| | Quidditch Pitch If you follow a winding path from the Training Grounds, eventually you will arrive at the Quidditch pitch. The oval structure itself is a rather remarkable sight to see as it stands at five hundred feet long and a hundred and eighty feed wide. Because of the popularity of the sport, the pitch is used quite regularly. Here tryouts are held, in addition to scheduled team practices and a number of inter-House matches throughout the term. When the pitch isn't booked, it is available for general use from anyone who wants to casually fly around or play various broom games.
The maintenance on the pitch is of utmost importance. The three silver goalposts at each end of the pitch are regularly polished so they shine brightly in the sunlight, and the white markings outlining the exterior of the pitch as well as the middle are regularly painted. During the fall, spring, and summer months, a lawn mower has been charmed to cut the grass of the pitch mid-morning every three days just after the dew has dried. When it is winter, the mower is set aside and a magical snow blower is used to clear up as much of the pitch as possible. To keep the pitch in prime condition, all are asked to do their part as well by not littering or vandalizing it in any way; otherwise there will be consequences to face.
Anyone who wishes to use the Quidditch pitch is allowed do so, but it is expected that all rules regarding it are adhered to at all times and the curfew listed is followed. These rules can be found posted on the noticeboard at the entrance of the pitch. ooc: please do not play for the flying professor: PhoenixRising

| YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Quidditch Tryouts Term 70 The afternoon air was most perfect weather for flying and Jasmine couldn't have asked for better weather. Not a cloud in the sky, no rain, she made he way out early in the morning to prepare for the tryouts that afternoon. Instead of trying for specific positions, she was mostly eager to see how they fared with various obstacles and agility. While everyone had their preferred position, in Jasmine's mind there was something remarkable when players could step in as any position and each held its specific skill set, however at the very core of it, all positions were responsible for advanced flying skills. "Good afternoon and welcome. Whether this is your first quidditch tryout or your seventh, there shall be no horseplay. Now, I don't know how things were done before me, but my goal is to assess your flying abilities with various flying techniques. To do so, I've set up an obstacle course and throughout the obstacle course you'll need to be demonstrating at least three flying techniques. Advanced weaving, over under, sloth grip roll. Successful completion of the obstacle course would be dictated by your abilities to perform flying techniques.
Throughout the obstacle course, you'll experience receiving / throwing a quaffle. Avoid being hit by a quaffle using one of the flying techniques aforementioned. Speed is important, but so is accuracy. You're welcome to work with each other or alone." There are several rows of slalom agility poles hovering in the middle of the area. "So you'll need to demonstrate weaving through the agility poles, flying through both stationary and moving rings, some over and under bars." OOC: only one post required for tryouts, unless you'd like to complete more. Please title your post with the position your character prefers. Trying something slightly different for tryouts where instead of a specific position related exercises, they're more to demonstrate various flying techniques/maneuvers. Don't forget to fill out the questionnaire (unless you want to just RP just for the fun of it, without serious inclinations on playing on the house team). See this thread for any additional information. You have ten days
The course:
- Goes from one end of the quidditch pitch to the other
- Hoops (fly through one; some stationary, some move - feel free to pick whichever suits)
- Slalom poles (fly in and out of these)
- Over and under bars (a series of four bars - in which you have to catch the quaffle from flying under, flying over - and then toss it back to the bar behind you)
- Touch plate (touch the broom's tail twigs to the touch plate at completion of the course)

| We're not trying out for the Snake team ^_^ ~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes. Ary was no athlete. Not very much at least {if you counted his presence on the Slytherin Gobstones teams two years prior} but yes, here he was.
On the Quidditch pitch standing before Professor Springer, sandwiched between Jan and Bry.
And with one of the School’s broomsticks in hand because he hadn’t one of his own. Oh, it wasn’t that he couldn’t get the latest model for himself. It was just that he didn’t care to have one.
Anyway… why was he here if Ary did not care about Quidditch much less making it to his House team? To support his besties, of course! Up until now, the preceding terms saw him lending moral support from the Stands. This term, he figured he’d be a little more up close and personal. Now, the sixth year happened to be a decent flier thanks to help from said besties. This meant he could at least complete one or two flying techniques just for the fun of it. Probably he'd even be able to throw the Quaffle without trouble since his arms had gotten a hint stronger since he had started working out with Dad Adi and Bry.
Who knew what fun or chaos he'd experience on this impressive course. |

