i agree with most of you.. not all Slytherin are bad.. cunning means they know exactly when to act or keep in silent, they know the right time.

Yeah, it's no doubt that most bad people would be Slytherin, but there are good people too. I mean, Merlin was a Slytherin. We also know some good characters from Slytherin, like Slughorn. I would also like to bring up Regulus, who really did try.

Ron describes it as all bad wizards have come from Slytherin, but no that does not mean that all Slytherins are bad wizards. I think its the ambition. They have the ambition to do whatever it is that they want to do, whether its deemed good or evil is irrelevant in that sense.

Not all Slytherins are bad. We know this because there are many Slytherin characters who weren't bad, such as Horace Slughorn, Regulus Black (only later in his life) and even Merlin was a Slytherin. So in my opinion, MOST* Slytherins aren't bad.

*By most I mean that some Slytherins were bad. This is obvious because there are characters like Voldemort, Bellatrix Lestrange, etc.

I dunno, that's just how I've always thought of it!

With this in mind, I think this explains why Slytherin was viewed as grounds for future Death Eaters. Their ambition drove them to want power, fame, and to be feared. Being viewed as one of the most evil wizards and witches out there was the quickest path to that. It does not necessarily mean that they wholeheartedly believed in the cause they signed up for.
