She put the bags down on a free outdoor table and sat down on a comfortable seat. Wiping the sweat from her forehead, she tucked her long hair behind her ears. She wondered if she should get a scoop of ice cream, or just return home. Her eyes focused on the menu on the table. The flavours sounded delicious ... she should probably try one before leaving. But which flavour should she get?

Still procrastinating on her book shopping, Carsyn headed to Floreans for some much deserved ice cream. Actually, who was she kidding, the ice cream was hardly deserved because she hadn't been very productive at all since she'd returned from her travel adventures. But it was summertime and there was still a few weeks left to get her supplies so why rush to get them now?

When there was a girl there who looked new and close to her own age maybe. Well new in that she had the look of 'i don't know what to get, because I've never had this before'. Which was where the Gryffindor came in, chiming all too eagerly, "I'd recommend one of each." Just saying. Or maybe she was still on her sugar cravings from being so deprived for ten months.

When she heard a voice addressing her, Jina looked up to see a girl around her age. Clearly she was not new, since she was making an ice cream recommendation for her. Maybe she went to Hogwarts! Jina had never met anyone from her new school before. It would be nice to get to know a few people before going to school.

"Alright. I'll get three scoops of different flavours." She said with a nod. She was debating between chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, but she could actually eat all three! There were so many flavours available, she would not be able to try all of them in one day, or she would get brain freeze. She could come back everyday and try three different scoops at a time. "What are you thinking of getting?" She asked the girl.

What was a trip to Diagon Alley without stopping by Florean Fortescue's? That was Isla's opinion, at least. Her mom had decided to stop on the sidewalk and talk with a friend, while Isla made her way into the ice cream shop to place her order. She ended up choosing two scoops of chocolate frog, mainly because she loved chocolate. She just hoped there weren't any actual frogs in her ice cream, because you really never knew about those things in the wizarding world.

After two licks of the ice cream, though, she decided that possible frog or not, she liked the taste of it. So she made her way to an empty table and sat down. She opened the umbrella on the table, because she thought it looked colorful and because her ice cream was starting to melt. With a quick wave to her mom to let her know she was okay, the up-and-coming firstie sat back to relax. School shopping could really do a number on an eleven-year-old!

Brace yourselves, everyone! Asher Fawley got a wand! ASHER FAWLEY GOT A WAND!!!

The very instant he left Ollivanders, the boy couldn't help but wave his wand this way and wave it that way and give it a twirl and a point and even a spin. Unintentionally he had been making the occasional spark fly or an object move, but he hadn't taken any notice to that. He was so freaking excited that he had a wand of his own and that he would soon be doing magic with it. If only he could remember that one spell Kenny had taught him. Petrify Toddlers? Petroleum Totals?

As he tried figuring out the incantation, Asher continued zooming down the street to meet up with his mum and Kenny in the robes shop. Then, after slipping between two random adults, the brightly coloured outdoor seating of the ice cream shop caught his attention. Ooooooooooooooh! Ice cream sounded delicious right now, and he did have a little bit of money leftover in his pocket. But there were SO MANY flavours to consider... Butterbeer, Troll Bogey, Cockroach Cluster, Jelly Slug... how could anyone choose?

"Oi!" he said to a girl that was sitting near to where he was standing. "What flavour didja get? I can't decide!" He pointed at the ice cream in her hand with his fancy new wand, which may or may not have released out a bit of accidental magic.

When she made that recommendation, did she actually think it would work? Probably not, but it did admittedly feel good to have some sense authority where she felt like people listened to her suggestions. Just meant people would listen once she was wearing her badge on the train in a few weeks too, wouldn't they? Except Cora Dredworth as she was FULLY expecting her dormmate to be all defiant, but she just hoped she wouldn't give herself too much grief.

"Really?" Oh, she hadn't expected the girl to ask her a question in return of what she was thinking of getting. "Ummmm... I'm a big fan of the more ... creative flavors. Like Chocolate Frog or Treacle Fudge ... Or they have this jalapeño one that's pretty decent if you like spicy... Mac n cheese is actually pretty good too." Really anything but the boring muggle flavors. "So you new around here?"