| Otter This World ♡ Catpurrccino ♡ Slotherin ♡ Pandamonium This blonde was in a FANTASTIC mood! The sky was bright and clear, the weather was fairly warm and she was once again trying out for her house team. Not to mention, right at her side was the boyfriend! Nothing was going to wipe the smile off of her face.
With her own broom in hand, the fingers of her free hand lightly brushed against the back of Ary's as she stood right at his side. The fact that he was going to be joining Jan and her in their 'tryouts' had her over the moon. Not to worry, her mind was fully on the task at hand. Showing her skill and that she was very much a team player. So as Professor Springer spoke about what was expected this afternoon, Bry nodded along. Complete the obstacle course. It sounded easy enough but.. she knew it wouldn't be easy. And that's why she was excited. A challenge was always what she looked for. "Ready guys?" Bright shining blue eyes turned to Ary and Jan. She was ready when they were.

Jan was feeling great today, with tryouts happening he made sure his broom was in tip-top shape the day before. So here he was, broom resting against his shoulder as he walked with it onto the field. His long hair was wrapped neatly under the bonnet and helmet. He greeted Professor Springer before awaiting the others to arrive. He was pleasantly surprised to see Ary here and not at the stands. So he gave him and Bry a nice hug (as best as he could with the broom in hand). It going to be like the fun summers all over again.
"Ready!" Jan said after mounting his broom. |

| Calliope Barringtion [Slytherin, Chaser] astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Calliope had flown in worse weather. Much worse. Snow flurries. Sleet. That one time someone summoned a swarm of tiny paper cranes mid-scrimmage and they all got caught in her hair. So the clear skies and gentle breeze today? Practically a gift from the Quidditch gods. Coincidence that there was no Professor Adara this term AND no insane snowstorm? Calliope wasn't saying there was, but she also wasn't not saying there was
This also didn't mean she was relaxed, though. Not by a long shot. She had a new professor she had to impress now on top of everything else.
Her jaw was tight as she stepped onto the pitch, her broom balanced against her shoulder now that she was a second year and that absurd rule about having to use school brooms out the window. Subjecting herself to this particular blend of stress and adrenaline was nonsensical, but it felt so good to want something. Also, somehow, flying was one of the only things in the world that didn’t feel like a performance... just movement and muscle memory and wind in her face. She nodded respectfully at the professor's instructions, fingers flexing around her broom handle as she surveyed the obstacle course and essentially ignored the presence of everyone else on the pitch.
No snow. No magical chaos. Just a clean track and a clear goal. Good.
Once given the go-ahead, Calliope pushed off from the grass in a smooth, practiced ascent, letting the ground fall away beneath her. Her braid streamed behind her as she leveled out and she quickly leaned forward into a burst of speed. The first segment (the hoops) came into view quickly, some hovering motionless, others bobbing unpredictably through the air. Calliope adjusted her grip, narrowed her eyes, and dove for the moving one on the left. It dipped. She banked. It jerked. She timed the movement and slipped through it with only the faintest whistle of wind in her ears. Two more in quick succession (stationary this time because they happened to be close by and because she could) and she twisted neatly through both, knees bent to absorb the shift in pressure. Each pass sent a thrill of accomplishment straight through her chest.
Next up: slalom poles.

| Elena Petrova: Gryffindor Seeker not throwing away my shot | Slytherpuff | roll for initiative | woof you ❤ Elena arrived on the quidditch pitch armed with a broom borrowed from Auntie Zinnia and the knowledge she'd gained from training with her over the summer. She had to admit that she was looking forward to trying out for her house's quidditch team. Though she didn't have specific experience playing quidditch on a team, she did miss group sport. She was used to dance class, and recitals and shows dancing together. Quidditch was a bit different, but it would definitely provide a sense of comradery. And she had had fun training over the summer.
She took to the skies and surveyed the course. It looked kind of fun. And not too difficult. Once she felt like she had an accurate lay of the land, she began with the first obstacle. There were several hoops to fly through. She swooped through the first few hoops. The next few were moving back and forth, and the ones after that were moving up and down. Elena paused for just a moment, then continued forward, flying through each of them with little trouble. |

