here? More quietly, she leaned in and whispered, "What are you drawing?"
Ash was really liking how this artwork was coming along. A little bit more shading, redrawing a couple lines, messing with different shades of gray... She was in the middle of deciding that the girl should have no shadow, when suddenly... Mamie! Ash smiled a little more.

She didn't quite want to look up from her artwork, but it was Mamie. So she did. Because Mamie was one of her best wizarding world friends. And if Ash had to pick between art and talking to Mamie, she would talk to Mamie. Of course she would.

"Hey Mamie!" Were they whispering? Okay. Ash didn't really care for rules, but Mamie was doing it, so she might as well whisper too. "I'm trying to make art that will make people think." Her face scrunched together, like she was thinking really hard. "... I don't remember the word for that." Whatever. It wasn't the end of the world. She relaxed her face again. "I'm the girl in the middle, but it could also be someone else." She passed the art over. "And then the shadows are things that are stressful and overwhelming. And then there's one exit from the shadows, but I'm not looking at it. I'm looking in the mirror instead." A mirror that reflected nothing but the shadows.

Yes. Ash was proud of the art. She smiled again. "It makes sense to me anyway."

Art to... to make people think? Mamie didn't like that idea. Art was supposed to be fun and lovely, not...thinking. Still, she tried to keep an open mind when Ash passed the drawing over. She looked at the things Ash pointed out, and felt her stomach flip-flop at the reminder of Rosier. Was Ash still stressed about Rosier? The bad man was dead, after all.

She looked at some of the other stressing things, frowning at the names above some of the shadowy people. And the speech bubbles... the speech bubbles weren't surprising. She knew some of the things people said about her friend. She tapped her foot rapidly under the table. She was supposed to say something nice about Ash's art, right? Well... Margaret didn't like it that much. It made her think, sure, but about things she absolutely did not want to think about. And it was confusing, like...why were Upstead and Cambridge's names on there? But she didn't know any technical art words, so she couldn't compliment her friend's skill, either.

But she couldn't tell her she hated it, not when Ash had shown it to her. It felt like reading someone's diary and saying, no I don't like it, your thoughts are bad, or something. And that wasn't right.

So...Margaret kept her mouth shut, and passed the drawing back over.

Ash wasn't even looking at Mamie, not at the moment anyway. But she had known the girl for three years, and she knew that Mamie got quiet when she was uncomfortable or scared. So after the silence had stretched on for a while, she DID look up. "You don't like it," she said thoughtfully. It was a question, but it also wasn't. Kinda an... invitation? For elaboration?

Ash didn't really care if anyone else liked it or not. Objectively, it was well done. And also... the art wasn't exactly meant to be liked. Maybe the goal was to make people uncomfortable. If every wizard in the world hated the piece, then it would probably be a success. That was how it worked. Because if it made people uncomfortable, they had to think about it. They had to think about what made them uncomfortable about it. Which was the point.

Anyway, Mamie still wasn't talking, which meant that she was definitely worried, uncomfortable, or guilty. Or something else like that. It was up to Ash to figure out which one.

"No," Margaret confirmed after the briefest pause in which she almost considered lying. Was...was that mean? She looked over at Ash, pursing her lips and nibbling on the inside of her cheek. "I don't like... it makes me think too much. About bad things," she added, thinking mostly of the Rosier bubble.

She didn't think Ash had thin skin or anything, but...she still didn't like emotionally stomping all over her best friend's artwork. Mostly because she wouldn't like it, if Ash was saying she didn't like the way she flew or something.

Ash would never say that, though.

Still, she was...confused? Concerned? She was not quite sure how she felt about the artwork, that was meant to make her think. Couldn't art just be happy? No thinking. And she did not particularly like that Emmerson and Nemesis's names were alongside Rosier's. She knew Ash didn't like them, but... they weren't evil. "Why's Cambridge on here?" she finally asked. Their fellow third year...if Ash really hated the Gryffindor, that was going to be annoying for years. Upstead was at least graduating soon.

"Mmm. That's interesting. I think that means it worked." Really, one would expect Ash to get upset with every little thing, but it was Mamie. It was hard for Ash to be mad at Mamie. Even if she hated her art, Ash didn't care. The art was good. Mamie was her friend. She could let this go...

