Please do not kill me for saying the following. I have a right to an oppinion, and I respect that of anyone else:

I love to read Literature. id est: Early Modern English, through High/Poetical English to Modern / Standerd English. These works, (love Sir Walter Scott!) though not always what people think of as Literature (id est: soggy and boaring) are very stately. I enjoy that.

JK: Does not write Literature. She wrights in Contemporary English. (id est: she writes the way people speak.) She has manny gramatical "errors" which result from this. (incomplete sentances, et cetera) But don't get me wrong. The fact that she uses the language like this is what makes her so beloved. People can relate to what she writes since she writes an unusual story in the language of everyday. I LOVE that, and I ADMIRE her for that.

BUT: She does not deserve a Nobel Prise. That's for Literature. Which is not what she writes.

To Sum Up: JK is not what I normally read. But I love what she does, and she should keep on doing it!

(Please please do not kill me!)

Actually JKR does write Literature. the definition of which is "The body of written works of a language, period, or culture."
HP 1-5 fits in that description.
Now as to her deserving a Noble that remains to be seen.
Popular fiction doesn't seem to win to often even though Hemingway and Pearl Buck both won for at the time popular writings.
My favorite authors are Heinlein, Asimov, and Herbert. I held off on HP until the 5th book came out and now I am a very big fan. I didn't even see the movies until they came out on DVD. One of the things I like most about JK's writing is that she leaves alot to the imagination, she spends very little time on surroundings and more time on character development.

yeah jk
she's probably one of the few authors of whom ive read more than one book
but i absolutely love tony parsons-he's written man and boy and now man and wife. they're amazing. beautiful how he writes
and then there is john o'farrell with this is ur life
its realli funny- you should read that. i do sometimes read chick angst books so sheila o'flanagan is allright. not exceptional but realli good.
i must say i dont like jane austen- we had to read pride and prejudice for skool n i wanted to kill myself
but i liked emma marginally better
n yeah i did briefly go through a m n b phase as a 13 year old(cringe) but now im over it
its too unreal and cliched for me
but yeah i guess jk is one of my favourites- no way can i pick which one i like best

I like her a lot, but Ursula K. Le Guin definatley gets 1st place. JKR has proved she can write only one type of story well- the harry potter-type story. Le Guin`s prose is more satisfying and she`s more versatile. Oh, and Tolkien goes before jkr. But she`s still up there!

well she has only ever written harry potter stuff
i mean that point would be valid only at the end of her career- which is nowhere near
give her time
hard as it is believe- this might not be her best yet
and i think
that although i dont like ootp at all(the story...the death
i thought her writing had improved
i mean the plot gets more complex with each book and she's handled it very well
its impressive how she manages such a thick plot-gets her messages and themes across- has time for a bit of fun
and yet it makes for very easy reading
that is a definite achievement
but no she is not my favourite author- i need a bit more time for that to happen
but she's really good