| Ariel Scamander [Gryffindor, Chaser] Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch Ariel's heart was already pounding like a drumline before she even kicked off from the ground. The breeze on the Quidditch pitch was crisp and perfect, a playful gust ruffling her wild curls. Her fingers tightened around the handle of her broom, a slightly older model but one she trusted like an old friend. She couldn't stop the giddy grin stretching across her face. Regardless of whether or not she made the team, at least she'd get to have this moment to fly with the pretty Quidditch boys, which she may or may not have been eyeing up.
And then, when the instructions were over, she launched. After kicking off the ground, she rocketed forward like a comet. The world blurred for a heartbeat, the rush of wind teasing at her robes and roaring in her ears as she went from one end of the pitch to the other.
Her eyes locked onto the first obstacle: rings, some stationary and others shifting just slightly. Ariel swerved upward, weaving through the first stationary ring with ease. Boring.
She then rolled her body sideway and veered sharply toward one of the moving hoops. To make things interesting, the redhead twisted, rolling in a tight spiral, a corkscrew of motion that spun her right through the hoop's centre with just inches to spare—her signature Dizzy Dragon.
"Ha!" she whooped as she set her gaze on the next section of the course and tucked close to her broom.

| ~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes. Ary hooked his pinky briefly with Bry's, channeling silently some positive energy to her for the tryout. Not that she would need it; the girlfriend was a superb Quidditch player! Jan was too! As a matter of fact, his two friends here were the best and there was no changing this guy’s mind. So while he didn’t make a little romantic gesture like the one he had done with Bry, Ary hugged Jan back tightly. Lots of good energy for you too, Jan! “All set,’’ he happily told Bry. The sixth year was soon airbourne, even though he was slightly uncomfortable. That feeling would always be there; he’d rather be airbourne on a dragon or a hippogriff. He had been making his way towards the course but he hadn’t any intention to attempt anything just yet.
Or maybe he would attempt nothing at all.
Aryan turned, preceriously so for the manouevere he had just executed to do so was far, very far, from perfect. "WOAH!" His life almost flashed before his eyes but as fate was have it, it was not his day to depart from the broom in such a manner. Phew! "YOU GOT THIS, BRY AND JAN!"

| Teagan Kensington, Slytherin beater Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict She had been rather curious to find out how tryouts were going to be once she had seen that Professor Adara wasn’t at the staff table during the start-of-term speech, but Teagan hadn’t been too worried about it. She was used to improvising after all in other aspects of her life, and a slight smile had crept onto the petite brunette’s face as she’d walked onto the pitch to see the obstacle course set up.
Maybe things would be better than she thought, not that she’d really thought about it one way or another after the feast.
Hair pulled up into space buns for no reason other than she’d just felt like it, plus it would keep her hair from her eyes as she flew, she’d mounted her broom and kicked off without any questions as they were set loose, although she’d given her teammates from the previous term a smile. The course seemed pretty straightforward, after all.
Off to the hoops she went, spinning to the left to slip through the first hoop that tried to move out of her way before zipping through a second that was less troublesome just because it was between herself and the second part of the course.

| astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Calliope tilted her broom and began her approach of the slalom poles with a satisfied smirk tugging at one corner of her mouth...only to have it vanish the next second when a blur of red hair tore past her peripheral vision.
What in Circe’s name was th—?
A girl—no, a comet—had just executed a spiral so tight it looked like something out of a professional playbook, twisting through a moving hoop with reckless and breathtaking ease....causing Calliope’s breath snagged mid-laugh. She didn’t know the girl’s name, yet, but she knew one thing instantly and with her whole chest: that was her new rival. Which meant two things. One, she would not be outflown and two, she couldn’t stop watching this girl if she tried ― which meant she had stopped to gawk without realizing it. There was something in the girl’s effortless confidence, the way she enjoyed the flight, that had Calliope’s fingers tightening around her broom. Not envy exactly but something closer to awe. Fierce and delighted awe. Maybe a little flush that had nothing to do with their modest altitude. She made a note to find out the girl's name and accidentally end up flying beside her again.
The sound of someone cheering on others snapped her out of the haze and her focus sharpened as leaned forward to continue her approached of the slalom poles. Gripping the handle of her broom with renewed determination, the second year weaved tightly in and out of the poles with quick, practiced flicks of her broom’s tail. The course narrowed here, poles hovering at different heights and distances, and she leaned in, her braid whipping against her neck as she ducked one pole, soared over the next, then dipped into a hard s-curve. The rhythm of the mental math and instinct all clicked into place effortlessly, not thinking and just reacting.
Another familiar face caught her eye.
The Gryffindor girl — Elena, wasn’t it? The napping one from the corridor near the dungeons. Of course she’d fly like a dancer. That made sense. Her style was quieter than the fiery redhead’s, but it had a clean elegance to it — like she could leap into a pirouette at any moment mid-air. Calliope found herself smiling, surprised by how warm the recognition felt. It was oddly... grounding?
Also distracting and she gave her cheek a hard pat to wake herself up. Both hands on the handle again, she surged forward, slipping past the final slalom pole and leveling out for the over-under bars. Calliope narrowed her eyes, thoughts drifting to her fascinating rival-redhead somewhere in the sky nearby looking annoyingly good doing whatever it was she was doing as well as Elena’s perfect dancer posture gliding through the air like she’d pirouetted out of a painting...she couldn't just take to these bars safely and predictably. No way.
Calliope grinned and then dove.
The first bar came fast, a hair too low to duck under easily, so she snapped into a Sloth Grip Roll, flipping beneath her broom and flying upside down for a few heartbeats, her braid dangling toward the grass and robes fluttering above her as she passed under the bar with little space to spare. Still upside-down, she caught the quaffle tossed from the sideline one-handed. Her shoulder twinged a bit but it was totally worth it. With a sharp twist of her core and a tiny but mighty grunt, she snapped herself upright and kicked her broom into a vertical corkscrew climb. She tucked the quaffle tightly against herself as she spiraled upwards, popping above the second bar like she'd been launched by the sky itself, weightless for a second before gravity remembered her name and forced her to level out.
She shifted into a horizontal roll, flattening herself parallel to the broom’s shaft as she approached bar number three, then threw the quaffle backward through the bar behind her with a no-look over-the-shoulder toss with flawless aim, if she did say so herself.
And she did. Of course.

| JT Forsfelle [Slytherin, Chaser] Swedishfish Girl! Madame Librarian! Jess's Soul Sister! Sweetest Swede! JT entered the pitch, carrying his broom of choice close to his chest, being glad for the clear sky, and gentle breeze. He had a feeling that Professor Springer had chosen this day because she knew that the obstacle course would be difficult enoough for them all to master. JT also hoped that Calliope wasn't still angry with him so that she'd try to do something against him in the air.
After a respectful wave in greeting to Professor Springer once they were given the go ahead, JT mounted his broom, and kicked off the ground without effort aiming for the hoops first. The hoops varied some moving unpredicatably and some stationary he saw from afar as other peers tacled them. JT adjusted his grip on his broom, and pulled on his goggles to see better as he leaned forward over his broom, and with a burst of speed dove for the first hoop he thought was stationary as it was his turn. When he neared the first hoop it started to move, but JT was ready for that, and flew with a timed move through the hoop. Through the next two hoops he had to bank some and then dive and soar upwards as he passed through them in quick succession. One obstacle down, next up the slalom poles.
JT couldn't help, but notice a little distractedly in mid air that most of the fliers in the air were girls. He suddenly felt outnumbered, but that only made him more determined to impress his new flying instructor. She wouldn't just select girl's would she?
Shaking his head to focus on the next task JT flew down to begin weaving in and out of the slalom poles with calm, and practiced movements of his broom. Next up the course narrowed itself with poles now at different heights and distances. Blocking out the feeling of the wind in his hair or the cheers from the stands JT focused solely on the poles ducking the first, soaring up over the next, and then shifting his weight on his broom as he banked for the sharp, and hard s-curve before leveling out to take a quick breath before flying past the final pole.
JT stopped to hover in the air to take in the sight of the over, and under bars decidng how to best tackle them. He didn't want to get smacked in the face by a bar. Ready he leveled out, and then with a burst of speed he flew over the first bar grabbing the incoming quaffle with ease before tossing it back to the bar he had just passed. Next he slipped into a Sloth grip roll, dropping to hang upside-down below his broom for several heartbeats as he slipped under the second bar with some difficulty, but with good room to spare. JT caught the incoming quaffle one handedly still hanging upside down. He then with a burst of strength pulled himself upright again on his broom and thanking the quidditch gods in the same motion for not falling off his broom. JT really hated the sloth grip roll he managed to think before starting a steep vertical climb upwards toward the next bar throwing the quaffle over his left shoulder back to the second bar with if he had to grade it himself awesome presicion.
When he soared over bar number 3 JT was quickly forced to level himself out because of gravity, and a sudden gush of wind choking down on a whoop. He caught the next quaffle with some difficulty since he was preoccupied with choking. He tossed the quaffle back to the 3rd bar whilst steering his broom into a horizontal roll, flattening himself low over the broom catching a new quaffle mid-flight tugging it tightly against his chest as he passed under the fourth bar and final bar before tossing the quaffle back under the bar watching as it was caught by another flier.
JT then flew off to complete the course by touching his brooms tail twigs on the touchplate being glad for his successful tryout.