Why did she think Cambridge was on there? Margaret stared at her friend. She knew Ash and Emmerson didn't get along, and that the Gryffindor had said...and done... some not-nice things last term... and the one before... But they were teenagers now. They were mature! And people changed! Emmerson was actually occasionally nice, when given a chance, in Margaret's opinion.

"Is it because she called you the M word last year?" Really. If that was it, Margaret thought Ash just needed to move on. Even she had used the M word last year, trying to get herself less disliked by Rosier. It obviously hadn't worked.

“...yes.” Duh. Obviously. To be honest, Emmerson wasn’t that bad. Other than that incident and her personality. If she had never said that, Ash would have hated Cambridge a lot less. But she had said it. So.

“Every time I see her I think that Rosier could have been right around the corner. It’s stressful. So that’s why Cambridge is there.” It was a combination of the pain Ash had received from Cambridge and the fear of death that she felt at that moment.

So Mamie did know. That satisfied Ash, mostly.

Dahlia couldn't quite recall what time she had walked into the library much early that day but several hours had long past. Many more then the twelve year old had planned to spend there as lunch had been missed and it was now well into the afternoon. It was a really good thing it was a Saturday.

It had started off with just finishing her class assignments. Then she had moved on to some of her own research she had been working on. Her special book had been taken out, notes scattered across one of the tables in the very back of the library. Lines scribbled out and then re-written once she was sure everything was perfect. Much older parchments with very different handwriting that clearly wasn't hers laid near her own, other notebooks and textbooks too as well as whatever other books she thought might be useful from the library shelves.

Lia shifted in her chair, covering her mouth as she yawned. "M' not tired.. you're tired.." she mumbled to her current company Sir Frederik (pink pygmy puff) who just so happened to be sat what appeared to a sketched map Hogwarts. The words had barely fell from her lips before head feel forward to rest upon the book she had been writing in.. and the still slightly wet purple ink that was now smeared not only across the page but her cheek.

Well, if that's all it was, was the M-word. A whole year ago. Margaret thought that was a bit petty, to continue holding it against Emmerson. This, coming from the girl who held a grudge against Morgan McCarthy for a Muggle Studies game. Emmerson had clearly learned and grown, she was relatively nice now. "You should give her another chance," she said quietly.

"Can we talk about something different?" she asked abruptly. Thinking about last year... was really not something she was interested in. Being in the library was bad enough, and now adding on top of it remembering the bad times. "Have you heard from Theodore lately?" Now that she had a boyfriend of her own, Margaret could understand why Ash liked talking about hers. And it was a good way to change the subject.

To something haaaappy. Being happy was better than being sad.

How did we get here?

One time, Ash had fallen off her surfboard when the waves were rough. She had been tossed around, and she lost control of the board. And the board slammed into her stomach.

Ash felt the same way right now.

One time, Ash had gotten hit in the head pretty hard, and she felt all dizzy for a while.

Ash felt the same way right now.

Only this time, there was no injury that she had. Only an injury to her soul. It hurt worse than any bruise, than any injury she'd ever felt.

"Another chance to what, Mamie? Another chance to kill me?" The 'what' was a sharp word. It was as if Mamie had emotionally punched her, and Ash was returning the punch.

Oooh, Mamie did not just try to change the subject. Oh no she did not. Ash did not even bother to tell her about Theodore. She loved him, and they were not bringing his name into this conversation. How DARE she say 'give Emmerson another chance' and then bring up one of the muggles that Ash loved the most. Oh no she did not just do that. Except for she did.

"You know, I don't think I will give her a second chance. You know what could have happened, Mamie, if Rosier was nearby? I could have been tortured. I could have been killed."

Ash had never wanted to punch somebody more, and yet she abstained. She couldn't hurt Mamie. She just couldn't.

"Mamie, I've said that nobody cares about me so many times. You wouldn't even know. But I have never believed it more than I do right now."

And Ash would not hurt Mamie. She would not break down in front of Mamie. She would not crumple to the ground, or throw things, or call Mamie mean names. All she would do was stare. Stare across the table with her empty-looking eyes. Her deep brown eyes. Full of hurt. Full of betrayal. For once, full of surprise. Full of memories.

Ash felt like she was a fragile glass sculpture, and Mamie was crushing her into a million pieces.

But she couldn't even respond.