Of course she would listen to her recommendation! And it was not because she was a prefect (Jina did not know that), but she seemed confident and trustworthy.

Her eyebrows rose in surprise at some of the flavours the girl mentioned. Jalapeño? Mac n cheese? She thought she was joking, until she scanned the menu again and saw that they were indeed being offered. "Wow ... I think I'll go for the more normal ones. Chocolate frog and butterbeer, maybe. Thanks for the suggestion though," she said, laughing. Everyone has different tastes and she tried to respect them, no matter how odd. "Yes, I moved here from Canada recently. Do you attend Hogwarts?"

Confident, yes, she was definitely that. The trustworthy part would be something that was probably more her sister's area of expertise, but she had her moments ....

Yes obviously the flavors were a bit far fetched, but to anyone who had been in the wizarding world for awhile, surely not. Except, maybe it was just UK Wizarding World that was weird with flavors? "Those are good choices and I think would probably compliment each other nicely." The chocolate with the butterscotch cream flavor of butterbeer; the girl was clearly smart. "Canada. Wow, so like, you know French? We were at Beauxbatons last term cause we got kicked out of Hogwarts by some fog. And then we almost got kicked out of Beauxbatons cause the French kids were spoiled brats who tried to sabotage our education but really they were the evil ones and brought a dragon to school!" Actually she wasn't really sure what it was, but that sounded good. "But yes, Hogwarts. I'm going to be a fifth year. And you?" Also she should probably state her name, but somehow that slipped her mind.

Five years in the wizarding world was not enough to change her tastes too drastically. She did like the magical sweets though, like chocolate frogs and fizzing whizbees. The thought of her delicious ice cream made her mouth water. "Yes, because I'm from Quebec ... wait, what?" she began to explain, but paused to listen to what the girl was saying. When she was done, Jina blinked a few times, trying to process the information. Fog at Hogwarts, moved to Beauxbatons, spoiled French kids, sabotaged education, a dragon ... and these all happened last term! She did not know about this at all, even though she read Hogwarts: A History over the past week. There were some scary events, but there was no mention of students being kicked out of Hogwarts (possibly because it happened recently). "Um, I will be a sixth year. Sorry, I'm still a bit shocked ... we are going to Hogwarts on September the first, right?" Or was the fog thing still there? She was starting to feel afraid.

Quebec. Okay, yea, honestly Carsyn had literally NO idea where in Canada that even was. Wait, that was in Canada, right? Because the girl had just said she was Canadian and for all she knew, everyone in Canada spoke French. But that was all irregardless because where was the girl LAST TERM, when she needed a French speaker. It might have helped score her a snog with one of the attractive, but idiotic French boys. And wait, what was that face?? Oops. Apparently some things were better left unsaid.

"Exciting, um yea, i think so... Like, I'm pretty sure everything's all cleared up to go back to Hogwarts," hopefully. Because Carsyn wasn't sure she could take another year at Beauxbatons. "But don't worry, cause even if there's no fog, its never really a dull moment at Hogwarts." Okay, that probably wasn't the most reassuring thing to say either. Someone shut her up, please.

Isla's thought her chocolate slug ice cream was the best treat in the entire world! It was no longer dripping all over her hands and fingers, because she was nearly through with it when Asher came along. He kind of startled her, mainly because she was so focused on her ice cream, but also because he waving a wand, a legit, real wand, this way and that. She might have been overreacting, but she thought she saw a little spark mixed in somewhere, too.

"Chocolate frog," she said, "and it's amazing!" Her eyes were on his wand, though. "Did you just get your first wand?" She guessed that it was his first wand, because...well, just look at him! "I just got my first one, too! It's got unicorn hair inside!" She gently pulled it out, holding it tightly, and showed it to him. Her ice cream could just drip down her left hand for now, because wands were super important, too. Was it possible to conjure a second ice cream with her wand?! She just had to find out!