Jan smiled as Calliope and JT joined them on the pitch. The three worked excellently together from their win last year, and expected the same dynamic if they end up as the main chasers on the team again. After the pleasantries of smiles and wishing luck, he soon took off after Ary. At this stage of his playing, he had comfort in his flying skills, and this was more than just proving to others how good he is, he was more focused on improving himself. The weather was clear and in good condition so he was able to zoom in the direction of the hoops without trouble.
Of course, the challenge came from his choice on flying through the non-stationary hoops. One thing he learned from playing against others was not focusing on where they are now but where they will be. He saw a hoop moving up, it was going to go down eventually as he adjusted the speed to successfully fly through just as it lowered into the right position. Hoop one, down. The next hoop was stationary, so that was clear, and the one after that as well. However, the following hoop moved in a circular pattern. He calculated the current distance and adjusted his trajectory slightly to the right. He cleared the hoop, with only the top of his bonnet brushing against it, but it was not enough to obstruct him.
Jan could only smile at Ary cheering. He wondered if the stands were any different, as he briefly remembered the unofficial fan club he got last term. It was confusing but amusing nonetheless. But his focus just as briefly returned to the present. Calliope was already ahead at the slalom poles. Just then, he weaved in and out through the Slalom poles, JT passed the quaffle in his direction, but under him. So Jan, angling himself, performed the Sloth Grip Roll to catch it easily.
Now the bars, he wanted to do the D'Orazio Dive, but wondered if it would be cheating since he'd be jumping over the bars in the process? Well, he supposed just one time wouldn't hurt. So, he flew up after clearing under the first bar, as soon as he was over the second bar, he hopped off the broom to catch the next Quaffle, tossing it back as soon as he landed on the broom again and flew under the third bar, repeating the same motion as he flew over the final bar again. No bumped head in sight.
Now he just had to reach the touch plate, and he was good for the count. |

| Zephyr Amstern | Ravenclaw Seeker Baguette | there is no D in my name | TRAITORclaw | Queenie of Narnia The relief he felt that there wasn't going to be a magically created snowstorm for this tryout session was immense. Zephyr wouldn't have let it stop him if the storm environment had been a reoccurring thing, and of course it was super important to get used to flying in difficult weather since you never knew what might happen on game day. But it was still preferable to be able to play under clear skies like today.
And with an obstacle course? Lots of fun to be had!
Once the signal to begin was given, Zephyr mounted his broom and kicked himself into the air, rising quickly as he eyed the first obstacle. And tried not to get too distracted by the others zooming ahead to take on the course. He needed to be aware of everyone enough so that he didn't run into any of them, but not so aware that all he was doing was watching all the cool moves they were doing. And some of them were REAL cool from the glimpses he caught.
Zephyr raced forward through the nearest hoop - a stationary one - and then immediately dove to fly cleanly through the next one that had abruptly moved downwards.
Another hoop was coming up, and it suddenly moved to the right. He angled his broom that way, zooming through and onto a series of left-right-left-right group of moving hoops in a zig-zag pattern. He raced through them then turned upwards to glide through a final hoop.
Adrenaline and excitement running through him, he grinned as he headed for the next obstacle.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Aurora Bay Hufflepuff Fourth Year x12 x9
| Aurora Bay - Hufflepuff Chaser ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Honestly Aurora hadn't been too sure about trying out for the Quidditch team. She did like the sport, and had played as Chaser on the Beauxbatons team last term, but she hadn't been too sure about going for the team this year. What with her starting at a new school, she thought that maybe she should leave Quidditch for the moment and possibly try for the team next year.
However, after a talk with Emma here she was, making her way towards the Qidditch pitch. It looked like Bry and Ary were already there as well as some other students. She waved at them in greeting, but wasn't sure if they would see her. Rory knew that there was no way that Ary would be trying out for the Quidditch team, so he was definitely there to support Bry.
Once she was in place, she gave Professor Springer a friendly wave in greeting and then got herself ready to mount her broom.
Kicking off, she made her way over to the hoops to begin the course. Honestly the whole thing seemed rather simple and she felt like she would have no trouble in completing it.
As she approached the hoops, she saw some of them moving while others were stationary. She made her way over to one of the hoops and saw it move to the left. She changed course and zoomed right through it. Then she went through a couple of stationary hoops on her way to the next part of the course. |