For once in her life, Ash had nothing she wanted to say. Or do. She just wanted to cry into someone else's shoulder. And there was nobody there.

Her friends had always been there for her. Even last year. And now they weren't.

Ash didn't know what to do. She just felt so helpless and hopeless and alone.

One tear slid down her cheek. And another. And another.

And she still did not say anything.

The silent tears just kept coming. Continuing on and on, making the word blurry and confusing.

And the tears continued, dripping down her shirt and onto her art and the floor and the table and everywhere.

Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE!

Margaret was very confused. How could Emmerson hurt Ashley? It was just a word. Rosier was dead. "But he wasn't, and you weren't, and Rosier is the one who's dead, Ash," Margaret argued quietly, looking down again, avoiding that eye contact. "Emmerson is nice, she wouldn't try to kill anyone." Promise.

That hurt, though.

THe accusation that she was now in that group of people who didn't care. Of course she cared!! She wouldn't be telling her she didn't like her art if she didn't care!! She would have walked right on by her best friend, sitting at this library table, if she didn't care. But who had stopped? And critiqued the art? MARGARET HAD. She scrunched up her fists and her face, not sure how to react or even process Ashley's rejection.

"I care."

She turned to storm off, as thirteen-year-old girls are apt to do, but when she looked back Ashley was...crying? That...yeah, those were tears. She stared at her friend for a moment, not sure what to do, then crossed around to the other side of the table and wrapped her arms around the other girl.

"Ash..." she muttered, scrunching her nose up to keep her glasses on her face while she tried to squeeze the sadness out of her friend.

"Ash..." she muttered, scrunching her nose up to keep her glasses on her face while she tried to squeeze the sadness out of her friend.
Ash was like... she was like... like... a paper towel that had absorbed a lot of water. Held in all the tears. And now Mamie was squeezing the paper towel. And all the tears were coming back out.

"Just because I didn't... die... doesn't mean... that nobody tried. And trying to kill someone is still wrong, and she hasn't apologized, and she's not going to, and I don't want an apology and I just- I just want to be left alone and never have to talk to her again."

The tears weren't stopping. This paper towel analogy wasn't working, unless the paper towel could hold infinite amounts of tears.

Everything on her side of the table had tears on it now, everything from her neck to the floor to her precious artwork. And now Mamie was giving her a hug, but it wasn't a real hug, because Mamie didn't care about her and she never would. And now Mamie had tears on her too.

Hugging didn't fix everything.

Did Mamie really want to know about Theodore? Fine. "Theodore said that if someone is hurting you they aren't your friend." And he had no idea how much that applied to her, but she was right. And Quinn had said it to her.

It didn't matter if Mamie cared about her, she was caring about her wrong. Having caring friends wasn't supposed to feel like this.

"I don't want to-" Ash didn't even bother to finish the sentence.

She pulled away from the hug that she had ended up in. She didn't want to hug Mamie anymore. The table wasn't hurting her, so she put her head down on the table instead to cry on there.

Except for, she had done it way too hard and now the table HAD hurt her. Her nose kinda really hurt now. She thought there might be a good amount of blood mixed in with the tears on her artwork. It was almost ruined now. Of course it was.

Figured.

Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE!

Maybe she needed to try that trick her babulya always tried, where you give a crying person a cup of water, and then they stop crying because you can't cry and drink water. Only she didn't have a cup of water.

And why was Ash so stuck on this Emmerson trying to kill her nonsense? There was no way someone as smart as Ashley Fox could seriously think Emmerson had tried to kill her. But based on the tears, Ash couldn't be argued with anymore.

And, and now she wanted to talk about Theodore???

Crying was one thing, but rejecting her hug?? FINE. FINE. "FINE," Margaret snapped, trying to wipe some of the tears off her clothes. She stared at the back of Ash's head on the table for a moment, then stormed off.

Good riddance, library.

Mamie was leaving. Mamie was leaving. And Ash could have said something mean on her way out, but she didn’t feel like it. She didn’t even want to scream or fight anyone. Ash normally responded to this type of stuff with aggression, not misery. Maybe she should have been aggressive instead of sad. Maybe then she’d still have her friends. But you know what? She didn’t need Mamie anyway(arguable). She had other friends.