She also wondered if this boy knew the whole 'no underage magic outside of school' rule. "Those sparks could...take down a whole table and chairs!" she said, although part of her did and part of her didn't want to see that happen!

Did Asher know that he had startled the girl that seemed to be around his age? Nope! He was too excited about his brand spanking new wand, and he also was a bit preoccupied with all the possible ice cream choices to really realize what he was doing -- i.e., walking right up to someone he didn't know without introducing himself, pointing a wand at them (well, their ice cream), and just inserting himself into someone's space without invitation. Thankfully the girl he was talking to didn't seem to mind all that much. Did that mean they were friends?

"Chocolate frog?" he repeated, mentally adding that to the possible list of flavour options he'd choose from. "Definitely a classic!" And it must've been extra good today since most of her's was gone. If he actually knew her better, he might've asked for a quick sample.

But all ice cream thoughts were momentarily put on hold the instant she revealed her wand. "Whoa! That's cool! Do you know any spells? Have you tried casting any yet?" He had all the questions ready to pour from this mouth, and he hoped she had answers. Maybe she knew that one spell his brother had mentioned to him.

"Mine's got Clabbert tooth in it!" Asher exclaimed, certain that the core was pretty unique since he didn't know anyone that had Clabbert in their wand. Speaking of his wand, the girl's mention of the sparks made him actually look down at it and whatever it was doing. "Oh! Oops! It was doing this at the wand shop earlier. The thing has a mind of its own."

He at least knew how to stop the sparks, which he did by just pointing his wand downward and then stuffed it into his pocket a bit. "I'm Asher by the way. Asher Fawley." Since he just remembered manners and everything.

Isla nodded, and then she took a moment to eat the last delicious bite of her ice cream before finishing it off for good. She wiped her hands then turned back to the boy. "Chocolate frog is so good! It's got little pieces of actual chocolate frog mixed in it, too," she explained. "You don't have to worry about this chocolate frog hopping away from you either." I mean, it was chopped up into teeny, tiny pieces after all.

Her eyes turned back to her wand, and she smiled widely as he looked at it. "Nope, none at all! But I'm going to be a first year at Hogwarts, so I'm hoping to learn a few soon," she said, answering his question about her knowing any spells. "I haven't tried any spells yet, but I caused a few sparks with this one at the shop, and the first one I tried caused a loud KABOOM! Nothing blew up, though." Her eyes widened in disbelief. "A clabbert tooth?! They can put those things in there?!" That was kind of cool, but she doubted the clabbert felt the same way. Unless...it was dead when its tooth was taken. Yikes.

She laughed at the sparks that came out his wand. "It's okay, so as long as you don't catch my hair on fire or something," she said. "I'm Isla Bellchant!"

Even though she spoke French, Jina probably would not have been too helpful in that area. She froze up whenever she spoke to super attractive boys!

She nodded, reassured that the fog was all cleared up. What the girl said next was a bit alarming. It sounded quite dangerous. Maybe she liked dangerous things, the way she found jalapeño ice cream decent. Jina was not as fearless as her. At least she knew that there are people at Hogwarts who are brave. She can stay close to these people. "Okay ... um, do you want to go get the ice cream?"

Carsyn on the other hand didn't freeze up, but didn't have much success in that department either. She was going to chalk it up to inexperience though. Also, while she might have shown fearlessness and bravery, it was to the point of stupidity.

"Oh um, yea, sure, we should go order." Carsyn nodded in agreement, before realizing she didn't know the girl's name. Of course the girl didn't know her name either. "What's your name, by the way?"

"Wade!" she gasped, beaming at him. She hadn't seen him in years. And now that she thought about it, they had first met here at Florean's! "Funny running into you here... didn't we first meet here?" she laughed, standing to give him a hug. Merlin's beard, that seemed like such a long time ago... she hadn't realized how much time had flown. "Care to join me?" she added, gesturing to her empty table. How nice it was to see a familiar friendly face.