| Emma Montmorency || Hufflepuff Seeker YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers One of the greatest things about quidditch tryouts was the opportunity to get to see quidditch players from other houses and how they maneuver around the quidditch pitch with the various tasks set forth by the Quidditch Official. She was grateful that the weather today was the most perfect of flying conditions instead of the manufactured snowstorm Professor Adara had brought upon the pitch last year. Made an even more opportune viewing arena. A bit surprised to see Aryan out here, she gave him an encouraging wave, as she mounted her broom. Pleased of course too that she'd been successful in convincing Aurora to be out here as well - although it didn't take too much convincing she'd played quidditch before. The flying moves that definitely caught her gaze however was that of the two gryffindor girls. It took her a minute after staring at the way the one effortlessly spiraled through the hoops for Emma to recover and realize she needed to get started with her own obstacle course. Breath, Emma. You didn't take several years of dance pre-Hogwarts for nothing. You've been playing for a few years yourself, you don't need some fancy maneuver, you got this. Although even as she told herself that, all she wanted to do that moment was ask for a lesson of that girl for that maneuver. Would she even help her, being an opponent? Surely it was good sportsmanship to teach what you know? But at the same time, would she help an opponent if she was adept in a signature move? Knowing that the opponent could potential use the move against her?
Thoughts of opposition and unique moves plaguing her, she set her mind to the hoops before her, concentrating, flying steadily and quickly though one and two and three, in quick succession as they moved, she barely made the third one, her broom twigs scraping the hoop edge but she had gone through.
Time for the slalom poles. Her seeker training was one that had given her the ability to fly up and down rather quickly, with a sense of urgency she managed to tackle those without too much grief.
It was the next part of the obstacle course that gave her uncertainty as well. While she'd played chaser before, it had been a couple years and her task these days involved a much smaller ball to catch. Much harder to see. But also her eyes had been trained to focus on such an object, whereas the large quaffle flying toward her in which she needed to catch while flying under the bar and toss it back while flying over... But determined as ever to prove herself to Professor Springer, she steered her broom towards the first bar, eyes on the bar in front but also the one in front of that where any moment a quaffle should be coming towards her ...