She couldn’t really convince herself that was true though, so she didn’t even wanna go to them. Her next stop would be the hospital wing, and then the common room. She needed to get her nose checked out after she accidentally slammed it into a table, and then she was gonna go to bed. It wasn’t even bedtime and it might have been a school day... but it didn’t matter. Clearly today was just going to be terrible, and Ash wanted to sleep through the rest of it.

Ash got to her feet, but she was all wobbly and could hardly see straight. Normally she would blame that on a head injury, but this time, Ash was pretty sure it was because she was crying so hard. She wiped her bloody nose on her sleeve. Ugh, she’d have to wash it. She tried to wipe her tears off too, but they just kept coming. No point.

Ash turned to leave, but at the last second picked up her art. It was absolutely ruined by now. She’d still keep it. She left the library, trying to make herself think that she’d be better off without Mamie. It didn’t really work.

All she could think about was how Mamie had betrayed her and she hadn’t seen it coming. She hadn’t seen it coming at all.

Why was Ingrid in the library? Why? Really? She wasn’t even sure herself but as of late, she’d been spending less and less time in the place despite actually feeling at home there surrounded by the large tomes. Wandering through the shelves with her hands stretched out with her fingers brushing across the books, Ingrid strolled leisurely without a care in the world.

Part of her wondering if spending more time with Benjee was rubbing off on her. He certainly didn’t spend much time studying and she…well she’d been spending less and less as of late. Putting that thought out of her mind, she stopped and perused a few of the books for a moment before picking one at random. It wasn’t a particularly interesting subject to her but who was she to judge a book by its cover?

Speaking of judging books by their cover, there was a Ravenclaw there wearing a book cover…and a load of purple ink. It honestly looked kind of good. You know, in an artistic sort of way. Kind of. It just needed finishing. A little. Possibly. And she was just the artistic person for the job.

Taking the quill on the table, Ingrid lightly scooted the head of Dahlia from one side to the other and began to copy the pattern onto her other cheek too. Was it perfect? I wasn’t bad. Well, it wasn’t finished yet but still. In fact, the pattern or smudge would have kind of looked pretty on a dress. Inspiration can truly strike anywhere it seemed.

Remy had spent the last few days really slacking off with her schoolwork. She was ready for the term to be over, she was tired, and she was fed up of being a first year. The fun started in second year, everyone knew that. Remy was looking for a specific divination book, mostly because she was terrible at that class, but also she had been having dreams that she wanted to explore. She couldn’t find it on the lower shelves of the bookcase, so she braved the ladder as much as she could.

She WANTED to use this time to practise the summoning charm, but this probably wasn’t the best place for that, a quiet library and all, but it really would’ve been perfect. So instead, Remy hung off the ladder, too scared to step any higher but the book she wanted was just a little out of reach. The Gryffindor tugged at the book, and knocked down about three onto the ground with a THUD.

Well, at least it wasn’t her that was thudding to the ground. Remy sighed and took a moment to contemplate life at the top of the ladder.

Both Dahlia and Sir Frederik Puffington were asleep. Neither aware of Ingrid's presence or her artistic smudge pattern drawing upon the sleeping Lia's face. Each were lost in their own slumber dreamland. The purple pygmy puff dreaming about whatever it is that pygmy puffs tend to dream of. The young Claw.. well that was another story..

Higher and higher AND HIGHER...

She kept climbing the stairs that seemed to go on forever and led to nowhere. There was nothing on either side of the stairs and all she could see was steps below and steps above. It was silent, there was no breeze or music or anything. Only never-ending stairs. No matter what she did she just kept climbing, it was like she knew she had to reach the top. There was something great at the top, she could feel it.

And so she continued to climb the steps. All the way to the very top overlooking nothing. Standing there and staring down all she could see was blue. Clear blue like the sky on a beautiful spring day. Where was she supposed to go now? Was she meant to walk ALL the way back down the stairs? Looking over her shoulder, she saw that the stairs were gone and she was standing on what was meant to be the last step and it was floating there in the air. Where was she supposed to go now? What was she supposed to do?

Out of seemingly nowhere at all a quill with a bright purple feather appeared floating in the air right in front of her. Grabbing it, Lia stared at for a moment and then began to draw a large rectangle in front of herself. Hesitantly she lifted her foot and moved it over the area she had just drawn, tapped the top of her sneaker against the top line. Her sneaker didn't go through it! It was solid!

