My grandma actually bought the first Harry Potter book for herself and she gave it to me. I read the first chapter and didn't understand it so I thought it was "dumb". I decided to give it another chance and ever since then I haven't been able to put the books down! Thank goodness for my grandma.

My aunt introduced me to the books. She had to travel from Texas to Illinois, so she decided to pick up a book to read. This was when HP first came out. My aunt can hardy read. It takes her a year to finish a 20 chapter book. She finished this one before she got back home. She was only there (in Illinois) for like 2 or 3 days. When she got back, she suggested it to me, (b/c I am sucha bookworm! lol) That this was such an awesome book! So I decided since she hardly ever reads, this might be worth a shot. I finished the 1st book in like less than a day. That is when I fell in love  with HP. :sorcerer:

It was the t.v. One day i was watching the news and they talked about a project to make an adaptation of this book about a boy wizard. It was 99 and nobody knew about HP here by then. So i had to look hard to find the books, and finally found PS and CoS, i was hooked inmediately, i just loved them.
And ironicaly i didn't see PS when it originaly came to the cinemas, lol.

I never did read the books until I saw Sorcerer's Stone. I thought it was pretty neat the movie is, and then I hit the books that were lying around. I bought it from a book order in my school. Never got around to reading it until I heard a Harry Potter movie was made! Pssst, I was 8 or 9. :whisle:

Technically technical all the time Bookaholic

I was one of those people who was bound and determined NOT to read Harry Potter. The first time I heard about the books I decided that I wasn't going to read them because they were so hyped up. They were too popular for my tastes (I abhor jumping on bandwagons).

Then, one day, I was over at my mother-in-law's and she's watching this movie. I sat down to watch with her and fell in love. Then, I went down to visit my mother, who had just purchased the second film on DVD (it was a new release at the time). I watched the second film and cursed because now I knew I had to read the books.

Well, My Sis gave me the first book ages ago when I was about 8 or something and I read the first chapter and I was thinking "Boring! I still love my LOTR! *Hugs book*" and then Just before The Film Came out I was like "Oh No, Not that again, *Hugs Tatty over-hugged-LOTR book* oh well, Might as well read it again. I'll skip those boring chapters." Now I am Hooked on the book but I still Love Lotr! *Hugs overhugged-book-with-the-front-page-missing-so-it-says-'Lots of Love from Dad xxxxxx' "

Also My former best best best best friend Becky told me about it. I was like "What are you on Beeb? That is boring! It has no Nifty Swords everyware and Heads coming off!"

I like Harry Potter now though! *Huggs all books*

My second oldest sister bought a copy of SS. She read it first and told me and my other siblings how good it is. Next thing I know, everyone in the family have read not just SS but CoS, PoA, and GoF. Then last summer we read OotP.

One day, me and my dad where reading the newspaper, because was such a big rewiew about "these books about a kid wizard..." who becames a bestsellers.
i though just were advertising...
Dad bought all the books (until POA) and my mom was the first one to read it,
but one day, my mom left the book close to me an i began to read it (i was so boring an had nothing better to do)... and I robed the book...

of course she readed the books... after me.

Danigot, my little niece, does not read yet... so i read it for her. her mother introduce her to the books, cause she reads it before she go to bed. She has the 2 DVD versions and love to watch it very often. Her mom hates HP, she wishes to watch anyother movie instead the same one.

My friend wanted to make CoS movie and she wanted me to be in it. I never read the books and I had to. So I did. And now I've read all of them 3 times! I'm hooked, what can you say?

Well, basically, when the 1st movie was about to come out, my LA teacher realized that when we were writing about our books, a lot of people were comparing their books to Harry Potter. So...we did an entire unit on it and as a field trip we went to see the HPSS/PS movie. The first HP book I ever read was CoS. I was twelve and so were the kids in Harry's year in CoS, so there is a special "connection."
Thanks a bunch to my LA teacher and those who took part! My own multidisciplinary team!
I also like to thank myself too, you know, for being open. See, on matter what book it is, I tend to read primarily non-fiction, and I don't always have opportunites to do a lot of things, so that makes it really hard sometimes. However, all in all, I do my very best to be open, and usually, like in the HP case, it's not hard at all!

My Dad, he made me go see HArry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone, which I thought was one of the coolest movies I'd ever seen. Then he went on about the books, how I should read them, how they are even cooler than the movie so I read all four the next summer.

I got into HP pretty late in the game. Two of my housemates were huge fans and tried to get me into the books over and over, without much luck. Then one day one of them forced me to sit down and watch the first movie. I was pleasently surprised and how interesting it was and borrowed her set, which included the four books that were out at the time. I read all 4 books in 2.5 days!!

I'm a big advocate of HP. I try to convert everyone I know!