Aurora weaved her way through them easily enough. She had done this kind of thing more than once, so she was well practiced when it came to this kind of thing. As she made her way over to the next part, she spotted Emma and nodded to her in greeting, hoping she’d see it.
Up ahead were some over and under bars. She made her way under the bar while catching the quaffle that was tossed her way. Then as she made her way over the next bar, she tossed it back. She repeated the process with the other two bars.
Only one thing left to do now.
Aurora finished the course by touching her broom’s tail twigs to the touch plate. She was quite pleased with herself. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Kayla Calrissian-Carter Gryffindor First Year x7 x4
| Kayla Calrissian-Carter, Gryffindor Seeker Dem Carters | even 🕊🕊 have pride | | Expecto PAWtronum 🐈 | U-NA-GI She approached the Quidditch pitch with one of the school brooms slung over her shoulder, as both of her parents had agreed (ha, Ronan Carter and Sterling Archer Calrissian-Washington actually agreeing on something!) that she could only have a broom if she made the house Quidditch team. She didn’t exactly get why; she could be responsible. When she wanted to be. But they were afraid somehow that dragging a broom to Hogwarts would be too much. So anyway, here Kayla was with aforementioned school broom, hair pulled back into a high ponytail, wearing black leggings, a concert tee, and white athletic sneakers on her feet listening to Coach Springer explain what they were supposed to be doing.
An obstacle course? Hmm…this could be fun. She didn’t quite get how this was supposed to test for seeking skills, though. Oh well, it was what it was.
Kayla mounted the broom and took off from the starting plate, achieving the right height rather quickly considering she was on a school broom and headed right towards the hoops first. Hoop number one was stationary and she flew through quite easily. The second, however, was a bit more of a challenge since it kept moving up and down whenever she tried to go near it. First try, ring goes upwards. Second try, ring goes downwards. Third try and she was right in the middle of going through, but the dang ring decided to go up again and crashed right into her broom! She was briefly stuck with her foot on the underside of the ring, but with one good kick, she freed herself and sent the ring flying quite far to boot! It was after that she decided to switch gears and try the slalom poles. The Gryffindor sped quite easily through these, feeling like one of those professional skiers she’d sometimes catch glimpses of when Jordan was flipping through the channels.
Feeling extremely confident now, Kayla flew her way over to the over and under bars, where she just avoided a collision with a quaffle by using the sloth grip roll. After up righting from that, she flew over the first bar, catching the next quaffle and tossing it over her shoulder at the bar behind her. Next bar, she flew under, tossing the caught quaffle over her shoulder again, hearing a whack as it hit the bar behind her. Third bar she went over, but the quaffle was too fast for her catch and in fact would’ve hit her in the head if hadn’t done another sloth grip roll. And the last bar was coming up too quickly for her to right herself, so she simply flew under it, smoothly catching the quaffle as she did so. After she righted herself, Kayla turned to face the final bar and tossed the quaffle at it as if it were a basketball hoop before flying to the touch plate and landing with the broom’s tail firmly on the plate.

| YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Coach Professor Springer had flown her broom to the other end of the quidditch pitch where she look onward as the prospective quidditch players made there way towards her and through the obstacle course. Some might question what this had to do with specific skillsets of certain positions, but she was here to prove a point that all the positions were quite intertwined. And while at first appearance, it might not seem like she was testing for seeking skills or beating skills, a seemingly simple obstacle course could prove quite useful in showcasing all sorts of skills.
She'd watch a trio of Slytherins - two veteran players, and one she'd been surprised to see on the signup sheet - get started with the course. Calliope was next to join the fray with an air of confidence exuding and it showed. Even if you weren't a good flyer (which it was clear that Calliope was, but hypothetically), Jasmine knew that displaying confidence could easily mask any imperfections.
Pair of Gryffindors next - one she recognized as a student her former Bulgarian teammate had talked about with some private training. She wondered if Zinnia had talked about any of her former teammates to the young second year, although at the time of her trainings, Jasmine had not known she was going to be at Hogwarts this September. Watching the pair of Gryffindors (Ariel and Elena) execute some beautiful and impressive flying, she'd nearly missed Aryan near fatality as he headed off to cheer on his two friends instead of pressing forward with the obstacle course. She'd check on him later, but for now her gaze was on more slytherins...
Teagan and JT, both off to great starts with some awesome maneuvers of their own. It was clear they'd had experience, but seeing as she was familiar with the team status of the previous term, it wasn't surprising.
Professor Amstern's grandson was next who caught her eyes and she wondered if her colleague was sitting in the stands watching him. She must be so proud of his efforts, because they were quite admirable. As he was seeker hopeful, he of course was after her own seeker heart.
Pair of Hufflepuffs flying next - Emma she knew was a veteran player for Hufflepuff and played on the U17 league. Aurora she was uncertain of her status, as she was new to Hogwarts, but if she recalled from her application, she'd played at her previous school. Her flying showed confidence as well.
Taking up the rear of the obstacle course was a young first year, Kayla, who even though she may have been young, she showed great promise for someone so young. With the right mentorship she knew the young witch would be well on her to success.
Once the prospective players all made there way to touching down at the end of the pitch, she whistled sharply. "Thank you, thank you. You've all flown admirably today and shown your houses immense pride. You should be proud and I'm eager to ref the first match. However, for now this wraps up the end of tryouts. The rosters will be posted on the bulletin board by Friday at 5pm." ooc: Meant to post this a couple days ago , but tryouts are officially closed for term 70. We're reviewing things now and by May 30th (or sooner ), rosters shall be posted in the respective Gobstones and Quidditch roster threads. Thanks for participating in this term's quidditch and good luck!!