Jumping onto the rectangle, she continued to draw different things. A butterfly that flew around on its own. A flower, a small tree, a little stream with some fish in it that swam around. A bench to sit on. The list went on and on until suddenly then quill wouldn't work for anymore.

Dahlia shook the feathered quill, turned it upside and inspected it to see if something was wrong with it. She didn't understand what had happened. Purple ink was still dripping from it. It was as if someone else had power of it now and it now longer belonged to her. But how? Why? Who?

When Lia woke it was with a start, to the sound of a THUD from books falling to the floor and not from having her face drawn on. Her blue eyes did however meet Ingrid's in clear confusion as she noticed the quill in her hand. If she didn't have smudged ink on her cheeks it might have been more noticeable that she was blushing in embarrassment. This was NOT the first time someone had found her asleep recently.

"What are you doing?" she asked quietly, nodding at the quill in Ingrid's hand. "And did you hear THAT?" That being the really loud THUD of those falling books. Where had it come from cause she didn't see anything from where she was sitting at this table.

V rarely went to the library. She rare did homework, actually, because she was too nervous she would be bad at it. But then, now EVERYTHING had backed up, and she was behind and and and and -

deep breaths, V.

She had to do SOMETHING to salvage her grades. So here she was, trying to save the wreckage of her Charms grade. And every other class, almost. She was seated at a study table, daydreaming about being outside instead of the dust library, when she heard the ENORMOUS THUD. She looked up and saw Remy.

And V didn't know, still, how she felt about Remy. She was more Lisa's friend than hers, and she often felt like she was catching Remy doing something NOT friendly toward herself. So she was waiting to pass judgment, really. "Here, I got it - " she said quickly as she jumped up, almost as if she were READY for a distraction from homework. She snagged the book off the ground and stood on her tippy toes to try to hand it back to the other first year. "Unless this is the book you want."

She had spent a long time lingering at the top of the ladder, even forgetting which book she was looking for a short moment. Sighing again, Remy took one step down to then notice a familiar face handing the book to her. It was V. You know, Remy still had no idea what her full name was. In fact, had V and Remy ever hung out together just the two of them? They were more… friends of friends, but Remy was up for changing that into something more exclusive.

Oh, thank you.” She took the book and examined it. “UGH.” It wasn’t even the right one after all of that. Remy had no interest in looking again so she stepped down and jumped off the last two steps. “I’ve spent ages looking but it doesn’t really matter.” The first year shrugged, and FINALLY smiled.

Hi. Wanna find somewhere to sit?” Remy glanced at the book that V handed to her. A book about dragons. Maybe she was in the wrong section.

With the quill moving lightly across Dahlia’s face, Ingrid smiled as the girl frowned in her sleep. Her dreams must have been really interesting. The pattern was almost perfect and simply required the smallest amount of…when the falling of books in the background startled Dahlia. “Me? Uh… I’m just trying to wake you up. You feel asleep and I heard something. Did you hear that?” Yes. That was what she needed to do. Blame the falling of the books in the background.

With a small, inward sigh, Ingrid dropped the quill back down on the table and flashed a helpful smile that was slightly tinged with pink and turned around to where the sound came from. “You want to go and check it out?” or was that too much to ask seeing as she had a surprisingly detailed pattern doodled across half of her face and a massive smudge on the other half?

Between only just waking up, the 'thud' that had waken her up, her strange dream and Ingrid standing over her with a pen in her hand, Lia was confused. Very much so. Obviously she had heard THAT because she had just asked the older girl if SHE had heard it. "Yes, I heard it," she nodded her head. There was noway she could have missed it.

As for her trying to wake her up. Well that was plausible. "With my quill? Why would you need that to wake me up?" Who needs a quill to wake someone up? That was the part she didn't understand. Unless Ingrid had wanted to borrow her quill but then why hadn't she just said that in the first place?

With a small yawn that she covered with her hand and then a good stretch to really help wake her up, the second year sat up straighter in her chair. Picking up the quill that Ingrid had recently put down and grabbing up her dream journal she quickly flipped it up to a clean page and added the days date to the top corner. She then started to draw a quick little sketch of her dream including herself climbing the stairs and then the feathered quill and the little drawings she had made.