It was really her after all! Wade happily returned the greeting with one of his big old badger hugs, it had been too long since they last met. He laughed heartily at the memory on when they first met here. "It's Merlin's fate that we'd find each other again here then!" He was starting his sixth year at that time which blossomed an instant friendship between the two. Joining her at the table they could catch up on many things, a lot happened in two decades after all.

"So... how's things been since graduation?" From her plans then he imagined great things from her even if they happened to change.

Ronnie smiled, hugging her old schoolmate back. It was nice to see a familiar face - especially a friendly one at that.

"Since graduation..." she laughed, trailing off in deep thought. Many years had definitely passed, and so much had happened. She had gotten engaged to Jory but that had ended pretty quick, and she believed he had some children of his own now - which she was truly happy for; thankfully things had ended on a good note. But what else had happened? Not much came to mind and she gave Wade a shrug. "Not too much! I've been working at the Ministry as a personal assistant in the department of environmental protection. Got my own place in London, a little flat with my two cats." she beamed. She did love her little babies. "What about you?" she asked curiously.

He watched as she finished off the ice cream, which only reminded him that he needed to make a decision on which flavour he was going to get. He would not be returning to his mum and brother without having a celebratory I-have-a-wand treat first. "I think it'd be more fun if it weren't chopped up, to be honest," he shrugged. "What's you opinion on Butterbeer, Cockroach Cluster, and Jelly Slug? I'm thinking 'bout getting one of those. Or maybe one scoop of each. All I know is to avoid the Bertie Bott's flavour. My brother tricked me into swapping with him once... not the best choice I've made."

A look of disappointment appeared on Asher's face when Isla stated that she didn't know any spells. But the look was very brief and it quickly disappeared when she said that she was going to be a first year at Hogwarts. "Shoot. Well, I don't know any either," the boy replied quietly before moving on to the next subject with more enthusiasm.

"The first wand I tried made a loud noise too. But the shopkeeper dude didn't seem to mind. He just went and got a different wand, which started shooting out colourful sparks like rainbows when I gave it a wave. ... And, yes! I don't even know how they do it, but they can!"

Then a random question popped into his head: "What House are you hoping for? I'm going to be a Hufflepuff like most my family."

Isla. The girl's name was Isla. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Isla." He extended his hand, though he wasn't quite sure whether to give a handshake, a high-five, or a fist bump.

"Oh um, yea, sure, we should go order." Carsyn nodded in agreement, before realizing she didn't know the girl's name. Of course the girl didn't know her name either. "What's your name, by the way?"

"Oh, I'm Jina. What's your name?" she said as she stood up. The conversation was alarming in many ways, but she was glad she got to know someone who goes to Hogwarts. And she had a delicious ice cream to look forward to thanks to her suggestion.

"Shoot. "You're probably right about that," she said. "You sound like my kind of person." If he was going to Hogwarts, too, she could see herself wanting to be friends with him. She thought about his question for a minute, making a slight face at the mention of cockroach cluster. "I'd go with one scoop of butterbeer and one scoop of jelly slug. Cockroach cluster sounds disgusting." An expression of amusement and surprise spread across her face when he mentioned the Bertie Bott's ice cream. "Whoa! What flavor was it?"

"I've seen my mom and dad cast spells loads of times," she said, revealing that she was a pureblood. "So I kind of know about them, but I've never cast one myself." Thanks but no thanks to getting into trouble with the Ministry of Magic. "What kind of spells do you want to learn at Hogwarts?" He was a Hogwarts student, right? "I want to learn how to summon things to me and how to change a quill into a rhino!" That was a possibility, right?

"I haven't really figured out the house I'm hoping for, but I think I'll be a Gryffindor!" she said with enthusiasm. "I don't want to be a Slytherin. I'm not much of a bad guy." She clearly had some things mixed up when it came to the houses. "Well, I hope you get into Hufflepuff," she added, and then she met his hand with a handshake of her own, except her hand had dripped ice cream all over it.

"What a pretty name!" Carsyn stated excitedly. But hey, she was a super pretty girl so she supposed it was only fitting for her to have a name that matched. "Oh um, I'm Carsyn. So have you read up on the houses yet?"