"Might as well." That was the only way to find out the source of the noise that had woken her. Quickly jotting down a few lines of writing underneath the sketch, Lia closed her dream journal and slipped the book and quill into her bag before getting to feet.

Based on Remy's reaction, V gathered it wasn't the right book. "Are you sure? We can look. I haven't been on the ladder before...I could look?" she asked gently. But it seemed Remy just wanted to go sit. That was fine with V, too.

"The desks are over this way!" V hop!skipped a little in the right direction, facing Remy so she was technically skipping BACKWARDS. It seemed VEEEEEERY unlikely she would run into anyone - she had no clue Ingrid and Lia were heading in their direction - since she thought they were the only two students in here right now!

"OOOOH! Dragons!" she exclaimed, catching sight of Remy's book! Probably muuuuuch too loud for the library, too.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

The library was always Claudine’s chosen place for peace, quiet and alone time when there was a mountain of homework to be done. Today happened to be one such day that mountain had piled up. The reason this happened was because she had been dedicating a fair amount of her time to practicing nonverbal spells.

With one particularly long Charms essay written and her Potions homework three quarters of a way completed, the Snakette began to yawn and soon enough, could not keep her eyes open. She propped an elbow on the desk and rested her cheek on her palm. Claudine figured if she laid her head on the desk, she’d take more than a five minute nap.

She dozed off about a minute later. All this studying, homework, essays, spell practice, caring for the Hogwarts creatures under Williamson’s watch was definitely tiring her out. Being a student was tough, did the professors know?

Anyway.

Claudine jerked out of her nap a short while later after her cheek started to slide off her palm. Rubbing her eyes, she tried to snag the remnants of her brief dream that happened to be escaping her memory. It was useless though. All she remembered was that she had been dreaming something about stargazing…

She supposed it should be written in her dream journal. It was just too bad the dream slipped away.

Remy shook her head, “Nah, I’m over studying now anyway.” She’d never enjoy someone else achieving something that she couldn’t. Anyway, there were much more exciting things to read about in the library, much more than just boring class textbooks. It reminded her that she needed to check out books about space… for reasons.

Following V’s skip towards the desks, Remy quietly mimicked her excitement about the dragon book and she flipped it open. “You’re being too loud.” Remy reminded V, trying the polite approach. She showed a picture of the dragon on the page - a Ukrainian Ironbelly. “Have you ever seen a dragon before?” Like, in real life?

Upon reaching the desks, Remy noticed a very familiar face and was suddenly very excited. TWINNY.” She shrieked at Dahlia, then shot V a defeated glance since she had literally JUST called her out for being loud in the library. “Oops.” As she got closer to Dahlia and another person who she didn’t recognise, Remy raised an eyebrow.

Why did she have drawings all over her face?

Are you practising pirate tattoos? We’re lost boys, remember?

Ingrid simply nodded, biting her bottom lip as Dahlia replied to her, still doing her best not to laugh because the last thing she needed was the librarian coming over to see what all of the commotion was about. “Okay. Good. Just checking.”

As for the quill…“Well, I don’t know if you know this but well, you fell asleep and half of your face was kind of on your parchment and well…the ink was still drying,” nodding a little now as it to point towards the part of her face it was on when in fact it was all over her face now. She was telling the truth though. It had been partly because of her face on the parchment. “It looked really cool though. A sort of pattern where you’d been leaning on there for so long so I figured I’d finish it off with your quill and well, you kind of have a face full on ink now. It looks really interesting actually but you might want get rid of it before anyone…” but just as she was about to finish her sentence, Ingrid’s head turned as she heard approaching footsteps and the loud shriek of twinny.

With a smile on her face, Ingrid greeted the two first years with a nod of her head. “I don’t know about lost boys but Dahlia was just letting me practice some of my designs on her face. I’m an aspiring artist you see and sometimes, it’s kind of fun and interesting to practice on different canvases,” her pleasant smile now back on Dahlia but her eyes imploring her to follow along if she didn’t want to look stupid. If she wanted to that is. If she didn’t, she was more than welcome to tell the truth too and say she fell asleep on a bit of old wet parchment or whatever it was. She simply didn’t want to embarrass the younger Ravenclaw. Adam would laugh so hard when she told him about this later. She just knew it.