Ice cream date bestie <3

Jessa Cambridge has cleared her schedule and traded shifts in order to make this ice cream date. It was one of the few things in her life that had remained consistent, one of the things that kept her grounded and if it meant picking up a double somewhere else, that didn’t bother her. V taking the boys for the afternoon was an equal help. It was just the break she needed from studying, sick and dying patients and boys who’d taught each other how to get into things.

She took a seat at their usual spot, pleased it hadn’t already been snagged by any of the now unleashed Hogwarts students. Some traditions could be kept sacred.

Not wanting to take the risk of a long line suddenly appearing by the time Derf arrived, she already secured their large sundae and charmed it to maintain its temperature.

Was it silly to be so excited? It wasn’t as if Derf had fallen off the face of the earth prior to this ice-cream date. But the idea of seeing him and catching up was enough to lift her mood.

The second trip to get ice cream in the past three days. What was this? He didn’t know but whatever this was it was awesome. He was here with his Geegee the other day. Now he was here alone… well his parents knew where he was at least. They had given him enough money to go get some ice cream. Which he did. And boy was he as excited as an eleven year old boy could be.

Now the problem was he had so much topping on top of his ice cream that every step he took something fell off. There was a trail from the toppings bar all the way out to the outdoor seating. Where Christian was currently looking for a place to sit so he could enjoy this monstrosity of a cup of ice cream. Let be real though he had gone just a little overboard on the gummy bears and sprinkles. Was there even any ice cream under there?

Gemma wasn't ever allowed far from her parents, but today her mother needed to have a meeting with a friend and so she was allowed to go get some ice cream while her mom wasn't too far away. So the eleven year old hurried into the shop and got what she wanted. As promised she headed to the outdoor area where she could sit alone, but her mother could see her from where she was.

As she did head out though she noticed someone losing most of his toppings and she wasn't sure how to help, but she knew just staring was never the nice thing to do, so she set her ice cream down on the table before speaking up, "Hey you might want to just sit down before all your toppings are gone before you even taste any." Pulling out the chair and pointing so he knew she had one close she took a seat in her own.

Jillian forced herself to go out today for some fresh air and something cold because getting stuck at home was getting more and more boring. She has brushed up with her reading but that didn't make it any less boring. So today was the day she felt like treating herself for some yummy ice cream.

She had plenty of time to be out right now- not that she had anything listed on her schedule. She also thought of maybe shopping for her cats and maybe extra chocolates for when she needs to bake at home. Yes, that seems like a plan... but for now she just needed to unwind and buy some strawberry ice cream.

Jillian bought 2 scoops of ice cream with chocolate sprinkles on top and made her way outside, where the sun is high and the wind is nice. She tugged her hair behind her ear and then began dipping her spoon on the pink ice cream and taking a large bite. Y U M M Y. Fruit flavored ice cream is always the best during summer.

OHHHHH, she should have gotten green tea too! Merlin, she will be revisiting this place before going home later.

One Derfael Ashburry-Hawthorne was very VERY much looking forward to their 17 year tradition. Yes. 17 years. Ever since he was three-years-old and Alexa used to babysit them - which was how this whole ice cream thing had even STARTED since she was desperate to give them something, anything, to do. He could still recall so vividly the ice cream date prior to his starting at Hogwarts when he had JUST received his wand and the whole THING that had come about because of his fwooper core.

Now, at the ripe age of 20 and no longer a vagabond but a somewhat reluctant university student, Derf was making his way towards Florean's with Clara on her leash. She had been particularly fussy to get out and with Chloe taking a double shift at her work he felt horrible about leaving her home alone.

So here they were.

And there Jessa was.

"Jessa!" he called with a wave, just as he had done practically every summer prior. "Sorry. Reckon you were waiting a bit," he apologizes while switching Clara's leash between hands as she scurried around in circles at his feet. "Clara got into some of the supplies so we had to take a bath before coming." Which was why he smelled particularly of doggie shampoo.

She sorta needed to stand so he could give her a hug though, you know?
